We will be taking a vacation in April, and staying at the Westcoast Anaheim. Has anyone stayed there lately, and can share what it is like there? How close is it to Disneyland? Are there different "levels" of rooms there, meaning some are better than others?
Thanks in advance!

Very nice hotel. I just did a site inspection there last week and will be putting a review on MouseSavers soon. For now I can tell you that the only real difference from one room to another is the view, and the balcony. Some balconies are full-sized (big enough to sit on) and others are just "walk-out" balconies. Personally I never use hotel balconies so this wouldn't matter to me, but if you care you might ask for the full-sized balcony.

I would ask for a 6th floor or higher room with a view of DCA/DL (there's no extra charge for these rooms). The view in the other direction is okay -- you see the pool area, which is pretty -- but if you can get a view of the parks, why not?

Hotel has a nice coffee shop, a very wacky steakhouse (The Overland Stage) that is Old West themed, two bars, an espresso bar and a gift shop. Really nice pool and spa. Pretty much anything you'd want.

You could walk to DCA/DL (two VERY LONG city blocks) but they have transportation every 30 minutes.

We stayed there in October. They are very gracious in fulfilling your room requests. We requested a resort view room and received it and had a great view of DCA. You really don't see much of DL.

The rooms are average for a 3*. Nothing special, but clean and comfortable. The coffee shop is a little hokey, but the service was quick and the food was OK.

**I do have strong reservations about staying there again. During our stay, the fire alarm went off at 2AM. No personnel from the hotel assisted guests in evacuating or directing the to safe assembly areas outside. We noted only two hotel staff during the entire evacuation, one sitting on a curb BS'ing with a guest and another answering calls at the front desk. There many elderly guests and small children which really could have used the assistance.

I have followed-up in writing with the hotel General Manager, Westcoast Hotels corporate, and the Disney Good Neighbor Hotels folks. The only response I received was from the GM, (via email) and provided me with no confidence that adequate corrective measures had been taken.

Unless there is an emergency, this is an nice place to stay. Prepare to take care of yourself if anything (think earthquake) occurs.

We just returned from staying there last weekend. We got a bid via Priceline for $40/night. We were very happy there. It's about a 10-15 minute walk to the parks. There is also a shuttle that runs every 1/2 hour.

The rooms size was good - very clean.

I would stay there again with a doubt.

We stayed in August. Its a nice hotel, clean though in need of updating (old worn doors, tub, etc.) not bad but the Marriott was nicer. Close walk to the tram in the parking lot (saves walking). Coffee shop was moderate, had some free kids meals which helped to balance the value out. We didn't use the pool, though a coworker stayed in July and loved the pool. We had a view of DCA and a large balcony which was nice. Fridge rental was $11 for the week, much better then WDW. I'd stay again.
