If so, what instrument did you play?

Was it a good experience for you?

Do you still play your instrument?

If you have kids, are/were they in band?

Anyone play in college band?

My answers:

Yes.

Alto Saxophone

Such a good experience, I became a band director myself. :teeth:

I still play for my students, in my church orchestra, & for fun.

Both my DD's played. Clarinet & French Horn. My youngest is attending college on a music scholarship.

I played in the Univ. of Houston Cougar Marching Band & The University of Texas Symphony Band.

Yes I was. Band is among my most favorite memories of high school. I played the flute, majored in Music Ed until I met my now hubby, who was a senior Music Ed major. He has taught band and general Music for 30 years! Our children have been in band. One plays trumpet, one flute. The flute player is about to graduate with a Music Ed degree and will be a band director soon.
I still play some in church orchestra and for fun.

Yes. I marched Honor Guard and percussion.....:D In college, I did Color Guard and percussion.

Yes, I was and I loved it. I had a blast. I played flute, don't play anymore. My boys don't play any instruments right now.

If so, what instrument did you play?
Clarinet and tenor saxophone

Was it a good experience for you?
Yes

Do you still play your instrument?
Sometimes

If you have kids, are/were they in band?
No kids

Anyone play in college band?
Nope. I went to Ithaca College my first two years; everyone was much better than I ever could be.

What instrument did you play? I played the flute, gave it away to someone. I still have my piccolo.

Was it a good experience for you? Yes, they were great memories from high school. The marching and the competitions.

Do you still play your instrument? Unfortunatelly no.

If you have kids, are/were they in band? My oldest DD is starting to play the clarinet. Had her first 5 lessons a few weeks ago. She will be performing a song for the elderly next week.

Anyone play in college band? I don't recall the college having a band.

I am ashamed to admit that our entire elementary school abused our poor music teacher. His name was Mr. Bell - and looking back, I realize he was a sincere teacher, who was just a little off. He had no control over his class - EVER and we all abused the situation.

In 8th grade I realized that I actually liked music - but it was too little, too late. I cannot read a single note of music.:(

My children, on the other hand, have thrived in music - and both were in the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade bands and chorus. My daughter (flute player) was then on the HS dance line (she just graduated in June). My son will be a sophmore and plays the trombone in the Jazz Band, this will be his 2nd year. Marching band/jazz band are two different classes and he could only fit 1 in - plus he's on the golf team and the after school practices conflict,

Band Family - Grandparents, parents, 3 brothers and me

I played the trombone. My oldest brother was my hs band director (he's 12 yrs older), his wife was the asst band director. It was a great experience. No I don't still play. My 17 yo niece is a senior in hs this year and loves the band as well. My 11 yr old niece started the trumpet last year.

Yes, I was in the band. I played flute, but for marching band in highschool I did flags. It was a wonderful experience for me. I loved doing it and made lots of great friends. No, I don't still play my instrument nor do I do flags

My DS is only 13 months old, but I hope he'll have an interest in music.

My DH is a music ed major. He's a percussionist. He played in the band at his first college (marching and concert) and now at his current college he does ensembles but not marching.

Yes, I was in band for 2 years in high school. But my high school did not have a marching band because the director didn't like them.

not me. I'm not a band geek, just a geek. I was in the photography club, newspaper, and debating team. The high school that I went to though had the number 1 ranked marching band in all of SouthEast Asia, so a lot of kids wanted to be in the band. Just not me.

If so, what instrument did you play? ... marching band I was feature twirler (fire, knives, etc.) and concert band saxophone

Was it a good experience for you?...definitely

Do you still play your instrument?...no

If you have kids, are/were they in band?...they're too young

Anyone play in college band?...I went to an all female college and there was no band but I taught young girls in the community for a little extra spending money in college

Yes, I was in the band. :)

If so, what instrument did you play? Alto saxophone during concert season; I was in the flag corps for marching season.

Was it a good experience for you? Yes! I had a wonderful time and have lots of good memories.

Do you still play your instrument? Nope. I'm still involved in music, though; I sing in the choir at church and play handbells.

If you have kids, are/were they in band? No kids.

Anyone play in college band? Yep. Played alto sax in both the marching band and the second jazz band (sort of a junior varsity band... :p ).

If so, what instrument did you play?

Flute/piccolo in Band, tenor sax in jazz band

Was it a good experience for you?

Loved it!

Do you still play your instrument?

Yes. I don't have a tenor sax but still play my flute.

If you have kids, are/were they in band?

4 of my kids were in band, one wasn't. One played flute, one french horn, one alto sax, and one trumpet.

Anyone play in college band?

Yes, I went to college on a music scholarship. I had a double major in college: Music Ed. and Elem. Ed. I later decided not to be a Band director after graduating. I became a elem. classroom teacher except for 3 years as an elem. music teacher.

I was. I started off as percussion in my early years. When we moved to Florida, I became a baton twirler. I'll have to admit, we were pretty good. We went to lots of camps, events, and competitions.

My DSs are now in our local (PA) high school band and love it. They play trumpet and trombone.

Yes, I was in the band for 4 years and loved it.

I played clarinet and alto sax.

I started out working on a music minor in college, but had to drop it because it was too much along with my major. I wish now that I would have stayed with the music and given up the other major. I attended Indiana University of PA. which had a very good music program. I played in a concert band for one semster, but didn't audition for the marching band because I didn't think I was good enough (and I have regretted that ever since). I also sang in one of the choirs for several years.

I still play my clarinet in our church orchestra. DH bought me an alto sax last year for Christmas, so I have just started playing that again, too.

DD and older DS are both in our HS marching band. DD plays clarinet and DS plays french horn/mellophone. Younger DS wants to be a drummer and will probably start lessons this year. He helps with the pit crew for the marching band and can't wait until he can march, too.

DD did guard and percussion in HS, marched in a drum corp also. Going off to college in a few weeks and will do guard again. Being in a band is the best....great friends.....lots of great memories!

Instrument? Saxaphone. Played mostly Alto but the Bari was my favorite (even marched with the darn thing).

Good experience? Yeah. Kind of being a part of an extended family.

Do I still play? No, the sax is at DW's school.

My kids in music? No. DD6 seems to prefer gymnastics, soccer and swimming. DD3 - We'll see.

College Band? Concert Band (a JV band too) and Pep Band.

High School. I went to a small school and over 1/4 of the student body was in band. Plus my school let fall athletes join the marching band, so I got the pleasure to do both soccer and band. Band Camp was at a college 45 minutes away and with no parents ..... My wife is in music education and we hope to check out a marching band festival once in awhile.
