We're flying from Never Land to see Mickey! A June 2011 PTR Update 6/3 Leaving Today!

Hey guys!

So, Thing2 and I decided we wanted to plan a couple of surprises for our parents. At first we thought we wanted to do the Wishes or Illuminations cruise, but after a bit of research, we deemed that a bit out of budget. After a bit more research, we think we are going to rent a pontoon for an hour to an hour and a half on one of our days off. In addition, we might schedule a carriage ride or possibly order a specialty cake to be delivered to dinner one night. We'll have to see how much money we can save up and what fits into our schedule. If you have any tips, please let me know!

Didn't get to DIS at all yesterday! We had the "Science Olympiad" at a nearby school yesterday; got there at 7:30 and didn't get to leave until at least 6:30 that evening. A brief summary of the day:

My best friend from school (we'll call her Goofy 'cause she is! ) and her mom picked me up at 7 AM, a bit too early for my liking! We went to Starbucks to get some hot chocolate and then headed to another junior high in our district for the competition. As soon as we arrived and found our "homeroom" for the day, we went to check in our "Junkyard Challenge" box. We were then informed that we had to be back in 10 minutes for the actual building part of the competition. This was a little scary at first, as our teacher had informed us we weren't competing until 10:30 AND we had another event within 5-10 minutes of this one concluding. Butterflies in our stomachs, we went to build anyway. We had to build a cantilever that could support a golf ball at the end...not too hard, but we had some problems with our tape which threw us off a bit. Upon the conclusion of "Junkyard Challenge", we sprinted back to "The F-Pod" (the general area our homeroom was located) to grab our stuff for the next event and sprinted there. That event was "Compute This". I won't bore you with the details...it was a computer based event. Back to the F-Pod we went and then to the cafeteria to hang out with some team members and watch our friends compete in "Towers". Then it was time for "Fossils", the event we were least confident about and, thus had spent the most time trying to prepare for, as this is a grade for us in science. It was somewhat difficult, but we put something down for every question in hopes that some of the answers would actually be right. After "Fossils" Goofy, a bunch of our team mates and I were done competing for the day, and it was only 1 PM. This resulting in the group of us making up a bunch of games involving some tennis balls left over from previous events. Finally, it was time for awards. We went into the gym at 3:45-ish. Let's just say, awards didn't start until 5:25, so we were sitting there A LONG TIME!! I won't bore you with the details of the awards ceremony, but Goofy and I managed to pull 5th place (out of 16 teams) in Fossils! All in all, it was a day full of fun, but also very tiring! (Turns out that wasn't such a brief summary! )

Now, on to Disney related stuff! It seems Disney World is a popular destination with our friends and family members. We have been notified that Goofy's family (Mom, Dad and older brother) will be there the same time we are! That will be a fun time getting to see her there! Also, Thing3's best friend and her siblings (who I'm friends with) are going to be there too! And finally, my mom's brother (my uncle), my aunt and one of my cousins are going to be there! So here's a run down of whose going now. I tried to come up with nicknames for everyone, but they might be changed later:

Family #1: Us
Mom, Dad, Thing2, Thing3 and I (read the first post if you want more about us!)

Family #2: (they are driving down)
Goofy- 13 years old...does track with me, except she does discus and shot put while I do more sprinting...likes to read...all honors classes like me
Donald- 15 years old...Goofy's brother...all I really know is he plays travel soccer...in all honors classes as well
Goofy's Mom- Very nice lady...we carpool A LOT with them as Goofy and I are in almost the exact same activities
Goofy's Dad- Don't really see him too much, but I know he is very friendly and LOVES to golf

Family #3:
Cinderella- Age 6...Thing3's best friend...does ballet and they recently signed up for soccer together!
Tinkerbell- Age 13...Cinderella's older sister (who happens to be a triplet)...does dance with me...very loud and funny!
Lady- Age 13...sister to Tink and Cinderella...plays basketball a lot (at school and on a travel team)...very funny as well!
Peter Pan- Age 13...brother to Lady, Tink and Cinderella...plays basketball as well and I think he played football
Mom- Very friendly lady! Tends to be busy shuttling kids everywhere as does my mom!
Dad- Very friendly as well! Coaches basketball for Peter Pan and is one of the coaches for Thing3 and Cinderella's soccer team.

Family #4:
Doc- my uncle...a high school math teacher...we traveled with them to Hawaii this past summer and it was a lot of fun!
Happy- my aunt...LOVES taking pictures! She probably took a couple thousand on our Hawaii trip!
Dopey- (my cousin)Age 12...loves animals! Also enjoys swimming...I'm not sure if she likes fast rides yet or not...we'll have to see...

Yeah, we plan to meet up with my aunt, uncle and cousin the most since we don't see them much, but we plan to meet up with the rest of the gang as well!

Thanks! We worked really hard on Fossils! We do have a few days where we will meet up with people for meals, I'll post about that in just a bit.

