We're back! 6 days of rain and extended family 8/17-8/23! updated 9/29, day three!!

Great start to your report. Those Earl of Sandwich pictures look yummy! Looking forward to more - even though I know it will full of rain.

Ok...so far so good...only a few setbacks. The crying thing on the plane stresses me out personally. I know people in a small confined area do NOT want to hear my kids cry! So I really get myself worked up by it. I can't imagine being stuck on the tarmack! :scared: Glad you made it there fine and Ty slept...bless his heart! Can't wait to hear more!!

I know...I was so anxious about being that person with the "bad baby" on the plane. Luckily it was only when we were waiting for take-off and there was another baby being louder then Ty!! When we got off the plane my dad commented on how Ty screamed the whole flight..I laughed and told him that wasn't him!
In December we are flying non-stop on the way down. I hope this goes well....I tend to think it will although the flight is at 4 and his bedtime isn't until 8ish. So he will definitely be awake the whole flight! :scared1:
leave it to atlanta to not have a changing table in their restrooms! i swear, that city is so backwards to have one of the biggest airports in america.

what is with the DVC not adding the DDP for you?????? that's just annoying!

you look awesome! i haven't seen a pic of you since you've had ty. and he's such a cutie!!!

can't wait for more! :thumbsup2
I'm just glad nothing got screwed up for your reservation. I have a feeling when they took my sister off the ressie they took the DDP off by mistake. :confused3

Thanks for the compliment! I had about 10 pds to lose last time I checked..plan to check again tomorrow :)

Yeppers...it will be full of rain but if nothing else you'll learn all about traveling with a 5 month old.

I'm moving this to a new thread on the actual TR boards..hope you will follow me over! :goodvibes

I'm back! A quick synopsis...the rain was horrible!!! It rained half of Monday, all day Tues-Thurs, half of Friday and was nice for our last half day. My feet were wet the whole trip...I hate to say it but it really put a damper on things. Crushed our spirits?? I know Disney is great no matter the weather but this was just never-ending! Ty was great though....no napping in the stroller unfortunately so I spent about 2-3 hours a day in the Baby Care Centers. No complaints except that I missed Everest (pouring when I came out of center...didn't have the energy to go on it) and I also missed Spaceship Earth and Soaring. I have to admit that it was tougher then I thought it would be..I had really counted on him napping in the stroller. But he was a trooper..especially for missing 25% of his normal nap time every day. Having family in tow was also tough. Problems with my dad's stomach (IBS) led me to scramble around and find new ADRs.

All in all it was fun but tiring and at times the rain tried my patience to the extreme. The rain really invaded our happy place! Anyway..I will try to get day 1 up ASAP.

Day one! :wizard:

So my alarm went off at 3:15am! :scared1: I had tried to go to bed around 9 the night before but I think it was more like 10. Either way I jumped out of bed..it's easy to get up when you are going to Disney!!!

I showered and then got DH up. We had to be to my dad's around 4:15 and he is about 2 miles away. While DH was showering I woke up Ty, gave him a bottle and got him dressed. He was actually wide awake and in a good mood. That was fine with me b/c I wanted him to sleep on the plane.

My dad, Christine and Stefan were ready to go but unfortunately I had to sit in cargo area of my Escape with all the luggage since there wasn't enough seats and I am the smallest. It was only a 10 minute ride to the airport so I didn't mind but it definitely wasn't comfortable!!

Our flight was on time..6:19am. Ty was great for the first leg to Atlanta. I gave him a bottle on take-off and landing so his ears would pop..otherwise he slept the whole way. We had a 45m. layover in Atlanta. I went into the bathrooms to change his diaper and NO CHANGING TABLE!! What?? :headache: I was so mad..I ended up changing him on the floor near our gate. I even checked out the family restroom. Nada. I couldn't believe it.

The next leg of our flight was delayed once we were already on! Ty was starting to get fussy. I wanted to save his bottle for take-off but he was really upset so I had no choice. Luckily I was left with enough for take off and the stewardess re-filled it for me for landing. He slept for that leg too! :thumbsup2

We arrived in Orlando about 30 minutes late. We headed down to ME where there was a HUGE line....it was all the way onto the walkway. It moved fast and we were the only ones in line for SSR! We were sharing the bus with Old Key West so we were the 2nd stop. We arrived around noon.

Check-in was pretty slow...we got a guy that was "earning his ears." I felt bad for him but he was soooo slow. I had my confirmation with me from DVC but somehow the DDP was removed from my reservation. Luckily it was on the confirmation so they were able to put it back on. It just took about 15 minutes. (Sound familiar Dawn??;) ) My dad's room ended up being right above ours on the 3rd floor and it was already ready. Ours was not. Grr. :headache: I figured mousekeeping worked their way down and figured we would be ready anytime. I know check-in isn't until 4pm but I had hoped for some pixie dust! My dad and co. went to their rooms and then met us down my the boat service to take it to D.Disney for lunch.

