we're DRIVING? With 2 KIDS UNDER 2?! WDW or INSANITY here we COME (INSANITY)

Don't forget the disposable sippy cups!!! those were a godsend when we forgot them in the car and then found them the next day with fermenting milk in them GAGGGG!! we just tossed them right out!!! AND i loved the Sticky toss out place mats for my little guy that will still throw a plate across the room, that way we could just put it all on the place mat!! ::yes::

We also brought a cheap-o bottle brush with us that we could toss out upon leaving and it worked out GREAT for just cleaning bottles and sippies and the like!!!

----------------

Thanks for all the kind words  it's amazing how many people enjoy reading about our craziness!!!

GEORGIA

So we enter Georgia and i'm like WOOOOOHOOOO!!!!! We'll be in FLorida in NO TIME!!! it's totally NEXT! NEXT! NEXT!!! (i'm driving). Well about 1 hour into this drive and seeing the WIERDEST billboards, i'm getting discouraged!!!

Soooo i decide to rouse my husband from his too peaceful looking sleep by singing THE NAME GAME!!

Sal Sal bo Bal Banana Fanna Fo Fal Me My Mo Mal SAAAAALLLLL (how many of you SANG that as you read it!?!?)

He opens one eye and just GLARES! :lmao: so i start again:

Autumn Autumn bo BAutumn banana fanana fo fautumn me my mo mautumn AUTMNNNNNNNNNNN.....

Now he has pulled his seat into the upright position (as though we were in a plane or soemthing  )

And together we finish it up:

Gabriel Gabriel Bo Babriel banana fana fo fabriel me my mo mabriel GABRRRIIIEEELLLL...

and that was when we realized we did not name our son very well when it came to the name game :sad2:

I voiced my opinions on getting NO WHERE in Georgia and if there was any chance he wanted to FLY from here???? he kinda just stared and come to think of it, never answered....hmmm.. wonder what he was thinkin' ??

We got through the most discussed Atlanta around 5 AM or a little before?? i'm not exactly sure but it was EMPTY!!! we were sailing!!!! oh and then i was afraid to get into the car pool lane??? Never seen one of those before!!! DH said we could b/c there were 2+ people in the car, but i said we couldn't b/c we weren't going to work?? i don't know  i just stayed away to be safe!!! ::yes::

We decided to get clear of Atlanta before stopping for some breakfast :teeth:

So the drive continued with the car pool lane debate and THEN Dolly Partons 9-5 came on and we were JAMMING away!!!! that is until DD threw her sippy cup at us, b/c she couldn't hear DORA for like the 6th time

Boingy boingy boingy bing..we'll teach these rocks to sing????
(DORA song)

All of a sudden there is a BAMMMMMM!!!!

AUGHHHH!!!! i've got a flat!!
AUGHHHH!!!!!! we've hit a DEER!!
AUGHHHHH!!!!! The car is about to explode!!

All these things i am shouting, and DH is just shaking his head...

A STUPID pop can had hit the car :sad2: the car in front of us threw it out their window! HE saw it!! sooooo....

I SPED UP and like the dynamic duo we are we got his Plate # and called it in. I'm positive there is nothing they can do about it, but for those few minutes we felt sooooo cool!!! except for the brief nerve-wracking fear i felt for a few seconds!!!

Needless to say DH said at the next stop HE WAS DRIVING!!! :rotfl: :lmao:

Michelle!!!

I've missed ya!

And... I'm gonna start this today.

I might as well never leave my chair. With all the good trippies up on the boards.

Cheers, Mel.

Count me in for the singing :goodvibes

Yes, I'll admit to singing, too.

LOVE the HOV lanes (car pool) in ATL! Yes, anyone with 2 or more passengers can use it, any time of day. AND, munchkins in car seats of all ages do indeed count as passengers :thumbsup2 I use it whenever I travel to ATL with my DS4.

ooo thanks for the passenger lane info!!! GREAT DH was right AGAIN!! what is happening this year?????? my world is being turned upside down!!!
------------------

Thanks everyone for visiting my little corner of the DIS!!! :goodvibes: and i must say i feel sooo cool since MElly Mel has visited me!!! ::yes:: :worship: she is the QUEEN of entertaining Trippies!!! ::yes::

-----------------------

I have to wait until i get my notebook out of the Honda, but i have a Mcdonald's that you must avoid at all costs :scared1:

WE made our stop at this McD's and let me tell you i am the daughter of a McD's Corp. Lady!! ::yes:: sooo i grew up being embaressed at Mcd's!! my mom would find something wrong and flash her badge (that the ALWAYS had with her). and then GO BEHIND THE COUNTER and fix things!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???? sooo since i am not a corp. lady, i dooo however CONSTANTLY call the 1800 number with complaints!! and at this place i called while IN LINE!!

