I have not seen anything about West Wing in the fall lineup. Will they make another season? I really enjoy this show and have been looking forward to the election. Is there anyone more "in the know" out there? Thanks!

Yes, the new season starts next Sunday. It's on here at 7pm. It's on tonight too--I'm guessing the season finale from last season.

We used to watch this all the time. But since they changed writers we didn't care for it that much and lost intrest. Maybe we will give it another shot since it is a new season.

When the new writers took over, they really struggled to keep the characters in character. They had people doing things that just weren't things that those characters would normally do.

But this past year, they really brought it back. It centered around the campaing to be Bartlett's successor in the White House, focusing mostly on who would win the Democratic nomination. The season finale ended with the nominee being named, and next year will basically be centered on the race to the white house.

West Wing is probably my favorite show ever, and believe me, nobody could be much more disappointed with the first season post-Sorkin than I was. But it's definitely worth giving it another shot.

I've really been enjoying the West Wing lately. I've always liked but never watched it diligently. It always confilicted with something else. I did finally get a DVR that can record two shows at the same time, so I did see about the last half of last season. I really thought that season (at least that half) was excellent. I'm also trying to catch up on reruns. I'm about halfway through season 2 right now. Do you happen to remember when they changed writers?

If I'm not mistaken, it was at the end of season three. Aaron Sorkin left the show, and season four was just...I don't know. Seasons one and two were what made the show my favorite, but I just about gave up on it when Sorkin left and things started out the way they did. Thankfully, they got their act together this past year, and really seemed to find their groove during the last few episodes of the year, culminating in the best season finale since season two.

West Wing is one of my all time favorite shows. It did go downhill sometime after the re-election of Bartlett (which they did in 2002) But it came back last big time. So many questions:
1. The leak from the West Wing--Maybe Karl Rove should pay attention to this plot line!
2. Will Leo's addictions become a big issue in the campaign?
3. Who will win?
and my question:
4. When are Donna & Josh going to admit their true feelings for each other??????

This was my big complaint also. Hadn't the new writers ever watched the same shows we did?

With the notable exception of The Supremes. That was an amazing episode during a horrible season. Aaron Sorkin had to have been a ghostwriter on that one! Too bad the man who sits in the real White House never saw it.

That was an awesome episode! Bravo's finally been repeating that one--it was just on a few weeks ago.

Yeah, what he said :teeth: :teeth:

I just noticed last night that Josh hands Donna and Will both a beer at the end of the show. Maybe they will get back to being friends at least. I had not paid attention to that detail when it was first aired. I also wonder what will happen about the leak. It could have been either Toby or CJ. Alan Alda would make a great president but I think it will be Jimmy Smits. Looking forward to watching!

I noticed that as well last night.

My guess for the leak would be Toby -- doesn't he have a brother that works for NASA (I seem to recall an early episode where he was stuck in space)?

I've also heard the same as others -- that Jimmy Smits wins the election.

Yes, Toby's brother worked for NASA. He committed suicide last season. Toby did tell CJ about the "other" space shuttle. I really think CJ was the leak.

1 - You guys are absolutely right about "The Supremes"...I'd forgotten that episode wasn't one of Sorkin's. :teeth: Funny thing is, I've even referenced it when talking about the current SCOTUS debate that is going on.

2 - The obvious answer in regards to the leak is that it was CJ. If they want to get "tricky", they could make it somebody like Tobey's "assistant" (Kristen Chenowyth's character...can't remember her name). Actually, I think that may be the direction they go, since I don't think she's going to be with the show much longer (too many other commitments).

I didn't know that his brother killed himself. I didn't watch that season--I'll get to it eventually. As far as the leak, I do think it's CJ. Sunday's episode (the season finale) eluded to someone "big" in the WW. I don't think that would be Toby's assitant--I think her name's Annabelle. When Kate (Mary McCormack--not sure what her job is) was talking to Toby about it, he didn't really look guilty. When they kept showing CJ, she looked guilty/nervous. Of course, I'm sure Toby has a great poker face--maybe CJ knows that Toby did it. He also said--in last week's episode--that his brother would not want to risk national security to save his own life. That doesn't mean that Toby would abide by his wishes though. When the episode first aired, it didn't even occur to me that it could be Toby. But, after seeing it again and analyzing it, I'm willing to be open to the possibility. Still leaning more towards CJ though.
