were you able to order chicken tenders when not on menu?

Hi all... my ds ( 12) has mild aspergers, sensory issues, and other quirks. When we went to disney last summer I had a list of what TS places served chicken nuggets (only lunch/dinner item he will eat). for example, the only TS in MK with Chicken nuggets is the crystal palace. There are none at any of the resturants at the GF, only 50's prime time at DHS has them. Epcot is very limited too.

So my question is was anyone able to order chicken tenders for a child when it wasn't on the menu? either allears.net menus or the actual one?
Thanks Jill

ps I want to try different places and am tired of CM and CP buffets

My son has a chicken nugget thing too :rotfl: We've been able to get them off the menu at Ohana'. I've also heard of people getting them at CRT and Tony's.

I think it's one of those "safe" items they always keep on hand.

I'd call the WDW-DINE line and ask for the dietary number. I know you don't exactly have a dietary need, but it's for a special needs/picky child. They might be able to help you out.

I called them once last Nov when we had breakfast at CRT. My DS won't eat eggs or their signature puffed french toast. I was assured if he didn't like the kids meal of french toast the chef would make him anything he'd like. The chef even came to our table and assured my son eggs would not be on his plate :) They go out of their way for children. I wouldn't hesitate to ask about nuggets, I really think every restaurant keeps them on hand.

Will he eat the new chicken breast nuggets? (used to be strips?) Or, do they have to be "chunked and formed" nuggets?

If he will eat the breast nuggets, why not get his food at a CS location prior to the sit down meal, and then let him snack on other options, or just have dessert at the TS meals?

I have a picky eater too (2 of them, actually). One has autism, so I know where you are coming from with the sensory stuff.

To be completely honest with you, if it were me, I'd just skip TS meals that did not have them on the menu. I'd skip buffets too, since I feel the value would be completely wasted on my kids. We'd probably just do mostly CS meals and then maybe a couple TS meals at places where I knew FOR SURE there would be something on the menu that BOTH kids would eat.

This is the single biggest reason why we will NEVER do the DDP as a family. I don't want to feel compelled to "get my money's worth" or feel compelled to have to eat so many TS meals. Just too much stress.

We went to Tony's for the first time this past Feb and even though it isn't on the menu, DD was able to order chicken nuggets and fries - it even came with the cutest miniature bottle of Heinz Ketchup!

Thanks all-- I have thought about feeding ds 1st (CS) and having him have dessert or grapes (he loves the small containers of red grapes at disney- go figure)... but as I am the only one with him, I would feel self conscious being the only oner eating a meal. Silly I know.

And I went to Tony's this past January to the podium and asked about the chicken tenders off the menu and was told no. Kona btw said yes (and it wasn't on the menu)
I may try Tony's again--- who knows... I like a TS option when we are there in the summer--- a longer rest in the A/C. It definiitely wasn't as impt this past Jnaury.

PS my ds LOVED the chciken tenders at T rex- we even went there twice that trip (the noise didn't bother him though we used earplugs at other disney things)
I liked the salads (the totally unhealthy kind lol) at T rex too
