West Coast and Internet Cafe

Hello,

Does anyone know about the technical aspects of how the Internet Cafe works? I assume it's some sort of high speed satellite similar to DirecPC or DirecDuo that landlubbers get, but it works while in motion (I think there are similar technologies/services for RVs, but I don't know if the internet connection would work while the RV was moving).

The reason I ask is because I want to make sure the high speed Internet Cafe on the boat will work on the West Coast (or during the repositioning trips). I don't know if the satellites are just pointing to Florida, the Caribbeans, and the Bahamas, in a geostationary orbit, or if it'd work anywhere in the world.

Thanks!

In doing some research for your question, this is the company Carnival uses on their ships:

I bet Disney probably uses the same or similar agency. This group has a satellite network that covers all the ship's oceans, according to the site. It only requires a small frequency change to dial in the new satellite.

thanks greysword.

i used to know the company dcl used (i jotted down their url when i was on a 4 day cruise in 2001), but i can't remember it anymore. i don't think it was mtn tho. i wish i could remember.
