We're Here! Live TR

Thanks Linda, we had lots of fun :)

Mrs Doubtfire, please ask any questions about US and I'll try answer.

Monday 19th

We got up and caught the 8 o'clock itrolley to Golden Corral for breakfast! I know breakfast was included at our hotel but I remember going here when I was 13 with my mum and dad and wanted to go back! Tom and I practically had he place to ourselves when we first got there! I loved the hashbrowns, Tom's favourite was the sausages! I couldn't believe they had a chocolate fountain for breakfast, I happily obliged and dipped some strawberries in!
We left and caught the itrolley to wet n wild and walked over to US, it was about 10am and I was glad we didn't have a bag with us because the bag check queue was huge!!

We were so full after breakfast that we decided to go watch Shrek 4D first so we could sit down! We both thought it was fun. We the. Went to queue for Transformers, it said there was an hour wait but it took 40 mins. All the queues were quite big today. Transformers was great, one of our favourite rides so far.

We decided to queue for Rip ride rocket which took an hour, I chose to listen to MC Hammer!!!! Tom chose Rockstar by NERD. I hated this ride! I felt like I'd been in a tumble dryer, but surprisingly considering Tom doesn't really like roller coasters he loved it! I even have bruises on my back. After that trauma (Ha) we decided to go on E.T. It was just how I remembered it and I enjoyed it.
Next was the Simpson ride. I like the Simpson area, it was really cool how they've done it. The actual ride left me feeling nauseous but I don't know if it's just because I'd been on too many simulator rides. I felt dizzy for the whole afternoon. We left the park and went back to the hotel.
I used FaceTime to call my mum which was good, I even said hello to my cat but he was a bit confused!
We decided to go to the Florida mall and caught the 111 lynx bus for $2 this was very straightforward. We spent quite a bit in Hollister and Abercrombie, great savings so I couldn't stop myself!
We caught the 42 lynx bus back to idrive because that bus came first then got the itrolley back to our hotel. We realised we hadn't eaten since breakfast so ordered some good from the pool bar just before 11pm.
It was a good day but very tiring.

I love that your cat saw you on FaceTime - I think ours would be confused by that too!

I remember my brothers (aged 18 and 25 at the time) having ice cream at a breakfast buffet one time. Choc dipped strawberries sounds good!

Did you notice if the Lynx buses would be simple for disabled passengers? Next year I think we have decided not to drive but my mum uses an electric scooter, so looking at bus (cheaper) vs taxis (more convenient) for when we go off site for shopping etc.

Another good day Claire !
How was the golden coral brekkie ? - never tried it !
Just love US - my fav park I think. I'll have to try Rip Ride Rockit but I think I'll give TRansformers a miss..I can't do Sims.. I watched a youtube vid of transformers and even that made me feel queasy ! Did you not get round to MIB or Terminator ? - My day would not be complete without them !

When are you off to YC ? - looking forward to seeing how the Magic bands work out for you ....

Tony

Scrap_Vamp I'll ask Tom when he wakes up if he noticed about the lynx buses as I'm afraid I didn't.
Tony, I do get very travel sick and suffer from dizziness quite a lot but I actually felt ok in Transformers because I actually felt part of the ride so I sort of knew which direction I was heading in etc. the Simpsons one was different because your vehicle doesn't actually move. Don't know if this is making any sense! Maybe you should pick one sim and try it as your last ride of the day?
We didn't do any other rides because I felt too sick after the Simpsons and the queue for MIB was an hour. We might go back though if we want a break from Disney over the next week and a bit.
I loved Golden Corral, it was yummy, would love to go again. It cost $8.99 and filled us for the whole day!

CLaire, grab a piccy of golden coral brekkie if you can....I'm going to be brave and try Spiderman next year :) DW and DS both love the ride and i always end up standing outside waiting.. Like you said, last ride of the day...just in case :) Ive tried Back to the Future and Star Tours and hated them :(

Keep up the reports and photos , they're fab !
Tony

Tuesday 20th - Check out day from SpringHill Suites means only one thing... YC here we come!
We asked if it would be possible for a late checkout and were told we could stay till 1pm which was perfect because we wanted to go to Aquatica first for rope drop. Tom loves waterparks. We got the itrolley at half past 8 and were there early ready for opening. We managed to walk on to all the rides which was great, although I was a bit out of breath running up all the stairs so quickly! We loved the 2 person ring slides and went down them about 8 times. Roa Rapids are amazing too though. We took a waterproof disposable camera and had some fun on the rapids snapping away. The weather was lovely and it was a great morning.
We checked out at 1 then got a taxi to YC! It cost $35 plus tip. When we arrived the CM asked I we would mind a king bed room which was available straight away. She then went to ind out magicbands but said they weren't there, I was disappointed but she gave us grey bands and at least we can still be part of the test.
Then we went to the room but were really disappointed it was really small and our garden view room overlooked the car park with a few trees in front. It was really noisy from the buses too. I decided to go ask if we could wait and have a different room. The CM just thought I was being fussy and wasn't overly friendly but I love our room now and have a gorgeous view of the quiet pool.

