Good evening everyone!! We have returned and I am devastated!!
We all had such a wonderful time (I will do a full TR later this week) and Nan thoroughly loved every moment of it!
In true DIS Board tradition....
Highs:-
- Seeing Nan's face light up constantly as she noticed different bits around the resort.
- All of the Cast Members. I can hand-on-heart say I didn't come across one single miserable or rude Cast Member. In fact, EVERYONE we came across (at the very least) acknowledged us and would laugh and have fun with us. One even called my Nan his new girlfriend!
- Café Mickey! We had reservations for 7:30pm but were hungry at 6:20
I thought I'd try our luck and ask if they could squeeze us in which they did without a single hesitation. We had a FABULOUS table upstairs next to the window overlooking the Lake and the character interaction was AMAZING!! Mickey was the best I've ever met! He made a huge fuss over us... kissed Nan... played with me... I tried to take a photo of him later during our meal as he was passing and he stopped and made a fantastic pose (you'll see when I add the pix)... then he noticed my Mum was having a bit of a hot-flush and rushed over to fan her down with the menu until she cooled down... He was simply brilliant!
- The Tarzan show!
Oh I fell in love!!
The show itself was fantastic and the dancing was incredible!! We all adored the show... and I adored Tarzan! Win-win!!
- Being upgraded to Castle Club in the Disneyland Hotel definately has to go on our list of 'Highs'!
This was such a lovely treat for Nan who was in complete awe of the hotel! The use of the elevator to the park was actually invaluable to us with Mum's current condition.
- Finally getting to go up in the Panorama Balloon over Lake Disney! That was so beautiful at night with the resort all lit up.
Lows:-
- Auberge de Cendrillon wasn't up to its usual standards. There was no Princess ballroom dance... the food quality seemed to slip a little... the atmosphere just wasn't there this time around! Our waitor from March wasn't working until the evening (he actually came into the park early to try find us
) so maybe that was the reason it felt strange? The actual Prince and Princesses (and Suzy and Perla) were all fantastic though... couldn't fault them at all and Nan loved talking to them and seeing the sparkling dresses. She was in Princess Heaven
- Mum's health. (Not a Disney problem). On top of her treatment, she now has a bad case of Sciatica and was literally unable to walk... but due to where the nerve is in her thigh, she was also unable to sit without being in agony... so both walking/sitting/sleeping is agonising for her at the moment and unfortunately it meant the enjoyment of the resort was harder for her this time around. She still insisted on seeing/doing everything - we just had to go at an extremely slower pace and miss a few bits here and there.
- Coming home.
There will be a full trip report coming very soon... but as you can see, we had a wonderful time and I am so grateful for the precious memories the three generations of us shared.
