We're late for a very important date May 2013 TR Updated 5/17 New TR started!

Maybe it's because I have young kids of my own, and lots of my friends are starting their families, but I thought your exciting news was something else at first. Not that a Disney trip isn't exciting (trust me, I'd be bouncing off the walls if we could afford to go right now)!

Haha! Just couldn't keep it in, huh? Hooray![/QUOTE

I didn't last very long, did I? :lmao:

Yay on another trip!! I'm getting jealous of all the DIS-ers going in May...

Can't wait to hear about it and see what the older-and-wiser version of Gavin thinks about WDW this time around.

You know what's funny was just this past week I was telling DH about how on just about every TR I was following they all announced they were going in May at the same time. I never thought we would be following suit!

I am SO looking forward to seeing Disney through a toddler's eyes. There is going to be such a huge difference between 9 month old Gavin and (I think he will be) 21 month old Gavin.

Sometimes, you just need to go back to your happy place. :goodvibes

We'll be there in May, as well! Seems like a lot of DISers are going then. I don't know what your dates are, but if you're going to be there between the 12th and 16th, we'll have to meet up and let our boys meet. :thumbsup2

I need this vacation so bad, so yes - bring on the happy place!

We are just going to miss you unfortunately :( I'm sure one of these times our trips will sync up!

Just what I was gonna say!! :rotfl:

Yay! Can't wait to meet you & family, Melissa!!

Yeah I think I lasted 2 days haha! I did manage to wait 16 weeks before we told anyone I was pregnant with Gavin though, and it didn't bug me one bit not knowing he was a boy before he was born - does that count for anything? :rotfl2:

Just came across your TR... may trip here too!:)

May will be here so soon! Thanks for reading!

If Gavin was getting a brother or sister that would be way better than any Disney trip! I can see why you would guess that though, I know a lot of people that are pregnant right now.

Congrats on your upcoming trip. Nothing is more fun than planning a new trip. Well, except for getting there! :thumbsup2

YAY!! Another Disney Trip!!! When I read you were going in the Spring I was hoping it would be the same time as we were going, but we are going the week after Easter. So, we are getting down to crunch time now...so excited!! Happy Planning! Can't wait to read all about the details.

Planning the trip is definitely half the fun!

I think we are just going to miss each other since Easter is so late this year. I hope you have a great trip!

That's seriously exciting that you will be there the same time as us! I'm glad to see you do the reveal!

I've had some catching up. The photos of Gavin over time just go to show how incredibly fast they grow up. Those photos of your little guy playing dress up with that tie was adorable. :)

I've only seen Characterpalooza inside the Animation Building. Do they only do it on Streets of America now? Do they do it every day? So many questions! ;)That was a lot of characters that showed up. If they are only out 20 minutes or so I suppose you can't see them all.

My hubby asked to eat at "that restaurant that has the cars you eat in" in May. He must have liked Sci-Fi the one time we went there together! I like the burgers, pretty much only the burgers. Yep, I love the theming!

Great PP photos on Hollywood Blvd. I remember the baby climbing up the side of mom moments! :p

The burgers and shakes at Sci Fi are so good! I haven't had one in years, but I remember that they were worth making the ADR there for. :thumbsup2

I always got a kick out of how you sat in cars to eat, but I wondered how easy that would be with a baby in a highchair on the side. Do you feel like it was harder than eating at a regular table or about the same?

When my family had lunch at SciFi we had our 13 month old in a high chair next to the car, and it worked out just fine. sometimes a lot of twisting/moving to feed him, but it wasn't any more complicated than any other restaurant.

Great update! Looks like everyone had a good time and good meal. That Picnic burger is simultaneously appealing and frightening to me. :rotfl: I might have to try it someday, though. You didn't miss out on the chocolate peanut butter cake - we had it way back when and it wasn't very good - pretty dry - and I love chocolate and peanut butter, so that's saying something. I'm glad Gavin did well too. Nice Photopass pictures on the way out of DHS also! :thumbsup2

I'll chime in on this too, since someone asked this on the family board a while back. This was my answer to them:

Long story short, we hadn't planned to go there, but ended up eating there with 2 babies when we met up with friends at DHS during our trip last month. Our daughter was 14.5 months and theirs was 11 months. They put us in a regular car and set up high chairs to the side of the car, facing us, for each of our rows.

What I found awkward was that the babies can't really eat off the table and there are no trays on the high chairs, so I'd plan around that. We ended up running out to the stroller and grabbing our daughter's snack cup and having her eat from that and also suck down a baby food pouch. Our friends spoon-fed their daughter. Both worked fine, but she usually self-feeds off her placemat, so that was different.

Also, maybe our waitress was just super awesome, but it ended up being a very kid-friendly meal and good experience. Our friends knew their daughter was hungry and ordered an entrée right away that had mashed potatoes as a side - just to feed her. The waitress understood what they actually wanted and just brought out a side of mashed potatoes at no charge. Also, later in the meal, she brought out cups of goldfish crackers for each baby and I think she also brought ice cream at the end, if I remember right. Very nice!

congrats on going back and having your next trip booked - very exciting!

Looks like you had a good time at SciFi - sometimes just a good burger is all you need.

Quite the photo session - bunch of great shots!

