We're sitting here waiting for Tropical Storm Hannah to come ashore!

It looks like the storm is over for us. We had lots of rain and strong winds, but nothing major & no damage. It is still cloudy, but no rain & no wind. It seems to be headed north into Al & Ga. It should rain itself out before too long. We're just glad it was not a Hurricane. Maybe this is the last one we'll see this season.

Serena, there are lots of people who go to the beach to watch the waves, before it gets really bad. The video that the weather man shows is really neat. The waves and clouds are so pretty, but I wouldn't want to be there in the heart of it. They evacuate the beaches 1st thing when necessary. Fortunately, there was no need this time.

Thanks for the good thoughts!

We are getting the rain now. Its off and on but when its on its pretty heavy at times. We are so thankful to get the rain as long as the wind stays away! Hope everyone stays safe.

How are ya doing?

Weather channel is reporting you have a dewpoint of 80 and it feels like l0l down there.

Saunalike!

We have never had a dew point that high here in minn.

Must be hard to breathe!

Herc.

Hi Herc - It is very humid here, but that's pretty common. It's worse than normal today. You're right, it is very hard to breathe. Gotta love the A/C.
We are north of P'cola, in the country. We got about 4" of rain & maybe 35-40 mph winds. P'cola had 66 mph winds! We went into town yesterday afternoon. There were limbs down and lots of leaves and debris. Glad we're north of town.
About this time every year, we start looking for cooler weather. We have times that the A/C is on while we put up the Christmas tree! There aren't many times that we don't run the A/C. Most of the time it is more for the high humidity than for the heat.

Now we just sit back and hope there is no more Tropical activity headed this way.

Hi poohstyx,

Glad things have calmed down for you guys.

Still got a lot of rain and wind in a short period of time, tho.

Hopefully, things will mellow out for awhile.

Here n Minnesota, we are looking for a hard winter again, after two mild ones.

Maybe I'll get to Orlando in Jan,. Like to come to the Panhandle, too, we'll see. Never been in Jan, but this year I don't have to worry about school breaks. (two in college).

Herc.

Exactly where are you? We get to the Panhandle about every 3-4 months. My inlaws live in DeFuniak Springs. My dh aunt lives in Ft Walton Beach. Actually he has all 3 aunts here in Florida. Another is in Panama City and the 3rd in Jax.

When in lived along the coastal south, I used to love watching the huge waves roll in, before the storms. It's incredible watching the surfers in the waves too, although I would never do it.

Don't forget to beach comb after the storm too! :D

Glad that it's not too bad for you! :D

TH, We are just slightly north of Pensacola - in the country.
When you are going to be anywhere in the panhandle area, let me know. We love to take road trips and often end up in Panama City or Ft. Walton. Or we'll head in another direction, to Mobile. We love to travel. Have you ever been to P'cola?

minnipumpernickle, the waves look really neat - on tv! There was 1 drowning from this storm. A surfer - so sad. His brother was surfing also, but he is ok. College students.

Hey Poohstyx,
I got to see TS Hannah up close and personal! I drove down by myself Friday (how brave is that- to drive INTO a TS on Friday the 13th!!)
I got to Perdido Key just as the heavy rain hit
 I had to come down for the annual condo owner's meeting. It was important, lots stuff going bad that had to be discussed. I didn't try to meet with you since the weather was going to be bad and I had to leave on Sunday morning for Tennessee:(
I sat up watching the surf get worse till about 10pm, went to bed and awoke to terrible winds around 6am. Watched the waves breaking about 5 ft higher than normal. They came over the dunes pretty high. The power was constantly going off. What got me were the winds.... they closed Theo Barrs bridge ( the one over the intercoastal) at 9:45 am.... winds were gusting to 66 mph! The meeting was 2 miles down Perdido Key drive, the whole time driving I had to crab into the wind:eek: But by the time the meeting was over at 12:30 pm, it was already looking better outside and by 5pm the sun was out:D
I'm coming back in October, I'll give you a call and try to get together then!:D
MJ

Perdidobay! Here I was, relieved that you weren't in the area and were safe. How was I to know that you were going to head right for the coast!! I'm glad everything turned out ok.

I'll look forward to hearing from you in Oct. We may be gone the middle week of Oct. But, maybe there will be time for a short visit, anyway.

Thanks for letting me know about your adventure. ;)

Poohstyx,
Sorry that a surfer drowned ! Rip currents are nothing to mess around with. Maybe next time I see surfers braving the storm waves up here, I'll try to stop them!:(