We were headed to Earl of Sandwich and luckily it was located pretty close to the boat dock. At this point it was still really nice out...I still had hopes Hurricane Faye would "disappear!" When we got there the line was pretty long so it gave me a chance to explain the DDP to my dad. I was a little disappointed with EofS because you don't get a side item like chips or fries. Just the sandwich, drink and dessert. We were all starving so it tasted great anyway. The bread was just a little too crispy/toasted for me but the sandwich itself was delicious!

This is the only food porn of the trip...I just forgot as time went on. I'm sorry. Mine is the turkey club, minus the bacon, and DH had the original sandwich...roast beef I think!

Here's a pic of Ty and I while we were waiting for our food.

I remember he was getting pretty sleepy by the time lunch was over so instead of shopping we decided to head back to SSR. It was almost 2pm now so I figured our room would be ready. On the way back via the boats I snapped this pic of the new TRex Cafe. We can't wait to go there in Dec although I heard they are only taking walk-ups until Jan. :confused3

Hey Tara!

I'm sorry you guys had so much rain from Fay :scared1:

But I hope you guys still had a wonderful time for Ty's first trip to WDW!!!

Can't wait to read more :flower3:

DAY ONE, PART 2!

So we headed back to SSR via the boats again...there was a long line, directly in the sun, but two boats came right behind each other so we didn't have to wait long. After calling SSR from the boat, we found out our room was NOT ready yet. :headache: Like I mentioned before...I knew we have until 4pm but Ty was super tired and I just wanted him to be able to lie down.

We decided to go swimming..we got our carry-on luggage out of bell services and had one of the CM's take us to my dad's room. We changed into suits while they got ready to nap!!!! The pool was SUPER warm and Ty had a lot of fun. I started swimming lessons with him at 4 months and he really seems to like the water. Perhaps he will be another Michael Phelps? ;)

I kept calling SSR and by 3:30 I was very upset at the room still not being ready. I explained to the CM that I had a 5 month old baby that needed to rest and was there any other rooms ready? She said there was but in the Grandstand...all the way across the resort from my dad. So we waited it out. And waited. I think it was almost 4:30pm when we got our room number. I was stressed b/c we had been up since 3am. Ty was great though...he was a bit fussy but hung in there. By the time we got to the room though he started to melt down and it took me quite awhile to get him to sleep. We had reservations at Cape May at 7:30 so I wanted him to sleep.

I never got a rest, and neither did DH, but Ty managed to sleep about an hour. We met Christine downstairs. No dad. No Stefan. Apparently Stefan wanted to sleep and my dad's IBS had acted up. Chris had warned him not to get the roast beef sandwich at lunch but being a typical know-it-all guy, he didn't listen. So it was just the 3 of us for dinner. I was a little ticked b/c I had made this ADR specifically for my dad. We like CMC but there are other places we would have choosen instead.

We ended up walking to Downtown Disney and then took a bus to the Beach Club. It took about an hour total. We were about 15m. late for our ADR which worried me b/c Ty was already a bit tired again. We waited in the lobby for a super long time...I don't think we sat down until 8:15!!

Here we are in the super big chairs!

The food was good but Ty was impatient. I didn't blame him..it was already an hour past his bedtime! I kinda felt rushed to eat and get back knowing we had a long trek to SSR.

We left around 9:30 (very slow to get our bill) and thought we could walk to Epcot and take a bus home. Wrong-o. As a Disney vet I should have known the walkway takes you to World Showcase; not Future World. So when we got there it was of course closed. It was an awesome stroll though..I had never been behind the Beach Club. They had chairs set up on the beach with a Disney movie on a screen for kids. Ty was quiet though with all the stuff to look at! :thumbsup2

So back we headed to the Beach Club where we caught a bus to DD and then walked back again. We were sooooo tired. On the way home I realized that now my dad and Stefan were going to have an extra TS credit due to missing CMC. We had planned RFC for one of the days, and pay OOP, but I would rather have them use of their credits. I figured I would call Disney Dining in the morning and try to add a dining plan meal instead of RFC. That kinda made me crabby though b/c I was looking forward to RFC but I had to accept changes when traveling with other people.

Up next...day 2 at Magic Kingdom! When would fay hit? :confused3

what section of SSR were you guys in? our walk to DTD wasn't bad at all but we were in the section of congress park closest to the marketplace.

did you hear that michael phelps was at magic kingdom today and they had a parade for him? i keep saying if only he had waited ONE WEEK!!!!

The walk to DD was cake..only about 5 minutes. We were in almost the same section as last year...to the left of the quiet pool. It was waiting for the buses at DD and then riding on them that killed us!!

I saw that about Phelps...it would have been cool to see him!! :goodvibes

I love the Halloween decorations up already..I can't believe it's almost been a year since we went!! :wizard:

Hi Tara! Great start so far! Sorry about your looooong day and not getting your room assignment sooner. That's pretty typical unfortunately. It's rare to get into a villa before 4pm. Yes, I guess you learned the hard way about Disney transportation... No getting back through International Gateway after 9pm. All roads lead to DD after the parks close... ya know, I wonder what's going to happen with that after PI is closed? You could always count on getting a bus back to your resort from DD/PI since the buses ran until 2am. :confused3 Anyway, can't wait to read more... I'm sure the story gets soggy very soon...
