We're Sailing to....Disneyland? Lots of Pics! GANGSTA KINGDOM 8/31

Just finished. Great work! Good detail and super pics! :thumbsup2 Your grandbabies are precious! You sound like such great parents and grandparents, and your family is blessed to have you!

I felt so sad for Donald! Our Taylor is the same way, and always has been. She is starting to get a little more adventurous for her "old age" of 10, but not much! We have had to do the kid swap thing many times, or one of us just miss out on a ride. Luckily, we've been fortunate enough to to be at WDW at slower times, when we were able to ride our faves multiple times. Megan has gotten to go on many of the rides many times due to Taylor being a fraidy cat!!

We lived in Oakland, CA for several years as a kid, then had an aunt and uncle that lived there even longer, so I have visited Disneyland several times as a kid, but never as an adult. The last time was in 6th grade, and we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel!

p.s. Stil waiting to see 1st birthday/cake pics!!:)

Hi Tammie!

Thanks for the surprise in the mail.

You're welcome! I was thinking about my DIS pals while I was gone - alot of the pics were just with you guys in mind!

Back to reading!! Oh, I picked up a white onsie at Walmart on my way home! I am going to make my neice a cute onsie, like one that you did for Londynn! I may need some coaching!

I'd love to help! It is so fun to create those shirts!

Thanks Pam! You need to go back to DL!!! It is way different than when you were 6! I feel bad for Donald, too. He keeps bringing it up..."but I didn't want to ride that one..." We keep trying to tell him it's okay, he had fun anyway. Last night he saw pics of the Nemo sub on my screen, and he asked me 20 times if he had to go on it next time! :rotfl2:

Poping in to say hello...I am getting excited....lol

You're getting closer. Once the planning is done and the tickets are purchased, it gets hard to wait...:rolleyes1

Where have you gone?:confused3

I'm sorry. I hate to be one of those reporters. Since the kids started school and I have the babies all day, I am working more at night and I am so exhausted, I can't post anything. I fall asleep as soon as I start getting into my screens.

yesterday I had some time and energy to post, cuz I had a "mother's helper" here, but the time was taken up with downloading more pics to photobucket.

I am determined to do an update tonight, and then I am going to the ocean this weekend for a retreat. There's no internet there - pretty primitive on our coast - cell phones don't work there, either - or so I've told my DH :rolleyes1 I am looking forward to some ME time!:thumbsup2

Sorry it is taking me so long to post this update - I have been so tired from babysitting and working, I just couldn't think! I'm here tonight, even if I can't think! :lmao: Who knows what I might write!

Tues, July 1st

We didn't get a wake-up call this morning - we decided not to do early entry at DL, and today was our CA day, which opened at 10am! So we could sleep in....or not... When you have a baby, you can plan on getting up early. We all woke up about 7am, had a leisurely breakfast in the room, and we were out the door and down to the lobby for coffee by 9:30! We were dressed in matching "Team Manfull" shirts with baseball Mickey ears. We are a baseball family, so we loved this design! (Thanks DISign boards!) I stopped at the concierge desk and got a ressie for dinner at Hook's Pointe for dinner at 6:40.

We strolled through DTD, and passed through the GC hotel, which I didn't take pics of- sorry, we were on a mission. Anyway, they have a secret entrance into CA, which is only for resort guests. So we were in the park right at opening, with no long line to deal with. (This was a dancing banana, but I was 3 images over, so please use your imagination!)

We decided that Donald might like to climb on some things in the Brother Bear area, and Grizzly Bear Rapids was calling to Goofy and Tink. We stopped for a photopass pic - a CM took this one for us. I still need to finish my photopass and get it ordered, BTW.

100_1872.jpg

We saw that Grizzly Bear Rapids was a 5 min wait, so Donald and Tink hopped on line, and we went to a viewing deck with the little ones to "wave and mommy and daddy when they get wet!"

