Western Washington peeps

Thank Goodness the snow is finnally melting
Were in Arlington and got 20 inches like many
We just took 2 vacation inbetween of it so missed alot of the snow at home
But didnt miss out on it at all where we went (Leavenworth and Oregon)

After spending the morning shoveling out our hill with a bunch of neighbors and still having a compact snow and ice mess - 10 inches at the highest point. I emailed the city to ask what the deal was, they plowed everything above us and below us, leaving our hill blocked in with large chunks of snow. Well an hour ago they showed up and plowed - three times!!! :dance3: :yay: :woohoo:  :worship: :dance3: :cheer2: :dancer: party: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :dancer: :jumping1: :jumping1: :drinking1

I am leaving my house tomorrow!!! :woohoo: Wonder what it's like in the real world.... ;)

They finnally plowed our main roads today also!!!! :) :) :)
But not the road we live on so today we went out with some neighbors and plowed a bit
But its still extremely slick and yucky
But its melting!!!!
I think it will probally be gone by Monday if I'm right
That would be a dream come true !!!

I ended up with 14 inches where it was untouched. Crazy! It is finally all melting away now. I did love having a white Christmas, but I'm real tired of it and glad to see it go. My friend and I were joking that this was all those years we whined about not having a white Christmas, all rolled into one. We also agree that we will NEVER whine about not having a white Christmas again.

I finally got out for the first time in a week yesterday. Getting out wasn't bad...getting back in was a bit challenging. I have a long uphill driveway. Got stuck twice, but fortunately I had picked up two bags of cat litter, so I managed to un-stick myself. I still have a lot of compact ice in my driveway, so it may be a few days before I can drive in and out easily. But at least I can GET OUT! Man, I was getting crazy!

OK, so I'm an Oregonian and I'm late to this party- I was going NUTS! I finally was able to drive today, to the mall and Target. WOO HOO! My husband had to take our Subaru to work everyday- NOT that I would attempt to drive in that mess, but it was pretty tiring feeling trapped all the time. Thank goodness for today's thaw!:worship: :worship:

Hi! Oregonians welcome too. :) Funny, I got out for the first time last night and I went to Target too. So I gotta ask you...did you overspend a bit, just for sheer joy of being able to be OUT? I did. I mostly bought things that we had a legitimate need for but I went just a little cuckoo too.

I'm hitting Target today and fully intend on spending way too much! I'm about to run out to the truck and head to Starbucks, just because I can. ;)

I'm hoping it thaws out more in Oregon, my grandma is down there and supposed to be having surgery on Tuesday but hasn't been able to get in for her bloodwork yet. My mom is heading down to be with her tomorrow for a week and I know she's not looking forward to the idea of being stuck!

it's a mushy, snowy mess here.

we got over 28 inches in that one 24 hour dump then anywhere from 2-6 in each of the subsequent storms. on a more positive note we have a good organization of neighbors out here that had everyone's driveways and the private road cleared long before we saw the county plows on the paved road a few miles down from us.

we were able to make it to coeur d'alene for triple play on the 23rd and enjoyed the light tour on the lake as well-but it was nasty coming home on the 24th (we cut out early and were at cabellas by 8:30 in the morning-plenty of folks like us there, not buying last minute christmas stuff-buying snow clothes to troop off in to work and school:lmao: ).

the 'highlight' of this entire white christmas was on the 22nd-one of our neighbors volunteered to help put together the full size air hockey table our kids were getting for christmas-in his garage. so the night of the 22nd, with the snow coming down-there was the neighbor trying to back his truck into our driveway (very long, unpaved, tons of snow) with dh in the back trying to make sure the damn hockey table did'nt slide out (i was invisioning krem news that night saying 'BREAKING NEWS-we have a jack-knifed air hockey table in cheney':rotfl2: ). thankfully all survived in tact:thumbsup2

stay warm everyone.

We are finally getting out from under, too.

