Western Caribbean April 30, 2011?

I sat up last night laughing at the website whenparentstext.com and knew I would never be one of those clueless parents who is technically challenged. But....... Here I am. New to a message board and no idea if I'm replying the right way. We've just booked our 2nd cruise for April 30, 2011 and would love to be a part of the FE. Yes, at least I know what a FE is (sort of) but don't know how to PM my info to Alecia. I don't quite know what a PM is? There I go again. My kids would be so disappointed. EMAIL?? I can do that. Anyway, Alecia, if you get this message please add me to your list! We will get a room number in the next few days (I'm trying to change staterooms right now) I've got two girls ages 5 and 7. Thanks a million.

WAIT A MINUTE! PM - private message ???? I'll try that!

Welcome to the thread! :) ( and congrats on figuring out the PM!) :cool1:

Pre-cruise/post-cruise. What are your plans?

We are arriving the day before & staying in a park & cruise hotel (RI). Still not sure about post-cruise. DS is working us for a day at WDW. :mickeyjum

Sooooooo, what about the rest if you?????

Arriving the night before and staying in Cocoa Beach. Flying out late afternoon the following Saturday.

Still haven't figured out what we're doing yet ... I'm 45 minutes away so I planned to drive to PC the morning of and park at port, but holy expensive! :scared1: Maybe I can convince a friend to drop off and pick up for half that amount!

Audria407: parking at the port IS crazy expensive. There are several hotels at or near the port area that allow you to park your car all week for free if you stay one night. Then you can take a shuttle to the terminal. I found this out by reading it on these boards--love this forum!!!

There are lists of the hotels under main forum in the sticky that says something like: important info for you. I also saw where several people got great deals at those park&cruise hotels on priceline. One lady stayed for about $70! Some hotels charge a minimal fee ($5) for shuttle, others are free. You can still come out cheaper than parking at port all week, and have access to your car right after the cruise. Definitely worth a look!

We are waiting to hear if blodg is going to be able to make it or not.
At this point with them traveling with us we are flying in 2 days before, best rate we could fine. Cheapier to do that and stay for 2 nights than to fly in the day before or day off. I would not fly in the day of!
We are planning on staying in Port, well I believe the Hotel is in Cocoa Beach...
We fly home the same day we disembark. BUT the best rate we could get was flying out of Orlando at like 6 pm. So we will most likely be one of the last ones off the ship.
IF blodg does not go we are thinking about staying onsite at one of the values. We have done Pop twice now so are ready for something different even if it is a value.

We are arriving the night before and staying at the Country Inn and Suites in PC, so we can be at the terminal nice and early on Saturday :thumbsup2 Then, we are going to WDW and staying at POR Saturday and Sunday night after the cruise, and flying home on Monday :goodvibes

Hey, that sounds like us... Hahaha.

Also, do we have a head count or roll call or whatever it's called? I saw one waaaaay back on the earlier posts, but those folks are no longer on this cruise.

I was originally going on a different cruise & on that cruise meet they posted a head count occasionally on the thread. Although i never did join that group because we changed dates, I thought it was nice to see who is on your cruise without having to go back through the posts.

They had rules on the other cruise meet for who did this type of thing. Don't want to step on any toes here (but this group seems more laid back). So, who wants to do a head count?:confused3

Yea! Country Inn and Suites is the one we are looking at staying at if we stay in port. pirate:
Tim and I are part of the orignal 6, we are def sailing, 2 of us are def not and the 2 are planning on it (the 14th is right around the corner so we will know then)popcorn::

If I may step up and say I will do the headcount :hippie:, please PM me. How many, the ages (kids ages fine ;) ), names and stateroom # if you would like. Any other info you would like included. :teacher:

Yea, this group seems laid back all right :upsidedow

I wonder if I could just pay for one night even at these hotels and use the parking lot. I only live four hours away but the parking at the cruise terminal is crazy expensive. A $70 fee for the hotel would still be much cheaper. hmmmmm....

What I meant to say is that I wonder if a person could pay for a night at one of these hotels even if you are not planning on sleeping there. The price of a night at the hotel would still be much cheaper than the parking fee at the cruise parking lot.:confused3

We are driving down the day before and staying in PC that night and leaving the car at the hotel and then we will drive home the day of the cruise. No post WDW for us this time as we were just there last November. We are going to split the drive up going down and stay somewhere in SC for a night and then drive the whole way home after the cruise since we will be heading home.

I'm going to compile a list on who has contacted me about FE to make sure I've got everyone so far that is interested. I should have it up tomorrow as I actually have a day off from work and hopefully the kids will be well enough to be at daycare and I can have some mommy time alone!:yay:

Howdy All!

The DW and I think we have decided to sail with you all. I believe it is her intent to book tomorrow. This will be our third DCL cruise, second Western. Unfortunately, our first Western was slightly altered due to that pesky swine flu thing. We did the Eastern this past November, and although nice, it wasn't (in our opinion anyway) as nice.

Looking forward to corresponding with everyone as we get closer!

Ciao for now.

Okay, final payment made - no turning back now!

Random question for previous cruisers. Does it get cold in the staterooms? For example, am I going to want to put DS (2 years old) in fleecy footie pajamas at night?

We would love to take part in the FE, Alecia! I would love to message you with all of our info but don't have enough posts yet to send messages - although I should shortly! So for right now,do you mind putting us down - 2 daughters (ages 5 and 7).
Thanks!!!

There are individual controls in each stateroom so you can set the temp to whatever you like:thumbsup2
