Hey....what about me...I actually turned them over to you.....:rolleyes1

it was a communal thanks to all Lisa, for creating, you for handing over and the rest of the bunks (are they called that?) for the moola :rotfl2:

I did not know the Beavs were playing Boise State this year....and in Eugene?? That makes no sense. :rolleyes1 Sorry, could not resist! :rotfl: :lmao:

Angie....don't forget if you MH travels bring you in the vicinity of Mt. Rainier give us a call! Our driveway is a bit curvy, but can accomodate a MH! :goodvibes

Any my low points on the Cruise was some dis people avoided us as we thought that not our fault for being disability but as their problems not our as we were happy on the Cruise and glad to had two interpreters made us laugh too. No need for some people walked past us without saying hello etc.

Deborah,

I'm soooooo sorry that some people (any people - DIS people or not) would avoid you b/c of your disability......but then again you're a better/bigger person than they are so you're better off w/o them in your life.

I, for one, enjoyed meeting you & your family. I really enjoyed sharing the parasailing experience w/ Ian, and I LOVED every hug and smile that Olivia gave me. I wish I had been able to get to know Keith better, but there is always next time :)

Hawaii, we are there in a heart beat....my other favorite place to be besides WDW. Alaska, would probably do, just because it is DCL, but brrrrr...when I think cruising, I think sunny and tropical.

I agree. Friends and family have done Alaska, but I just can't get into it. Must be where we live and have lived. We have walked on glaciers in Montana, seen lots of game animals and caught salmon in Oregon. I want sunny, tropical too!! Of course, if DCL goes there and our DIS friends are on the ship we would definately give it a go. :thumbsup2

::yes:: ::yes:: it was fun at the pajama party. That's where I got the "Beast". That was French toast with grilled pineapple over and in between and fresh strawberry type syrup over it and the island fruit. Oh my, how delicious it was. I would imagine 1000 calories. :lmao:

OOOO that was good!!!!

I recorded it but didn't watch it yet because I have so much to catch up on.

I remember watching it years ago when it first came on the air. I loved it the most of all the "reality shows" but for some reason it didn't do well and they took it off. I'm so glad they brought it back.

Its not the same without Anderson Cooper. Though this new host is much better than when they did the Celebrity Mole!

<rant>

OK, I am going to go into a rant about scooters and wheelchairs and people who abuse them when they really should be getting more exercise and moving their tuchases rather than sitting on them.

I lived through the trauma of taking care of my father as he had more and more pieces of his legs amputated.

When he first lost part of his foot, he was determined to stand on his own two feet (literally) and walk (though with the aid of a walker). He was 86 and determined to be mobile on his own. He then had his leg amputated and learned to walk with a prosthetic limb, which I might add, he achieved. He then lost his other leg and finally became wheelchair bound, needing care for nearly everything.

It crushed his pride and frustrated him.

I get really annoyed when people abuse and electric scooters due to laziness, or abuse of rules.

</rant>

OK now for the part that isn't a rant, a couple of stories, now that I'm on the topic of my father. For those of you who met me, you might notice from the following that a rather bizarre sense of humor runs in the family.

[warning, if you're queasy do not read on]

I was with my father in the hospital when he was waiting for the operation to amputate his first leg. The nurse came in with forms for him to sign. He asked the nurse what the forms were for. She told him it was for disposal of the leg. He told the nurse that he wanted the leg back after the operation. She asked him why. My father told the nurse he wanted to make it into a lamp. Both my father and I cracked up as the nurse looked at us in horror.

Next story.

I took my father to a restaurant. We were waiting to get in, and a little kid was staring at my father and asked him what happened to his legs. My father smiled and said, "I was absent minded and forgot them on the bus."

So - did anyone else picture the lamp from "A Christmas Story"?:rotfl:

Sounds like he was a great & funny man.

The documentary was on tonight on Chicago public TV that Sukie appears in. It was odd to see him on the television. He was one of a number of "talking heads" during the program.

It appears that they did a little rearranging of our house (I wasn't here when the interviews were shot).

Sukie has two very large (18") figures from Pirates of the Caribbean, Jack Sparrow and the Keith Richard character, Jack's father.

The director moved the Captain Jack Sparrow and it appears behind Sukie (a bit in the distance and blurred).

I asked Sukie, "You mean they moved Jack Sparrow to be behind you?" He said they moved all sorts of things around the house to "dress the shot."

Odd to see some of our rooms on TV. Even odder to see Sukie. He was good though. I was very proud to see him on screen and the caption appearing. "Sukie de la Croix. Historian"

anyway, some lovely usa and calofornia people are lovely too. Shame that I have not met more disboards, think I missed some.