100_1866.jpg

Donald, Jiminy, Tink and I headed in to the Brother Bear play area. This is a really cool play area for kids, with all kinds of bridges and tunnels and rocks to climb on. There are CMs dressed like park rangers, and the trees and vegetation and decor are definately "The Great Northwest" which is home, so not as impressive to us, but still fun!

100_1885.jpg

This is fun for us - Mt. Shasta is in Northern California, and we can clearly see it from all around our hometown in So. Oregon.

Some little animals left these tracks:

We got all finished exploring Brother Bear Country, and headed over to Bug's Land. We were hoping Donald might "get a bug" and decide to ride something. Well, he really enjoyed hanging out at the fence and waving at whomever was riding, but that's it!

Tink, Minnie and I rode Heimlich's chew-chew train. Really cute. You can smell watermelon - it squirts "watermelon juice" on you. You can smell the gingerbread cookies.

100_1886.jpg

We stopped and looked at Ladybug Boogie, saw some of Jordan's peeps, but Donald decided this one was a "no go" so we kept walking:

It was 11:00, so we headed toward the Golden State area. This area is full of California culture.

There is a "Golden Dreams" pavillion with a movie of California's history.

The Pacific Wharf area has clam chowder and sourdough bread, a real tortilla factory with tour, and a tour of the Boufdin bakery with sourdough bread. There is also a Chinese restaurant, Lucky Fortune Cookery, and Rita's Baja Blenders - one of two places to get alcohol in CA.

We looked at the bread tour - it was dark, so Donald decided not to stay. We went in to the tortilla factory and saw part of the tour. It was fun to watch the tortillas produced on the conveyor machine, and they gave away fresh tortillas to eat! Yum! :goodvibes

We headed over to Cocina Cucomonga Mexican Restaurant. This was delicious and reasonable food for lunch! I had a Tres Leche cake for dessert. It was delish! It was a white cake with sugared syrup made with cream poured over it - Loved it! :lovestruc We had delicious chicken burritos and tacos. sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

I just fell asleep, so I think I will continue on tomorrow or Sunday!

Next: Doors, Doors and more Doors!

Just glad to hear everything's ok!:goodvibes

Those kiddie rides looked adorable!

Tammie, wake up!!!! Stop sleeping on your keyboard! :rotfl2: You have so many great pics in your TR - love it!!!

Great pics, Tammie! The CA park looks adorable! I wish that I would have taken my girls when they were younger. Myles looks like he had so much fun, despite his shyness to go on rides.

I LOVE the bows on Londynn's onsie! Did you add them?

I've been looking at the DISign boards a lot, trying to decide what my first project will be. Haven't decided yet...There are so many cute ones. I love all of the ones that you did. Talking my family into matching shirts in Nov 2009 might prove difficult. At least I have some time to warm them up to the idea. :rotfl: We've done coordinating/character shirts before, days that we all decided to wear our Disney shirts at WDW, but I don't remember ever wearing exact matching shirts. I love the idea, and they are all adorable.

Have fun at the ocean! Sounds wonderful to me - no phones, no computers. Pure heaven! Enjoy!:cloud9:

I love all the pictures, your family is so cute! - and the shirts you made are just too cute!!!! You did such a good job on them I thought that you had them made professionally somewhere!

That prompted me to get up and make myself an amaretto milkshake!

Hmmmm.... LOL

Ooh - that reminds me of a drink we used to make: a Banana Frosted - cup of milk, scoop of vanilla ice cream, amaretto (as much as you'd like), one banana and some ice; blend and enjoy! Sooo good.

:scratchin Think I may have to pick up some bananas today!

I'm back - just not sure how awake I am! :rotfl: Thanks for the compliments! :goodvibes

Hi Pam! We put the bows on her onsie! The only red onsie we could find was a boy's Grrranimals one, so we "gussied" it up a bit! If you can convince your family to wear the shirts, it will be really fun making them!

Oooo, that sounds delish!

I'm back - just need to get a little caught up and I'll do another update!

