Were you a kid in the 60's? Do you remember this game?

I don't remember playing Slapstick, but speaking of old games, I remember playing Green Ghost when I was little. I haven't seen that one around since I was a kid. It glowed in the dark and you played it with the lights off.

I got Green Ghost as a birthday gift. It was a pricey game for the time, and my kiddie social status skyrocketed because of it. None of the other kids in the neighborhood had it.

This holiday season I was looking in the toy section of stores and finally saw Kerplunk. But no luck with Tip-It.

And of course I had to spin the wheel when I encountered The Game of Life. It just doesn’t have the same sound and feel as the classic version. The pop-o-matic thingy on Trouble still sounds and feels the same as always.

Oh yes, I had forgotten about Life, but it was another one we had/have. And Go To The Head of the Class.

I had that game too. I looked it up and discovered the original was from 1970, with updates in 1976 and 1996.

I had the 1970 version. While the game itself ( an art auction) wasn’t all that exciting after playing two or three times, several paintings intrigued me so much that I eventually bought prints and have them hanging in my house.

My game had to be the 1970 one also. I too enjoyed the paintings. My first exposure to art history. I know that game is still in the attic as we played it one holiday within the last few years.

I never played Slap Stick. Early games I recall included Chutes and Ladders and Candyland. As we got older there was Kerplunk, Crazy Clock, Monopoly, Stratego, Password, Scrabble, Yahtzee, Risk, the Outer Limits, Masterpiece and RSVP.

I’ll have to take a look in my mother’s attic to see what else there was, as most are still up there. My children played with them too as they were growing up when we were there for holidays and other visits.

And per a previous poster’s comments I played Green Ghost. One of my cousins owned that one. I remember reaching into little boxes with I believe feathers and rubber bands in them to retrieve the pieces you needed.
Masterpiece! I forgot about that one! We had it!