We went to the BC marketplace to get our mugs and were surprised to see the RFID mugs, the machines actually go live here on Sunday. I chose a purple mug and Tom chose Orange.
I had made some FP reservations for Epcot so we walked over, it's so close! We went on Test track, Soarin and the Nemo ride.

We chose to eat at Sunshine Seasons, I really liked the food and definitely want to go back. I had the chicken with cashew nuts and noodles followed by creme brûlée.
null_zps8cc522b1.jpg

Tom had sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, with a brownie for pudding.

We walked back to YC and went for a swim in SAB, it was so fun and great to be there after thinking about it for over a year. We even caught some of the Epcot fireworks from the hot tub!
It sounds daft but I feel so much more relaxed at Disney already. It has a completely different feel to US and I feel more at home here.

Today we are going to MK! Can't wait to see Tom's reaction to the castle etc :)

Yay for standing up for yourself and demanding a different room ! - worked out well !!!!!

Tony

I know! I have never asked to move rooms before in any hotel but I just felt disappointed and after I've been waiting for so long, I wanted it to be right.
This is the only rubbish picture I have of breakfast! I'll take more if we go back

Ha Ha - that IS the most rubbish brekkie picture EVER :) :) :)

Loving your report so far!

We asked to change rooms at Wilderness Lodge last year, as the room they'd placed us in was very close to the construction work that was going on at the time. They had no issues in moving us to a much quieter room with a better view. If you don't ask, you don't get! I'm glad you're pleased with your new room. :)

We're here at YC! Have a lovely view of the quiet pool, just heading out to Epcot :)

Photobucket isn't working but I'll try again later.

We are heading to YC in Oct and wondered about rooms near quiet pool,is it a good location?any pics would be great.we are heading to HRH after this and is it easy to get to I- trolley and go to the shopping outlet and perhaps Golden Corral?sorry for all the questions but you seem to know your stuff.there are 5 of us and I would prefer not to be stuck to resort for food but don't want to hire car.x

I'm glad you stuck to your guns with switching rooms. We would have asked to move too, especially paying all that money!

We also love Sunshine Seasons - the beet and goats cheese salad is delicious :D

YC looks perfect :goodvibes

I'm not a big coaster fan so US is more for DH and DD. I just worry that with fast passes for all hotel guests (and those who buy them) that the queues will take up most of the day.

Enjoy your stay at YC, looking forward to the rest of your report :)

Yay for updates ! :)

You did absolutely the right thing by speaking to the CM about your room straight away and I'm glad you got it all sorted

We love Universal but totally understand your feeling of being at home at Disney

Hope MK was fun :)

I'm definitely glad we did. I would normally just get on with it and not say anything but this room is so much nicer :)

I love the location :) It's quiet but it's lovely to look over the pool and see what's going on. Are there any specific pictures you want?
It's really easy to catch the itrolley from idrive it comes at least every 20 mins (We never had to wait that long) and there are loads of stops. It's just getting to idrive from universal. It depends if you mind walking, it takes about 15-20 mins. Although I do think there maybe a lynx bus but we didn't use it so I don't know about that, sorry.
We used the itrolley to explore idrive, it's so cheap to use and easy to get anywhere :)

Ooh I might have to try that!

New Doubtfire, I know what you mean. Queues did take up a lot of time for us but if you get there early it's not too bad and there are rides without any waits too so it's definitely doable.
Linda, thank you. Having a great time.

Yesterday was great at MK, I'll have to do my report after breakfast because I'm going to stuff my face with Donald, Goofey and Minnie now at Cape May Cafe!!

Don't mind the walk at all it will save us tons of $.4 adult and 1 child eating onsite every night is a fortune.we stayed at SSR and loved the quiet pool and have booked a water/lagoon view fir YC .originally fancied a lagoon view but now I'm thinking it would be good to just walk out to quiet pool.as fir pics was just wondering about view and location of your room. I have seen a few really bad reports about the rooms being really tired at YC ,is yours ok? :-)