Hey, maybe we meet up in Oct on Cruise, that would be nice:thumbsup2

I don't think you are bad mom, you just like me take the kids out of school and made the kids enjoyable times.:thumbsup2

Scottishwee35

I really enjoyed talking to you. It was funny though everytime we saw you I talked really loud to you. Maybe I thought you could hear me if I yelled at you!:rotfl2: It was great also seeing you and your family at DL.

This really bothers me.....I wish there were a way that all parks (including non WDW parks) could do something to only allow those who need a wheelchair get one.

I have rented ECV's at WDW several times (and manual wheelchair 1x when I had someone to push me around)...and have had MANY people give me bad looks....probably cuz I "look" ok....I've felt like I should put a sign on the back stating "I've had 2 knee surgeries and still waiting for nbr 3 so leave me alone".
When I took my mom's friend to WDW she need an ECV as she has horrible feet issues. However she wouldn't ride them in the store for fear of breaking someone of something. I know people said rude things about her. Just b/c some people can walk without one at some points, doesn't mean they don't need them. She has since had surgery and is doing better but those ECV's are a pain and expensive.

I agree with you. Alaska is on my things to do, but warm places totally win everytime!

Blow off that cruise and join us on the Eastern Repo. Sounds like you had a great time.

Well, I'd love to as I have some good friends cruising with you. But, alas, it's a just a tad pricy $$$$. Also, can't get off work anyway.

It was a great cruise and you are really going to enjoy it...don't even need to get off the ship! :thumbsup2

Well, worked till 8PM tonight, then grabbed dinner from Cheri's favorite spot....the QT gas station by my house! Got gas for under $4 a gallon. Got a hot dog, Fritos and 32 oz of Diet Coke for $3. Not the best dinner....but CHEAP!

Oh and I grabbed a Lotto and a PowerBall ticket too....just in case. Had a dream two nights ago that I won money and paid off my Visa, my car and paid for a cruise for me and my sisters. I'll take that! ::yes::

.

Thanks everyone for the kind words on the pics. I still don't have all of them up on my website yet, I'm currently only on Acapulco.

Thanks also to those of you who have left comments on the pics. It's really nice reading comments from people other than just my family!

I'll post another link when I get the rest of the actual cruise pics up and loaded. Hopefully will be this weekend.

Currently busy printing out pics from the trip for Shaelyn's school homework. Sent her to bed after she picked them all out - now I just have the tedious job of actually printing them. And here I thought the days of staying up late finishing homework were waaaaayyyy past me!

Deborah, we are still talking about how great it was to meet you and in particular watching Olivia at the High School Music Dance Party as she was so excited by it! (Yes Gaylean, that's the one you SHOULD have attended with Brooke ;) )

Shannon is missing not being able to head down the Rocking Bar D and seeing Bubba, V, Steph, Gaylean, Marr and all the "bad influences" (remember Gaylean, I'm the straight laced one!).

I need to extend my thanks to everyone on this cruise who helped to make it so special and memorable. Everyone was so great, I only wish I had more time to sit and talk to everyone, but it just seemed like I was busy running from one thing to another with hardly much time to stop and chat. Panama Canal day seemed to be the best for me just wandering Deck 10 and stopping to chat with everyone all day. It was great!

There is no way I can personally thank everyone for all their efforts on this trip and if I start to mention people by name, I will forget someone and feel bad. So let me just say thank you to everyone, those I met and those I just ran out of time and didn't get to meet. Each of you helped in your own little way to make this journey certainly a magical one for me and my family. And for that I am eternally grateful.

When I first looked at this cruise I was concerned over the number of days at sea as I am not generally one to sit around and do nothing. I like to be moving and doing something. 15 nights with only 5 ports scared the living daylights out of me, thinking I was going to go stir crazy. But I really wanted to try the Canal, and it wasn't everyday you get to do this type of thing so we booked it. And I found this group. This group saved my sanity. Yes, I know it's hard to believe this group actually SAVING the sanity of a person, but it's true. I truly believe that without the ability to meet and interact with the members of this board in the manner that we did, I would have gone stir crazy with the days at sea and the trip would not have been nearly as much fun as it was - not one iota! In fact, this group actually had me looking forward to sea days and dreading the ports when we all went our separate ways. So again, thanks to everyone for really making this one special voyage that can never duplicated again.

Ok group hug and then time to talk football ...

You're the straight laced one :rolleyes1 Tell Shannon I'll meet her at Rockin Bar D anytime....or anywhere else she wants to! What is the right time of year for us to visit? We need to get some use out of these passports!

Between now and August is the warmest. When we got home it was actually warmer here than it was in LA.

Now if you want to visit in the cold and snow (for a nice change) January and February can be pretty reliable.

Or if you want to give Brooke and Ethan the chance to trick or treat but needing to pick out costumes that will fit over their snow suits (do they own snow suits?), then come up for Halloween for something different!
