Great TR Tammie! I missed ya!
LOVE the pix of course!
Glad you had a great birthday. You deserved it!!!!
(Also, glad you liked your card)

I am loving your trip report! Thanks for the great pics! You're making me wish I was there!

I hate to say this (cause the ride is so popular) but we rode the nemo sub ride last fall, and since we had previously been on the Nemo ride at Epcot, I couldn't help but compare the two, and personally feel the WDW version is so much more fun. It might have been where I was sitting, but it was so hard to see everything through the little windows, where at Epcot it is all around you. The kids loved the WDW version so much that we must have ridden it 10 times in our last trip (we were there in Jan and there were never long waits for it). After waiting 40 minutes in line for the DL version last fall, I can honestly say we will be skipping it on our next trip. Even my munchkins weren't that thrilled with it. Don't get me wrong, it's a cute ride, just not worth the long lines IMO when there is so much else to do at DL.

Am I the only one who feels this way??

Thanks for reading! I agree with you on this one. I really loved the one in Florida for it's imagination and theming, and it was a much better story line and view - also the way you come out in the tank with the real sharks and sea turtles! Although it was fun to go in the submarine, and it is a cute idea, I didn't feel like you could really experience the "ocean" from the little windows, and the story was really disjointed, kind of like it was developed by an 8 yr old boy playing in the bathtub! :lmao: "We're going under the ocean to see the sea life, oh! there's a fish - we're looking for a fish - Oh! There's a giant octopus - He might eat us! :scared1: Yeah! We got away! Oh! There's a huge explosion! We are driving through it - Hang on tight! Now it's dark......oh! there is that little fish - Nemo-Nemo....Oh there's your friends, Oh, there you are!!!!! Yeah we are back home!!!!! Please watch your step and hold small children by the hand....;)

Hi, I really like all the Nemo Pics...Ive always wanted to be in a submarine( I was a Jaques Coustowe sp? fanataic since I was young ) and the fact that you actually get to go bellow the water is the appeal for me.

I really enjoyed the novelty of the submarine, too! And I did like the original submarine ride that was there - I saw it the last year it was operating. I think it is a must ride once, like a classic!

Tammie - Great update!

First of all, you all look great in your t-shirts! Can I say again how much I love all the colors you chose? They all go so well together.

DisneylandParis does the same thing w/their room keys/park tix/room charge card. I remember having to always carry around all three; they looked at my like I had three heads when I asked about it all being on just one card! I thought it was just a "Europe" thing; funny to hear they do it that way too in DL. Wonder why all the parks can't be in-synch and do things the same way?

How did you like the Nemo sub ride? I always thought it looked cool - and we loved the old 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. My girls really do enjoy the Nemo ride at Epcot - how do you think they compare?

Thanks Cammie! Our shirts got alot of attention! Lots of people wanted to know where we got them. I should have had the website listed on our backs! Ha! I do wish they would do a KTTW card everywhere! As for the Nemo comments, "sea" my comment to BigSkyerNurse above! :goodvibes

this is so cute!!!!

glad you guys had a fun dinner. looks like a great place! i love that alice was there.

Thanks Dawn, it was really way more fun than several years ago when we did it! They are getting this one right for sure! :thumbsup2

Debbie!!!! Welcome home! I'm glad you're back, too! Thanks for reading!

Having conquered the undersea world, we were off to the races! We headed over to autopia, which Goofy and Donald had checked out. Donald had given this one his quack of approval :thumbsup2

100_1686.jpg

Now somewhere near the front of the line, Mr. Donald started getting a little worried - "but those cars go REALLY fast!" :rotfl:So Gramma did the unthinkable. She offered a bribe  I had seen a little gift kiosk right next to Autopia, so I told Donald he could have some Candy from over there if he drove a car REAL SLOW! He bit.

It is amusing to note here that he has a power wheels tractor which he operates exactly like the autopia - crazy fast all over the yard! He even does tricks where he stands on the front with his feet on the wheels and moves the gear shift with his hands - not sure how me makes it go, but it moves :confused3 He loves to be pushed on the swing until he is as high as you can go and he is catching air! So at home, he's a daredevil :goodvibes

Okay now back to our program - We boarded our little cars - Goofy and Donald, Tink and I and Minnie, and Jiminy was alone. The race was on!!!!

100_1694.jpg

Now Jiminy was worried that I couldn't drive, so he warned me not to bump into Donald and scare him - THANK YOU....

It was funny though, us girls had a little economy model car - peach colored - and it wouldn't hardly move! I would have the gas all the way to the floor, and it would just sit there and then sputter and die, then I'd get it started again, and we'd take off quickly, then if I let off the gas a little, it would get stuck again. Tink and I were laughing until the tears were running down our faces! I think this was the most fun I've ever had on Autopia! :lmao: Of course, Jiminy was behind us thinking that it was just as he suspected, I COULDN'T DRIVE! :rotfl: We arrived back safe and sound with a big :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

With much fan fare, Donald picked out his candy, a little bundle of Mickey head suckers - they are still in the bundle, untouched to this day! Donald rarely wants to eat candy, he just likes to know he can. He would rather have fruit any day! :cutie: We got a return FP for this one - it was a keeper!

Next: Time to shoot Zurgg!

i totally missed your nemo installment! when i read something about undersea adventures, i thought.....hmmmm....i'm missing something here. so i just went back and read it. looks like a really cute ride! i hope by the time ray and i make it to DLR one day that the line won't be so bad as it is all the time now. and it's so funny that your car wouldn't go - stuff like that always happens to me!

Tammie - you're doing a great job of explaining all the differences between DL and WDW! Thank you! :worship:

Oh, Thank you! You are coming from Austrailia? How long will you be at DLR? Are you visiting any other cities while you're here?

Tammie - Cute pix! And a little bribe never hurt anybody!;)

Thanks, Cammie! Whatever works, right? ;)

It is cute to see once. I don't think it will be really popular for too long.

Thanks, I'm glad you are following - sometimes I can get a little wordy.

Hi, nice update...What else can you bribe Donald ride...lol whatever it takes :goodvibes:

Oh, you can see what's coming....:rolleyes1

We are spending a week on Oahu, & then we go on to DL, we have a 5 day hopper & I don't think we will see much of LA but...... this trip is for DL

That sounds wonderful! I really want to go to Hawaii some day! Maybe with DVC points!

Tammie ~ Wonderful report!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 I'm really wanting to go back to DL again! The hotel you stayed in looks really nice. Did you find alot of advantages to staying on property at DL? I know it's quite a bit different from staying onsite at WDW..........the perks are just not the same. We stayed offsite last year at DL at the Candy Cane Inn (and LOVED it) and may look into staying on property next time we head to CA.

Too bad that your car didn't work too well on Autopia, but glad you made the best of it! That's the kind of thing that usually happens to me!

I'm really enjoying your report......can't wait for more! :goodvibes

You'll love it there it's beautiful & so much to do.

I will be so excited when I do go! I earned a trip to HI with my company a couple of years ago and then didn't have enough vacation time on my other job to take it - now I only have the one job, so I think next year they are offering HI again - so if they do, I'll be there!

Lynne! Thanks for reading! You know there really aren't that many advantages to being on property - you get EMH every morning at DL via monorail, so that would be the best thing, but they seem to change things on a whim so you can't count on the monorail running at that time, and there are no EMH lines, so you can't get in early any other way. They do have the package to hotel delivery service, and of course it is nice to be right in downtown Disney. They also have a "resort guest only" entrance at CA, which works both coming and going if you show your key. There is concierge service available to all guests, and you can charge to your room. That is a way to take a shortcut into DTD. Also, if you are a resort guest, self parking is free. I enjoyed the close proximity of the hotel to everything, especially with little ones who need to get naps and get cooled off during the day. I have heard good things about the Candy Cane Inn, though.

We did have fun in that little car! :goodvibes

By this time we had heard that an evil empire was trying to take over the Star Alliance, so we headed off to help Buzz Lightyear save the day! We grabbed a "Otopio" FP for later!

Now those of you who don't believe in bribing little children, please close your eyes.....oh! That would be me, so I guess I'll have to open them in order to report here....:rolleyes1
Gramma and Mommy thought that if Donald rode this ride willingly, we would all have a good time, and he would see by the end that he could have fun! :thumbsup2 So Gramma told him that if he rode this ride, he could choose a toy when we got off - it was a go!

As you can see, Buzz was a little apprehensive about this whole experience. He cried through alot of it, and kept asking, "What is that?" around every corner. At the end, he seemed pretty happy, but I think it was because it was over! :rotfl2:

Here's a pic of Minnie in her endeavor to save the world:

71ad8f53.jpg

As the ride was coming to a stop, Tink and I were so busy looking back to see how Buzz was doing, that we weren't paying attention. The front of the car popped open, and took little Minnie with it, because she was holding on to the handle! :scared1: Our poor little girl was terrified! She wasn't hurt, but it pulled her right off Tink's lap, so she was pretty scared. :sad2: We felt so guilty.

Okay, once we figured out that everyone still had all their fingers and toes, it was out into the "dump store" for all things galactic! Donald made a quick beeline for a stuffed Zurg - that was his reward for surviving this terrible adventure! :thumbsup2

Donald considered how he could take on the world:

We looked around Tomorrowland a little bit:

100_1704.jpg

Then we decided to have some lunch at what Donald called "Pizza Planet," Red Rocket Pizza Port. Jiminy and I split a ceasar salad and chicken fussili with white sauce and some delicious focaccia bread with red sauce. Even though this is a very fast food type atmosphere, the food is always delicious and pretty reasonable here. They give a Disney Vacation club discount of 10%, which saved about $5.00 for the whole family. Tink had spaghetti and meatballs, Goofy had pizza, and Donald had a toddler meal of mac and cheese and applesauce. He shared some applesauce with Minnie, who was eating her baby food.

Donald and Jiminy got done really fast, so they went to the arcade, and the rest of us joined them soonish.

Goofy thought it would be fun to be electrocuted:

We decided to head over to Frontierland and see what kind of bandits were hanging out there.

We stopped for another photo at the castle:

100_1708.jpg

As I took this shot, I called it "the back side of water", but it does look alot different on the back side:

100_1712.jpg

In Frontierland, we passed BTMRR - Donald didn't think so! :rotfl2:
100_1714.jpg

I don't know why this photo won't stay rotated :(

We saw an ad for river excursions, but thought we'd do that another time:

We headed over to the Shootin' Gallery to see what kind of trouble we could rustle up:

100_1717.jpg

Now Donald decided at first that there were scarey things in there, but once he saw how they worked, he decided to try his hand at shooting. I don't think I ever figured out if he liked it or not :confused3

Good catch! I forgot to mention the gun difference! I think it should be easier to score with the hand held, but I think my score was better at WDW! :rotfl2:

"back side of water" - I got that one!:lmao:

Great shots of Disneyland. Everything looks like it's on a much smaller scale. It's also good to see you got Donald onto some things so far - bribe or no bribe. I say, ya gotta do whatcha ya gotta do!

Minnie, on the other hand, looks like she doesn't have a care in the world!:cutie:
