At least I didn't get a third degree burn on my feet while walking to the pool, which happened in Scottsdale. :lmao:

That's it!!! And yet, I remember as a kid we prided ourselves on being able to walk across the street to my grandmother's house barefooted in the summer! Well, OK, we RAN, but still...

Out west we measure by neither miles or kilometers, we measure by time. 2 hrs and 45 min to my sister's house, 3 and a half hours to my brother's, 6 hours to Spokane, 18 hours to Disneyland. I have no idea the miles to any of those places.:confused3

I knew that was true in SoCal, although isn't everything 45 min. from everything else? ;)

You know, now that you mention it, to myself that's how I measure distance. I never really paid attention to whether that's how other people did it. I'll start noticing.

Absolutely......we miss having dinner with you and Darrell. We can see what time we'll get to Jacksonville and share a meal if convenient. If we're coming through at the wrong time, maybe you could meet us in Orlando? We'll definitely get together when we come.

Or maybe even both!

I'm so out of the loop when it comes to technology, I just thought there was something out there similar to the Blackberry but called a Raspberry, maybe made by a competitor or something like that. :rotfl2: Seriously!

I thought the same thing :thumbsup2

We ARE going to WDW this December (8-16) to christen our brand new DVC membership! Anyone going to be there during that time???

Missing everyone!

We'll be there the 11 - 14th! And Marilyn and John will be there around then too.

Too funny!! We just had this conversation yesterday - when someone asked how far it was too work in PA I would tell them 22 miles. Here we say 50 minutes (and it's only 20 miles :scared1: )

I'm hoping we can find a place in Jacksonville that we can go back to distances by miles.

We saw Get Smart today. One of the funniest movies we've seen in a long time. Steve Carrell was great as Max Smart and Alan Arkin did a terrific job as the Chief.

We picked up our framed Ducky Litho and the cruise pins mounted on the board (If you can't tell, I'm not working today. I had taken day off because we were supposed to be back home and celebrating today).

The framer, who is a couple of blocks from our house did a really nice job. If you're all good I'll take pictures of the pictures.

If I'm feeling industrious I'll also take photos of our neighborhood (neighbourhood for our friends to the north and east) to give you all a flavor of Lincoln Square here in Chicago.

That's "FLAVOUR"
:rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao: :goodvibes

Identity thieves are putting in change of addresses here. The news said if you don't get mail for a couple of days CALL and the post office has now started verifying before initiating the change of addresses.

Thanks Angie... Mail's been irregular here too, but we did get it today... maybe they are lookig nationwide...

:...and rode bicycles without helmets and skated without pads.....

We got 10 people in a 2 seater Porsche and went to senior ditch day in the bed of a truck!

& lived to tell about it...

The CRUD may be complicating the legs and the legs may be complicating the tummy.

I say GO TO THE DOCTOR as SOON as you can. Tell them about the crud when you make the appointment--it may get you in FASTER.

You are no good to Ray or John when you are laid up.

Since being a CAREGIVER is what you do well, take care of yourself so you are healthy enough to take care of others.

So, Monday--EARLY--call the Doc, OK?

PLEASE??

Jan :earsgirl:

OK Jan, I will.

NAN WINS !!!

Ihave had this Blackberry for a couple weeks and I have been calling it a Raspberry because it is red and NAN is the first one to comment on the DIS or in person !!!

Jan :earsgirl:

Do you remember that when I got mine last Xmas I called it the same thing ;)

Darn it, every time I think I'll pop on for a few minutes and catch up before posting, I get distracted with something else. I've given up on tyring to catch up before posting. I'm just gonna jump on in here. We're firmly entrenched back into "normal" life, although almost every day one of us says, "I miss the ship...." (Or in Erik's case, " I miss MY ship..." Tis the season here and every weekend we've had multiple graduation parties to attend. Life is just SO busy. I miss the quiet "nothing pressing to do" days on the Magic, sitting in a lounge chair looking for green lanyards!

OH, Deb, I'm SO sorry they're bothering you again! You looked like they were doing well when we saw you with Woody in Redondo Beach. I'll keep you in my prayers!

