WE'RE BACK! TR LINK! TThe Evil Spell Has Been Broken! A Special Mother/Daughter PTR

Whoops! I missed a few days because my kids weren’t at home this weekend, so I was doing my lazy thing :happytv: I love your journals, Karen! They are very cute! I’m glad to hear that you two are doing Tusker House for lunch. That should be fun! Wait, what? You’re going to Disney in 2014? That is wonderful! I’m sorry to hear about putting off Germany, but I am happy that your boys and your hubbby are converted Disney addicts now :lmao: Your story about the water fountain was really touching. Your story about Thumper was really sweet and that is one of my favorite pictures that you have posted because you can see the pure happiness on Savannah’s face. I had no idea that she and Coy were so similar, but it is good to see that kids can and do grow out of these issues :goodvibes Disney is definitely a safe place for kids to explore and learn. Oh, and as someone else said, there is crack in the water, for sure! :rotfl:

One day! I can hardly believe it! I hope you have a magical, fun, safe, happy trip! pixiedust:

I didn't really realize that Coy and Savannah were so similar either! It's funny, I forget how it was when she was younger b/c she has grown out of it, but she really was totally mute in public. Recently she had an ear infection and we had to go to a Dr. and she freaked a bit. She was crying and I explained to the Dr. and the doctor said that "something" had to have happened to make her like this?!?!? WHAT?

It's a phobia/issue that people have all the time. Believe me, she didn't leave my side when she was young, she wouldn't let me out of her sight...nothing happened to her, she just really does not like strangers or people she is not used to.

It really made her mad too, just proved to her that she doesn't like Doctors. She got in the car and said "Why does something have to have happened to me to be uncomfortable with strangers touching me and looking in my mouth?" :confused3

But, this is kind of just the leftovers of it now and she did TALK to the doctor when she asked her questions, which is something she would have never done when she was younger. The doctor was saying things like "You know this is an irrational fear." to which I responded that Savannah KNOWS that, but just because you know something doesn't mean you aren't afraid. What bothers me is that people would totally respect or not push an adult that felt this way, but if it's a kid, they REALLY PUSH to get them to do what they want them to do. This just makes the issues worse, imo.

OMG, ramble! I think I'm just overly excited...today is the day!!!!!! :hyper:

That picture is absolutely precious!! :goodvibes

I just wanted to stop by and wish you and your girl the most wonderful, magical trip. Just remember to 'stop and smell the roses' and enjoy each other. ;) I know it will be wonderful- can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!

 Carla

Thanks Carla! I'm so excited this morning, Savannah & I were talking about how it just doesn't feel real. I'm waiting for it to hit me! I'm sure I'll get on the ME and start crying or something! :lovestruc

I can't believe it's practically here...YOUR TRIP IS HERE! You leave tomorrow! :cool1:

The story about Savannah is priceless. It truly represents everything that is so wonderful and magical about WDW!!! For those who don't know, haven't been or have never read stories like yours....they truly have NO IDEA what a spectacular place it is to visit. When I am at WDW I don't have any worries! :goodvibes

Wishing you safe travels and a fun and memory-filled mother/daughter trip. I'm looking forward to reading about your trip when you return!

Thank you! :goodvibes

Yes, when I type out these stories, I realize there are so many reasons I love it and it's so hard to put words to it b/c it's so close to PURE EMOTION for me. I had someone ask why I liked it so much a few weeks ago. They wanted me to tell them the ONE thing that I liked the most about it. That was nearly impossible to choose!

Ok, more ramblies! I'm going to Disney World TODAY!!!!!!! I cannot believe it!!

:dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo: :dance3: :woohoo:

HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!!:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Save some nice weather for me....I will be down next Friday!

You're off!!!! Wooo!!!
Safe travels & wonderful trip!

And for shame on that doctor!! Horrible. Why are people so quick to judge & put things 'in a box'? Poor Savannah!

Now we have to sit and anxiously await your return!

Ummmmm......not so patiently waiting for an update, a Facebook pic, SOMETHING!!!! :lmao:

OK, FINE.....I understand your flight doesn't leave until 4:15pm but a nice airport pic would be appreciated!!! Again, I hope you two have a most wonderful time!

Done Ann! Got her to let me take a pic, it's on FB now! Send pixie dust, she is totally freaking on going in the plane! Terrified her ears will hurt.

Hope you and your daughter have a wonderful trip!! Looking forward to hearing all about it! :) PS- my daughter (She is 4) is soo shy. She does not care to talk to anyone really, just her immediate family & grandparents. She will stare at people and although she comes off as very unfriendly, I honestly think it is just her being super shy. I do not push her either, that is her personality and I'm fine with it!

Hoping that you have landed safely in Orlando and that Savannah didn't have trouble with her ears. Looking forward to an update! ENJOY!!! :cool1:

On ME finally!!! We are so hungry and ready to get to POP after a long day! Sigh...we are here!!!! :lovestruc

Just found your report! I am loving it!

The journals you made are awesome! I wish I had that talent :) I am glad you both made it safely and can't wait to read your report when you get back.

:dance3: We're going to Disney World TOMORROW!!!!!!!! :dance3:

Nope, still not real! I'll be posting from the airport that it doesn't feel real too.

I have some petsits to do today still, I'm totally packed! Savannah has a couple things that are still getting washed and packed up, but other than toothbrushes and phone chargers, I think we're ready! :woohoo:

So, I have 1 more picture to share! This picture means a lot to me because it symbolizes what Disney DOES.

Savannah was a VERY shy child. I actually explain to most people that she was selectively MUTE when she was younger. She would not speak to or in front of anyone outside of our family most of the time. It would take her a very long time to warm up to people, even when she had met them before, but this lasted for quite a few years. She also could not stay with anyone other than my mom, and even that was rare. When we went to WDW the first trip, she was just a few weeks shy of 8 and was still not normally able to speak with people in stores, even her friend's parents.

That first trip was so magical because I watched her world open up. WDW had a magic that took all that away for her. I saw her responding to CM's, hugging characters, and talking to strangers on the bus! This was unheard of! This was a girl that couldn't even shake her head yes or no when a waitress asked if she wanted soda.

On our 2nd trip, I captured this in a photo. Her interaction with Thumper was priceless, he DANCED with her, something she would never ever ever even fathom in the real world doing with a "stranger" and she lit up and came alive! This picture just represents how WDW was a safe place for my shy girl to be herself and not have to be afraid.

She has grown out of many of those issues now, I knew she would, but let her do it on HER time, not mine. I was shocked the other day when she took a 20$ bill into the gas station BY HERSELF and got change for me. 2 years ago even she wouldn't have been able to do this. She still has some phobia over "strangers" and cries if we have to go to a Dr. or dentist, but I know that will pass in time as well. WDW is just one of those special places where all of that melts away and she is FREE from her fear.

and we're going there TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :lovestruc

I may post here or there from the airport or whatever, but when I'm on my phone I cannot do colored font or smileys, so they will be short and sweet posts if any! I'll be all over FB though for those of you that are friends with me there!!

That is so funny! I thought you were describing my kids. They are the exact same way. They are still very shy but this trip my daughter went in my lap on a very packed bus so an elderly woman could sit down and they talked the whole way back to the resort! Magical!!

Hope you are enjoying your vacation!! Beautiful weather :)

I have already gone over and subbed. I have been waiting patiently since yesterday for your "We're back" post. (I even went back to your updates in the PTR to see if you had an early or late return flight. :rolleyes1) I'm excited for a Disney fix! :cool1:

SUCH DEVOTION!!! :lmao: I got back pretty early, but I was WHOOPED all day long. I had to petsit a few times and Rey drove me b/c I kept nodding off! Savannah & I didn't get back to the room and packed up until around midnight on Friday and then we woke up at 4AM to catch ME!!!!!! It was hard, even for this early riser!