Love all the PP pictures. They all turned out great.

If all goes as planned I will be having lunch at Sci-Fi on Friday! I am so ready for one of their burgers. Guess I better check out the menu. Those desserts look amazing!

So, you decide to wait until I am preparing to go away and during my trip to do all of these awesome updates?!? ;)

All caught up now

:cool1:

First, the update with Gavin's monthly pictures and the pre/post haircut pictures are so cute! Wow, he really is getting to be such a big little boy.

I remember Ben's first haircut- his little curls were cut and they have never come back! :sad1:

And congrats on your news about a return to the World! Can't wait to hear the details and read all about it! Every trip with your growing boy is going to be such a different experience!

I'm back at France with you. I haven't been to the new bakery but I certainly remember the tempting treats on display from my last visit.

Once, the CMs refused to give us the crème brulee to go because it was too hot inside!

Sorry you didn't get a ride on Test Track and that the boys card didn't seem to be working correctly.

Characterpalooza at HS looks like a lot of fun, but since my boys do not do the meet thing, I don't think we will be checking that out. How great that Gavin enjoyed the characters. What a smile!!!

I love your pictures in the car as Sci-Fi and the photopass pictures! You got your money's worth with that PP photographer!

Sci-Fi is a must-do for our boys. As you may recall, I vetoed Ben's request to get the picnic burger. A little confession- your picture is the first one I have seen, and I swear that what I was picturing was a whole hotdog, IN A BUN, on top of the burger!

:rolleyes1

Looking forward to reading more when you have the chance!

One of these days, I am saving room for dessert at Sci-Fi!! The ones you got look so delicious. Where is the drooling smilie when you need it?

Adorable PP pics. :cutie:

I am really excited to be there at the same time too! I need to get crackin' on trip plans.

He is growing way too fast :(

It's on San Francisco Street in Streets of America, but sometimes in the echo lake area. I get my information from Kenny the Pirate. I think it's closer to 15 minutes so it's hard to see them all.

after reading all these updates lately in TR about Sci Fi (yours, mine, Dee's, khertz) now I'm wondering if we should book a lunch ADR there. We only have one day in DHS and it's a half day so I hate to take park time away for a sit down meal but the burgers! Plus that's one of the few places that have ADRs available for when we want them. Decisions, decisions...

The burgers and shakes at Sci Fi are so good! I haven't had one in years, but I remember that they were worth making the ADR there for. :thumbsup2

I'm seriously considering a lunch for Sci Fi on our next trip. Gavin was so little when we went that it wasn't a big deal. He was self feeding off his tray. Maybe if you had a baby or toddler you actually had to feed it might be a little awkward. You could always request one of the regular tables in the back.

It sounds like you had a good experience with little ones at Sci Fi. That's a bummer about the chocolate peanut butter cake. I love all things chocolate + peanut butter so it would've been my first choice.

The burger isn't as scary as it sounds. If you can tell in the picture, the hot dog is sliced really thin - it might not even be a whole hot dog on the burger.

congrats on going back and having your next trip booked - very exciting!

Thanks, we are very excited! SciFi was so good, now that I'm re-living it I want to book there again for our next trip :thumbsup2 Thanks! It definitely helps when you have a cute baby ;)

I LOVE Sci-Fi! So glad y'all liked it as well!

Hahaha I love the shirts. :rotfl:

I know it's corny, but I'm a fan of matching shirts.... in Disney only ;)

Well I was on a roll but already falling behind again :confused3 I tried! Part of the reason I had such a hard time getting his hair cut the first time is because it was getting long enough in the back to cute and it was so adorable. He has such nice hair I was afraid cutting it would change the texture. Luckily it didn't but no more curls in the back :sad1:

this trip is going to be so different with Gavin as a toddler (walking... err running!) Last trip he was not mobile at all and was happy to ride in the stroller or the ergo. It should be interesting but I'm really looking forward to it!

That's crazy they wouldn't give you creme brulee to go!

Ohh your boys are too old for characters already?! That happens way too fast!

The CM that took our pictures in the car wasn't a photopass photographer. But he did a good job!

LOL. The burger wasn't as bad as it sounds. It's sliced thin, I'm not even sure if it's an entire hot dog on there. Maybe Ben will be allowed to get some next time ;) I would've done the same thing though without seeing it,that just sounds crazy.

One of these days, I am saving room for dessert at Sci-Fi!! The ones you got look so delicious. Where is the drooling smilie when you need it?

Adorable PP pics. :cutie:

Seeing those pictures again makes me so hungry. Leftover tacos just didn't do it ;) Thanks!

Those Friendship Boats are nice and relaxing, but I agree, they take too long! I guess if you're looking for a nice break from the parks they are convienent, but if you're just hopping from park to park I wouldn't recommend it.

Glad you made it on the last ride of Soarin' for the night! That would have been terrible to have waited so long with a fussy baby just to miss it at the last second. :(

Great update! I'm definitely looking forward to riding Soarin' again.

We are planning on using the Friendship Boats to leave Epcot and head over to our ADR at Beaches and Cream. I know it might be easier/quicker to walk but I think the boat ride will be a nice way to relax for a bit. After our lunch we might walk back...might help digest our lunch a bit :)