Thanks Tracy.....actually they were good when we saw you in Redondo Beach with Woody. I was still taking the steroids then and that keeps the edema and swelling down and no leaking and doing good. But I can't stay on the steroids long term......so it's back to square one.

Hmm.. Is this the free deal you mentioned yesterday? Is that going on at all Coldstones or just there in Michigan? Maybe I should hop on over to my local one and ask. A & W had free root beer floats on Monday! YUM! Haven't had one of those in YEARS!

I just figured I was behind the times! They have the Blacberry Pearl, and the Blackberry Curve, and I just figured they were calling this one the Raspberry!!! Shows you how much I know!

Hey, it can be like a progressive dinner! A progressive vacation! I LIKE IT! I vote for Marilyn's house....Oh, wait...that's right we're too broke to get there....HMMM... Nan's? Oh, wait, they're on fire up there......I guess we'll have to start at your house!!!! Break out the poker chips!

I must have missed something in my frantic skimming! What happened to hiring the neighbor boy for $15? Sounds like a great deal to me!

My best friend always told her kids (and mine!), "You're not bored, you're BORING!" Now all of our kids know better than to use the "b" word or they'll get that lecture!

Okay, I'm going to TRY to keep up here.

Unfortunately we're not going to make it on the Tortola cruise after all. We "have" to go to Hawaii next year for Alison's choir concert, so that's going to eat up all the vacation $$ for then.

We'll miss you not being on the Tortola cruise, but to HAVE to do Hawaii instead......I fully understand! Have fun!

We'll just miss you.....we'll be there at the beginning of Oct. Oh Well. Enjoy your new membership and have fun with the mouse!

Cherie..we had a heat advisory here..I believe in Nans county only..which is funny cause it's hot ALL OVER, but I guess their more special down there. ;) The weatherman this morning said "there's a heat advisory in the south bay, but it's going to be hot everywhere so thats silly" it was funny to see him say that and roll his eyes.

I would have thought it would have been hotter up near you. Our car read 111 tonight at 5pm. Crazy!

I've been asked by Paul to stay home from the racetomorrow. He doesn't want me or Molly being in the heat. I'm worried for Wilson. I suspect that the heat where he will be, Atwater, central CA will be VERY HOT tomorrow.

Marilyn,

Canada is a pretty big place too. I just looked it up and I am 2649km (1646 miles) away from DL. We are 4306km (2676 miles) from WDW. Just in comparison, I checked out your distance from WDW and it came in at 6867km (4267 miles). Interesting, I always thought I was about 24 hours away from DL. This would seem to indicate that I am actually about 27-29 hours away.

I think Kaylee is the closest to me in Washington and even that is about 10 or 11 hours away I think.

You Tourist you!!!

If you want the picture... I can try and send it to you... just PM me...

No thanks Michelle. I was able to steal a good enough copy of it from the posting here. :cool2:

Here's what ours says:

EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT THIS AFTERNOON AND SATURDAY AFTERNOON FOR THE INLAND VALLEYS AND LOWER DESERTS...
.HOT WEATHER WILL CONTINUE THROUGH SATURDAY UNDER STRONG HIGH PRESSURE. HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL RANGE FROM 105 TO 110 IN

Hmmmm.. Lemme check ours.
No warnings of any kind. Currently 62* here at 10pm. Still not dark enough for fireworks, but the sun is definitely setting. Temp this weekend is supposed to get all the way up to 75* with 35% humidity. Woo wee that's gonna be a real scorcher. Looks like that is going to be the high for the rest of the month.

I would love 80 right now. But then the pools would be cold.

Same here. I'm 1.5 hrs away from work. 7-8 hours from Vancouver. 9 hours from Edmonton. Less than 5 minutes from downtown. 10 minutes from the west side of town to the North side.

Ken...

Don't start...

You know how Canadian things gets Ian upset this week...

That was ONTARIO, not CANADIAN. HUGE difference! There's Ontario and then there's the RoC (Rest of Canada). Right PJ? ;)