(the location is to be Edited in later as i can't remember! it's something like Unadilla or Undila something like that!!)

anyways we exit and there is a little construction on that exit (but don't let it stop you from getting off, it only sets you back about 5minutes).

We pull into the lot and get out alright (no good songs on the radio :sad2: :music: ) so we get inside and my McD's eye automatically catches the DIRTIEST mcdonalds EVER EVER EVER!!! well we don't want to take the kids in and out of their car seats again, so we suck it up. but first we go back to the car and change dipaers in the fornt seats of the Hondas, b/c we are TERRIFIED of what the potties will look like! We also wash our hands with bottled water and soap flakes ( .99 on the TARGET travel lane!!).

I start dialing, DHs eyes start rolling and we get back in line. He does the ordering, i complain about:
dirty floors
garbage cans FULL of garbage and trays full of garbage at most of the tables!!

I MUST admit though that the staff was one of THE FRIENDLIEST and most courteous at all the restaurants go figure!!

Our plan of action was let the kids play in the play places to get their energy out while we eat and they eat in the car. it worked GREAT. We get to the play place and as i set the kids down, i smell something and DH says ewww... it was FILTHY and sticky and then here is the kicker.....

THERE ARE 2 HOMELESS GUYS SLEEPING IN THE PLAY PLACE!!!

IN it!! INSIDE of the Slide and the tubes!?!?!?! OMG!

So we take them back inside the restaurant i complain some more (i decline all free food and such) and we clean up our own table (clorox and baby wipes do the trick) AND the high chairs and as they continue to eat, i go on a SPREE of cleaning the other tables WHILE putting the garbage in a WAL*MART bag that i have with me for dirty diapers and car garbage!! After about 3 tables they FINALLY get someone out there to take out the trash and start cleaning!!!

We NEVER except free stuff from them, simply b/c my mom works there, but we do help whenever possible...soooo i've become the embaressing Mcd's Commando that my mom was and still is

The rest of the drive through Georgia into Valdosta was pretty uneventful except for more singing and trivia games and all that jazz!!!

Great trip report, Michelle! I wish I would have met you while we were down there! :guilty:

I LOVE the name game and yes! of course I sang along while reading it! I try to sing in the car but it makes everyone else sick and they tell me to stop! :lmao: :confused3 :rotfl:

Michelle,
Have the kids had any meltdowns yet? What did you do while driving to keep them happy?

I know you are probably sick of me, but I am definitely so loving this. You and your dh sound like so much fun!!! :rotfl:

Soap flakes..got it!!

 This is what I looked like, when I thought about having a pixie dust fight with my DH before we leave for Disney.

but, then I spit soda all over my keyboard when you said it was a sign from God that Sexy Back came on the radio. Now THAT was funny! :thumbsup2

LOVING your trip report! More please - I've gotta know about the nasty notes!

For now, popcorn::

Ahhh...you are such the DISNEY :earsgirl: girl, through and through...and yes I also love  the PIXIE DUST pixiedust: idea prior to leaving the house. MY DH would get the biggest kick out of that for sure!!! :goodvibes

Just noticed this trippie now and have read all the pages. Love the wedding pic :lovestruc of you :bride: and DH :groom: on the first page...it is hard to tell how absolutely adorable you two are from the photo in your siggy!!! Your DH sounds like such an awesome DH!!! And you could do "stand-up" if you had to and fill a comedy club!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Anxiously awaiting more and will there be pictures, Michelle??

I think I would have called the coporation again when the homeless guys were found. That would have been scary and discusting. Keep up the good report---can't wait to read about the mean note leavers.

OH yes, corp. was called when i found the homeless dudes AND mommy was called too!!

YES there will be pictures, once i can get them downloaded into my dinosaur of a computer!!!! so have no fear they are NEAR!!!

:woohoo:

No meltdowns!!