I can't say I minded the snow so much; DH had knee surgery on the 11th, but was bound and determined to keep on keepin' on, despite the fact that it was pretty major surgery and requires him to be on crutches for 8 weeks. The snow slowed him down a bit, keeping his coworkers and staff out of the office, so he didn't have much of an excuse to overdo it. He went in for a few full days but otherwise worked from home and kept his leg elevated. :)

And fortunate for me that he was home, because I tried driving in the snow once, and after sliding a couple times I turned around and skittered back into the driveway, declaring him my personal driver for the duration. :rotfl:

DH caused quite a sensation in the neighborhood when he decided to shovel the driveway yesterday. He (dressed in a t-shirt, shorts and sandals) plunked down onto a garage swivel chair, and wheeled himself and his trusty shovel out to the driveway. Neighbor after neighbor drove by slowly, watching his progress, and many stopping to offer a humorous or amazed comment. :lmao:

The kids did tons of sledding, and are very sad the snow is melting away. Yesterday was the worst driving yet, as our compact snow and ice turned to crusty snow on top with water running underneath. Very sloppy, with deep ruts along the street. And if you tried to turn a corner against the rut, good luck to you! :scared1:

This morning we have very slushy snow with spots of bare, wet pavement. And it's raining. Ahhh, but it was fun while it lasted. ;)

My parents and a bunch of their neighbors apparently spent four hours yesterday morning breaking ice and clearing off a path out of their street, which was pretty much the only way they would be getting out before the spring thaw (apparently the City of Redmond has only four plows, and plows only on arterials because of that.) The main roads are mostly clear now though, and I can actually see some patches of grass when I look out the window. A lot of parking lots are still messy though, although my car seems to handle those better than some.

Moses Lake checking in here. Yesterday was a nice day the sun was out sorta, the snow started melting. BUT this morning it started freezing rain ugh..
Then about an hour ago it started snowing..not just little flakes but more like mini snowballs falling from the sky!! There are quite a few cars off the road on Hiw 17, and then on Wheeler rd. Its blizzardyish out there today.
I am really tired of shoveling the snow!!

My snow is melting away quickly, but today the wind kicked up. Oh goody. We may lose power yet out of this deal!

I'm about to get dressed and get my kids over to my friends' house. They volunteered to keep them for the day so I can ESCAPE!!!!! I have just got to get out of here for a few hours on my own or I'm going to go psycho.

Hi neighbor:wave:

I woke up to snow, then sleet, then freezing rain - all before I ever left for work. Had to take my DS to the dentist in Wenatchee today too. Was almost like a blizzard on the way up but was 36 degrees and melting on the way home. At least until the wind started blowing.

Just got an email notification that a temporary Disney Outlet store is opening at the SuperMall in Auburn. They are located in the mall across from the Dress Barn.

Happy bargain hunting! :thumbsup2

Wasn't Mondays weather just crazy!!
Today I woke up to more snow...seriously can it just stop now?
Poor Spokane is just getting hammered with snow.

Any idea when or how long they will be open? It's quite a trek for me so I don't want to go all the way out there for nothing!

So, the big debate in our house is if our garbage will ever get picked up! We're going on three weeks now, and if they don't come today that's a whole month. Awesome :lmao:

Luckily we have those giant black bags, so we've been able to collect everything in a sort of sanitary way, but I'm not sure how much longer this could go on.

I woke up to a little fresh snow today too. I was NOT amused.

Ugh, that's awful. You're on the east side, right? We've been hearing about that terrible mess with the garbage not being able to be picked up. I feel for you!

Just remember, they don't always have good stuff. Stock varies day by day.

I never have made it to one, other than an accidental visit in Oregon, but when it was up in Burlington I just couldnt make myself go, in case there was nothing I wanted.

Hubby said he got snowed on this AM while walking to the train in Tacoma. I wish I'd been up for it! Since we have such access to everything where we live, we're actually hoping for more snow! :woohoo: Sorry everyone in different areas....:scared:

We had a couple of inches of new snow last night. Just got an auto-email from Eastern Wa. Univeristy. My DS is supposed to start his winter quarter on Monday but it looks like they are cancelling classes.
