We weren't planning on going back until Kong's replacement comes on line...but the withdrawels became too bad to deal with. So yesterday I booked six nights at RPH, 12/20 - 12/26. Christmas in Orlando - we can't wait! We are strictly doing Universal this visit, no WDW at all. DH doesn't even want to get a car. He just wants to take a taxi from the airport to the hotel and fully immerse himself in all things Universal for the entire vacation...sounds good to me!

I will be checking in often. These boards are such a good source of information. Right now I just have one question for the experts - How bad can we expect the crowds to be while we are there? We will actually be in the parks 12/21-12/25.

Thanks for all the good info...looking forward to learning lots more!

I can't think of a better place to spend the holidays! Sounds wonderful and I bet you are very excited to plan the trip. I have never been during the actual holiday but always before when crowds are low. I'm sure you will have crowds but it should be bearable staying on-site! I have a question...do you have kids? How old? Every year I am tempted to do what you are doing but dont because I have all these holiday traditions that would be broken, but I really want to! Maybe once my youngest is a bit older and doesnt believe in santa anymore. Anyway....happy planning!:bounce:

I have one son who will be 15 when we go. My sister and her family are planning on going with us also. Her son will be 8. Our family usually has Christmas Eve and Day at our house and then we have the big extended family celebration the Saturday after at my parents', so that everyone can some. We should be back on Friday, in time for Saturday's festivities. I am going to take our stockings with us, so that we will have them on Christmas morning. The trip will be our Christmas present, which will actually save me a lot of shopping time.

I am already totally into planning. I get obsessive about planning. I started a walking program right after I made the reservations to start getting in shape. Hopefully I can stay motivated until December.

Intermediately crowded. There will be lines, but since you'll be on-site, your room key FOTL access will be of great use. Lines are usually around 30 mins max (+/-) for more popular rides around that time. From the 12/26-12/31 the lines usually reach upwards of 45-60 mins (+/-) for even the semi-popular ones.