HONESTLY!!! the only melt down was a mommy one!! hahaha!!! After being in Gergia FOREVER and 5 days, i really thought i was NEVER getting out, so i demanded to get out and find an airport, cause my legs were falling asleep, my head was hurting and it had been a FULL 20 minutes since i could find Sexy Back on the radio!!! :music:

Our secret was this:
We didn't go on ANY schedule and the only hope we had, was making it to WDW!! sounds silly but it's sooo true!! EVERY SINGLE time one child would start to so much as whine or cry, we would get off at the nearest rest stop. WE LOVED rest areas and found them ALL to be clean and well cared for. WE let them run and do whatever they wanted until THEY came up to us and were ready to go. To tell you the truth we were not at ANY stop longer than 1hr! they usually lasted 30minutes.

IN the car we also had:
The DVD player with a screen in EACH headrest so the kids could each watch TV.
LOTS of WDW sing alongs AND DORA ::yes::

EACH kid had a small backpack (preschooler size) full of toys that we collected throughout the year and they were ALL brand new in the car!!! :teeth: even the backpack was new!! THEY LOVED THAT!!

Michelle,
Have the kids had any meltdowns yet? What did you do while driving to keep them happy?

I know you are probably sick of me, but I am definitely so loving this. You and your dh sound like so much fun!!!

Soap flakes..got it!!

:wave2: My Ds at 9 months old is still on the bottle ( i think this is normal but who knows! we weaned DD at 12 months, so that's what we will do!!)

anyways!! for the trip, THIS was our lifesaver!!!

It can be found at Babies R US!!

HERE IS THE INFO

It's 9.99

:rotfl: lovin' the trip report!

You are cracking me with the description of the falling bolders and runaway trucks. I cringe going through that stretch of highway each year.

And Atlanta at night without the gridlock traffic is such a beautiful site.

Please update the McD's gross exit. We are also a McD's only stops on our trips and I want to be 100% sure we continue to miss that one! And isn't it great to let the kiddos burn off energy in the play place while you eat and then feed them in car!

FLORIDA AT LAST!!!

Sooo we finally start seeing signs for Florida!!! :woohoo: and before we know it, we are THERE!!! YEEEEEHHAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :cheer2: The entire way we do not see ONE other IL plate or ANYONE travelling with families!! it was a bit eerie! then out of NOWHERE comes a car with WI. plates! it's 2 college guys!!! SO DH honks the horn and gives them the thumbs up!! (i have noooo idea why!?) But they pulled away quickly once we saw the WELCOME TO FLORIDA sign and started CHEERING!!!! and honking the horn!! and dancing!! and singing along to my SPICE GIRLS CD (once again PLEASE do not make fun of me, but i think the SPice Girls are THE GREATEST group ever!!!). I turned it up and the cheers erupted!!!

BUT please keep in mind that the last time I saw a gas station in Georgia we had a little more than half a tank of gas and i said hey it's 1.95 we should TOTALLY just fill it up here!! ::yes:: but DH said he was fine and he would make it all the way to WDW on what he had left!! (remember this all!!).

ME:

Alright then, at least we are in Florida, let's stop and change Diapers.

DH:

good idea and while we are there we can top off the tank

Me:
AUGHHH!!!! i totally said that!?!?!

DH:

huh?

:moped: we drive and pull off at the first exit in FLorida :moped:

DH:

OMG the gas is 2.50 over here!!!

Me:
 :lmao:
I TOLD YOU TO STOP BEFORE!

DH:
Why didn't you tell me to stop?? Oh well it will get cheaper in Orlando and i can make it all the way anyways! (remember that!!)

ME:
(still laughing)
Just pull over and lets get them changed.

So we stop in a parking lot at a gas station and then i get out to get DS first and we will change them in the car.

AUGHHHHHHH AUGHHHHHH AUGHHH!!!! there is a BEE on me!! AUGHH!! BEE BEE BEE BEE!!!!

oops.. it's actually a love bug!!

ewww there was a mating bug on me!! THERE WERE LIKE hundreds of them attacking us and getting into the car! i couldn't believe it!!

So other than the love bugs discovery and DHs gas woes (gas for the gar not any other kind of gas) we are on our way!!!

WDW OR BUST!!!

POP CENTURY HERE WE COME!!!

Kind of....

almost.....

sputter...shake.....shake....sputter.......ummm are we running out of gas?????