Hi! Since I still need to catch up, here are some pics from Lincoln City, where I stayed this weekend. This is the house: My bedroom was on the right on the top floor - it opened out to that balcony with a great view of the ocean across the street!

This is our view of the beach from the right side of the balcony:

Our beach can be very cold - the water is frigid - but this weekend it was sunny and warm most of the time - beautiful!

The milkshake was YUMMY! And I would have definitely liked it with banana, too. Mmmm...

HEY! OREGON COAST??? That's only a hop, skip, and jump from me!

travelmel <---- PDX

It was hot here this weekend... I bet the coast was SUPERB. Don't post too many pictures.. we don't want people getting ideas about it not being rainy and gloomy here year round!

Great update and pics... I really like the Baseball t-shirts and I love the beech house My computer was attacked by gremlins this past thurday and I finally got it working today...whew...I almost went and bought a new one.

Tammie - The house looks so neat, and the view is spectacular! Glad you had fun! We missed ya!

Thanks for the compliment - those shirts were fun! I'm glad your computer was saved! I'll get another update done on Friday.

It was awesome! I have been trying to catch up over on the other thread, but fell asleep again before I could post! :lmao:

When I left off a long time ago..... we had just finished a great lunch and Goofy and Tink took the kids back to the hotel for a nappie.

YIKES! I've been so busy I forgot to purchase my photopass pics! :headache: I had them all edited, and then I couldn't get it to download any of mine - I tabled it until later and then later never came....let that be a lesson, I guess. :sad2:

Okay, now back to our regular scheduled programming. Jiminy and I decided to do a couple of rides and maybe get a fastpass or two for our "date night." We headed back toward TOT, but decided that we didn't feel like free falling , so we looked through the Disney Animation store - saw some really cool drawings we'd like to look for at WDW in March. I tried to talk Jiminy into a POC one, but he decided to wait.

We headed over to Monsters, Inc. I was sure I hadn't been on this before - I had nap duty alot when we were there 2 years ago with Donald. This was a walk on, so we went looking for the right door to ....:confused3 I just don't get this one - not a fan of the movie, so I usually get busy and don't finish watching ....I'm a little confused as to what exactly our mission was, but there were lots and lots of doors....

100_1900.jpg

This lady told us that if anyone asked, we were never there, or that we hadn't seen any children... so you have to keep my secret...:rolleyes1
100_1901.jpg

We headed over toward Paradise Pier:

100_1904.jpg

We didn't expect to get a chance to ride TSM this trip with all the stories we heard about long lines, and no FP. Well, as we walked by, we saw that the wait said 40 minutes. We decided it was worth it. It turned out to be only 20 - and really fun! This ride is great!

The queue is not fun, like at DHS - you are routed through the facade of an ice-cream parlor looking building - mostly out in the sun - the only interesting thing going on is that half the line is across the street along the CS ride, so you can watch the victims taking off... and when you get toward the front there is Mr. Potatoe Head barker.

100_1905.jpg

100_1906.jpg

You travel through carnival games with your 3D glasses on, and shoot various items - plates, balloons, etc. like you are part of a huge video game! You get sprayed with a little bit of water and air - your "shooter" is like a little cork gun - you pull a little string to fire the cork - I actually beat Jiminy - probably a first ever!   He didn't enjoy my celebration too much! :lmao: We came out on an upper floor and then took a staircase down to the "dump" store, where a friendly CM talked to us for awhile about what we enjoyed about the ride.

We headed back toward the hotel - we had ressies at Hook's Pointe for dinner - on our way through DTD, we saw the girls from Libby Lu's doing a dance routine - they enjoyed that I wanted their pic:

The "boys in green" were showing off in their glass case:

Next up, Splishn' and Splashn' and eatin'

Great update! I'm really looking forward to the Toy Story Mania ride when we go out next month. The que line for it at WDW looks so much better if you've see any pictures of it... Looks like it's all indoors and themed nicely. :confused3

BTW your grandkids are soooo adorable.

Looking forward to reading more. :surfweb:
