Well, I had planned on taking my parents to Disney for their 45th Wedding Anniversary (we took them on their 40th). We always go in August (their anniversary is June 14th) and that's what we planned for this year. Well, since my dad got sick, it never got past the planning stage. His cancer is in his back and although he is doing well, he can't ride in a car for long periods of time. I don't know how he would do if he was on a plane.

Anyway, I am hoping that one day soon I will be able to take them both down. They do love it so and the three of us turn into a bunch of goobers when we get there. :p

Anybody got a spare hug

hey :( , hope your dad gets back to normal soon

((((((MickeysMommy))))))

So sorry:(

prayers for a speedy recovery
sorry he can't make the trip right now
but his recovery will have to come first
you'll take him as soon as he's up to it

That's heartbreaking.:(

Is a plane completely out of the question? 3 hours vs 24 might make a world of difference.

I wish there was an easy answer.

Awww always a bummer to cancel Disneyworld plans. *hugs*

Best wishes to your father as he battles that evil beast!

Oh, and a early happy anniversary to your folks! June 14 holds a special place in my heart as well. :) :sunny:

Thanks, this has been tough the past 8 months or so. He has the BEST sense of humor ever and he is really doing well.

The last time we were in "the world" was August of 2002 and that was right before my divorce was final and the three of us just *needed* to go. We *need* to go now but we shall see. I keep telling the both of them that I am going to rent those scooters for the two of them (Mom has problems with her back too) and I'll walk in between them :)

At times, it just "hits" me and I get a little sad. Everyone around me seems to keep telling me that they are going to Florida and I tell them I don't want to hear it. It makes me  I just hope that we can get there together.

Thanks for letting me vent.

Hope your dad gets to feeling much better soon so you can get them down to WDW. I know how you are feeling our Sept trip which was for our oldest daughters birthday had to be postponed due to my knee operation and she keeps a smile on her face even though I know she is dissapointed. So are my wife and I. Hope you are feeling better soon with this and tell your dad this just think dad soon you will be at WDW riding Splash mountain and Space mountain and all the other great stuff they have then pull out any videos you may have of past trips and sit and watch them. It will bring a smile to everyones face.

:( I am sorry to hear this. Hope things get better for your family:hug:

I hope that your dad improves really soon.......

At least enough to enjoy a trip to see the Mouse-

You deserve a big {{{HUG}}}. That's too bad about your trip. I guess this is one of the downs they talk about in life. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I hope your Dad is better soon.

So sorry to hear about your trip but I sure hope your Dad is doing OK.

{{{{HUGS}}}}

I am sorry, Stacey, to hear that.'s Hoping dad feels better soon, sojnds like a great guy, you have a great family.

Here is a  for you Stacey.

Since you can't take them to WDW, how about bringing WDW to them?

You could make up a WDW Anniversary package:
personalized Mickey ears or the bride and groom mickey hats
t-shirts of their favorite character, theme park or attraction
guest of honor badges
a WDW CD of theme park music
favorite Disney movie
Mickey Mouse lollipops or other candy

If you live nearby or are planning on being there to visit them, make a recipe from their favorite WDW restaurant. You can also get a small cake and add the Mickey and Minnie wedding toppers.

If your Dad really has a good sense of humor, rent a princess to visit. You can find a company under children's entertainment or in the local family magazine.

With a little creativity, I think you could have a great time at home. Just think about what makes WDW magical and try to recreate it.
