We're back from surprising our kids– a grateful family -with pics and video.

Sounds like you had a very fun dinner at 50's PTC!!! DS looks like he really enjoyed getting the green beans with whipped cream! :lmao:

DS6 missed Fantasmic in March because he was sick! He's very excited to see it in January!! Me too!!

Oh gosh I LOVE the green beans and whipped cream. How funny!
And so sorry to hear about your mom

Thank you.

The green beans were great. He liked the Smores better though.

Sounds as if you had a really great time at the 50's Diner.Loved your sons dessert..how funny:lmao:
I am doing something similar I have ADR at Whispering Canyon and haven't told DH about the ketchup deal .....and of course he uses ketchup on everything. Didn't tell him about the LARGE drink either.

Sorry DS13 didn't feel well enough to do Fantasmic.

Make sure you ask for an interactive server when you check in. I don't know if it makes a difference or not - but, it's worth a try. Our original plan had WCC as one of our restaurants but it got changed to BOMA.

I hope he likes it. DS8 almost changed his mind about staying as it was getting ready to start but l talked him out of it at that point.

AK Day – October 18

This was going to be a good day. :thumbsup2 We were going to get to sleep in, do AK which is a park we really liked our last trip and were looking forward to seeing more, and we would see my aunt and uncle and cousins for dinner.

No alarm this morning. What time do we wake up? 7:15! Not what I was looking forward to but it’s OK. We took our time in the room and knew we weren’t going to make RD. Ate breakfast in the room – Cheerios. Off to the bus. I think this was one of the longest waits we had but it wasn’t too long. It didn’t take long before we were pulling up at the front of AK.

We weren’t even inside when we ran into our first bunch of characters. It was great and they didn’t have long lines either. DS8 was able to get an autograph from Flik.

And then handed his book to Rafiki who showed off to the CM.

We went inside the gate and as we were walking towards the Tree of Life, I went over the plan with the “boys.” I was going to KS to get FPs while they go to Dinosaur. “I’ll meet up with you over there when you get off.” Is that easy enough to understand??? Nope.

The entrance to the park was crowded.

20081018017-1.jpg

I went over the map with DS13. I went to the left towards Africa and they went to the right. Got our FPs and as I was walking back DH called on the cell. “where are you?” I asked if they were done Dinosaur already and he responded with “we’re waiting for you.” “no, I wasn’t planning on riding that. I don’t think I’ll like it.” Go ahead and I’ll meet you there when you get off. I arrived at Dinosaur and waited and waited and waited. My phone rings …. “where are you?” He responds “ I have no idea. There is a sign that says dinorama or something like that.” I started walking towards that area and run into Goofy and Pluto who were getting ready to do autographs. I spotted DH and talked to him how to get to where I was.

DS8 stepped up to get his pic taken. When they asked for the autograph book, we explained that both of them had already signed his autograph book the other day at Epcot. Pluto wanted to know what happened to DS8’s finger. I told him that he hurt it playing football 2 days before we left and then our dog broke it that night. “Pluto, you would never do that, would you?” Pluto started shaking his head no and then Goofy made a halo on top of Pluto’s head.

I asked the boys if they wanted to see Tough to be a Bug but they didn’t care so we went into Asia. We never saw that side of the park on our last trip.

Up next....Maharajah jungle trek

We figured we’d do Maharajah Jungle Trek – I had no idea what this was going to be and was glad we walked through it. The trail was really pretty. Here's some pics of the trail.

A face that only a mother could love

Holy cow Batman!

Tigers are such beautiful animals.

Next up – lunch and afternoon activities.

I love the jungle trek! It definitely is beautiful!! There's always such beautiful bird! Not you average run of the mill seagull and crow we have around here!

I love that picture with the glasses. How cool, and how special that you had that moment to have a little bit of your mom there with you.

BTW your boys are very handsome!

To answer your previous question, I am not far from Hagerstown, but I went to school in Frostburg, and so did DD1, so I've spent quite a bit of time in the mountains. It's gorgeous up there, you should make an outing of it sometime. Don't ya love that Maryland's got it all - mountains, ocean beaches, the bay, DC and Baltimore? The only thing we don't have is WDW! I read recently in a biography of Disney that one of the areas they considered for WDW was halfway between Baltimore and D.C. I think they made the right decision, but how sweet would that have been?

We did see several pretty birds. Unfortunately, the pics didn't come out well enough. I was quite impressed with the trail - I didn't even know it existed on our last trip.

Frostburg isn't too far from here. Have you gotten a lot of snow yet? Luckily, all we've had was a dusting on Friday morning. YUK! I remember hearing about the Baltimore/Washington corridor, probably somewhere near Columbia. It would not have worked - it gets way too cold here in winter time for such activities. I guess to be close to WDW, I need to move to Florida. DH says "no way." :sad2:

Thanks for the comments about my boys. I'm very partial.

It was like a world in itself. You forgot about the rest of the park being there.

:wave2: Hey Sherri!! Just trotting over to check in and see how you are!! I hope your sinuses and back are feeling better!!!! No more racking leaves in the cold silly women!!! Inside posting TR's and doing other fun things in the warmth of your house is were you belong!!!

Time for lunch! One of the places that DS13 has always looked forward to eating at again has been Flame Tree so this is where we would eat lunch.

20081018066-1.jpg

When we ate there 2 yrs ago we couldn’t get over the amount of ducks that walked around trying to get fed. We kept asking the duck if he was the same one from 2 yrs ago but he wouldn’t tell us the truth. Guess it’s a good thing that duck isn’t on the menu?

20081018067.jpg

Lunch was good. DS13 and I had ribs, DH had the pulled beef sandwich and DS8 had a hot dog.

We cleaned up and started walking over to Camp Minnie Mickey for Festival of the Lion King – one of my favorites!

On the way….

20081018072.jpg

We were able to get right in and get some seats. I just love this show – I know I already said that, but, I really do. I have seen the whole show twice on stage – once on Broadway and once in Baltimore. It is awesome! The colors are phenomenal.

It was nice getting to see the end of the show this time. Last trip, the electricity went off before the finale. After the show, we were able to get out very quickly and able to get in line for more autographs without waiting very long. DS was able to get autographs for Safari Mickey,

Koda and Kenai

20081018115.jpg

Chip and Dale – I can never remember who is who.

20081018121-1.jpg

And then, Terk, Baloo and King Louie. DS8 felt like he was hitting the autograph jackpot. This is when the new camera battery died and I had to go back to the old camera. I was so upset cause I was really looking forward to the new camera for the safari. Oh well – another reason to go back, right?

We decided we had some time so we would go to Rafiki’s Planet Watch. Had no idea what was over there and we found out that the train could take DH with the ECV.

When we walk in there is another one of those people wearing khaki pants and a blue shirt – what will happen???

We just saw the Lion King on broadway in April, what an AMAZING show. And I thought TFOTL show was awesome.. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to say what a nice trip report! The surprise was too cute. What a great memory for your family. I am sure your boys will remember that forever.