It will be really fun to be there with so many of my friends/relatives! We should make a huge trip scrapbook together! Hopefully we will meet up with all of our friends there!

Sooo, I don't think the fates want us to go to Disney World...First we had that 2 day snowstorm blizzard thing. Totally unnessecary. Then the administrative staff at my school decides that we are going to move "Promotion Night" to June 2nd. If we were to leave things the way we have them planned, my mom and Thing3 would miss my "Promotion Night". Then my aunt got a PIN code for free quick service dining. Upon inquiring more, we found out that we could use the code too and upgrade for free dining...if we were staying at the same resort (they are staying at Coronado Springs). We CAN'T say there as we are a party of 5 and we aren't going to ask them to move resorts because my cousin is excited about the pool. As of now, we haven't changed things, but we'll see what the future holds.

Also, we made a couple of dining reservations with my aunt, uncle and cousin. Currently we have ADRs at Boma, Chef Mickey's, Liberty Tree Tavern and Biergarten with them.

Finally, I have just been notified that my mom's sister, her husband and my grandparents (mom's parents) might be joining us as well. As soon as I know more I will let you all know. Thanks for reading!

I am sure everything will work itself out in the end. What is Promotion Night?

I sure hope everything will work out. Promotion Night is sort of like graduation. It's the night we are recognized for moving from 8th grade to high school.

Well, it's been a long week of no DIS-ing and lots of doctors! For some reason, my mom thought that I'd like to go to pretty much every doctor imaginable all in one week. Tuesday I went to my regular doctor, just a check up and to get a physical for track. Wednesday I went to a physical therapist to get fitted for new orthopedic inserts for my shoes. I have really high arches in my feet, so I have to wear custom made inserts in my shoes to support my feet. So...I got fitted for a new pair and had the physical therapist check out my knee, as it had been hurting since the beginning of March. I don't mean to ramble about things like this, but my knees turn in A LOT naturally, so it was causing pain. She just gave me a list of exercises to do to improve my hip strength. I didn't really think that would help, but I went with it...Thursday, no biggie, just went to the eye doctor for a check up/order more contacts. Finally, yesterday, we were all scheduled at the dentist and then I had to see my real orthopedic doctor to check out my knee. But the dentist was running late, so I had to skip that appointment first, then come back to the dentist later....why do doctors always seem to run late?!? At the orthopedic doctor, I had to get my knees x-rayed. The doctor said that I have patella tracking disorder (PTD). From what I can understand, it means that my knees don't stay in one place, they swivel when my knees bend. So...that about sums up my week of doctors...

As for things related to Disney...everything looks like it will be about the same so far. It looks like Mom and Thing3 will have to miss my Promotion Night in order for us to get free dining. And it looks like my grandparents/another aunt and uncle will be able to join us, which will be fun!

And just for some more random stuff, we are on Spring Break!! I'm sooo excited to have a little over a week off to relax, DIS and sleep! Lately I've been rather addicted to watching Operation Repo, so I'll probably watch that a lot too. Well...sorry for the jumbled up update! Thanks for reading and I hope to hear from you all!

It's been pretty quiet around here for quite some time! Am I really that boring?

After talking it over with Disney, somehow my parents managed to get our dates to be June 3rd through the 15th, with free dining! I'm sooo excited because now everyone can be at my promotion night and we can still have a wonderful trip at Disney! Mom is looking at airfare, but we are going to leave after school gets out on June 3rd! I'm super excited!

So, without further ado, here are our plans for June 3rd:

That lovely bus will bring us to our home for the trip:

We probably won't arrive until after dinner because we aren't leaving until after school, so we will probably go straight to bed. Not a very exciting first day, but wait until you see what's to come!

I'll try to post plans for our other days later, but we'll have to see if that actually happens. I probably won't post tomorrow because I get my braces , but please don't be afraid to comment! Thanks for reading along!

Sounds like a lot of doctor visits. I've had my own history of knee problems... not a whole lot of fun.

Don't worry about the braces, I've been there and done that. It really isn't all that bad. Trust me when I say that it will be worth it in the long run.

Knee problems are most certainly no fun! I know I'll be happy with having gotten braces in the future, but it doesn't change that I'm upset about getting them now! I'll try and post more plans later!

That's my general idea of what we'll accomplish that day. Thing3's favorite park is EPCOT, so she'll be in heaven and the rest of us enjoy EPCOT a lot as well, so it should be a day filled with fun! Thanks for reading!

Just got home from the orthodontist a little while ago...pain hasn't set in yet, but I'm sure it will within a couple of hours. Looking forward to dinner at a soup buffet with friends to "celebrate" me getting braces!

You've been busy!!! I don't remember too much pain with the braces. It was the wires in the back that would always tear up my cheek. I used lots of wax. Yuck. Sophie is hoping so hard for braces! I always wanted them as a kid too. I didn't really mind them too much!

Your plans look great! I need to sit and make some concrete plans of what I want to accomplish each day. I've never seen the Figment attraction. We are both getting SO CLOSE!!!
