Here's where we ate - I'd be happy to answer any questions. All our dining experiences were good, IMO - some better than others, but no bad reviews.

Chef Mickey's
Casey's
The Plaza (our first time)
Whispering Canyon Cafe (our first time)
ABC Commissary
50's Prime Time Cafe
Olivia's (our first time)
Pizzafari (our first time)
Cinderella's Royal Table (first time for dinner - have previously done breakfast)

Any questions?

I am doing the Plaza for dinner next month. Any tips on what to order that's good? The menu looks good, that's why I chose it. Definately will get ice cream for dessert.

I had the Cheese Steak Sandwich and it was delicious! DH had the burger and said it was also very good. We really liked the Plaza - had never tried it before and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a small place, but pretty inside, and our food and service were quite good. :thumbsup2

Glad you had a good trip. What did you have at Prime Time?? How would you rate the experience??

Haven't heard of the Plaza before. I just started planning our ADRs, etc. Where is the Plaza located? Is it in one of the parks, or in one of the resorts? Please overlook my ignorance - don't want to overlook a single detail! Would hate to miss out on something!
Thanks!

Glad you had a good time! Olivias how did you enjoy that? I am kicking around the idea of going, would love your feedback!

Thanks

Glad you had a great trip! I would love some details on your experience, food and otherwise, at the WCC and Chef Mickeys. We'll be there in May with two kids 4&6! Thanks in advance!

Glad you enjoyed it! How was Chef Mickey's and the Plaza?

The Plaza is a small table service restaurant in the Magic Kingdom.

Thanks for this post, we'll be dining at the plaza for lunch for a first this trip. Can't wait. Menu looks good, especially the deserts! Did you get one? If so what, how was it?

I didn't expect so many replies! I'll try to answer everyone's questions....

The Plaza is a hidden gem in the Magic Kingdom - at the end of Main Street, across the street from Casey's corner. We really enjoyed it! The menu is small, but the food was delicious. We did not try a dessert this time, but lots of people around us did and they looked great!

We love the Prime Time eat here every trip. I had the meatloaf and it was WONDERFUL! Mom had the fried chicken and really enjoyed it, too. Our "Uncle Dave" was pretty funny - got onto DH about his elbows on the table, called DS "Scooter", funny little things like that. When DH didn't eat his root vegetable hash (the only thing there no one liked!) Uncle Dave did the airplane thing to make him take a bite. It's a lot of fun there. Sometimes we get servers that are not as "into it" as other times, but it's still a good time and a good meal.

Olivia's was quite good also - we actually ate there twice in one day (lunch AND dinner!). For lunch I had the crab cakes which were awesome, and for dinner I had the Caesar salad with grilled chicken, which was also very yummy. This place is also small, and without an ADR (what was I thinking?!?) we had to wait an hour. But it was OK - we got drinks from the Gurgling Suitcase and sat outside and enjoyed them while we waited. Kids played in Community Hall. All was good.

We always eat at Chef Mickey's on our first night, and it was as good as it always is for us (which is a positive thing because we do keep going back!). I think the food is good and you can't beat the character interaction (beats standing in line for photos and autographs in the parks). It's always a fun start to our vacation. Little kids would love it (mine are older now - 12 and 9 - but still enjoy going!).

We loved, loved, loved the WCC! The food was very good (we ordered off the menu instead of opting for the skillet meal) and the antics were hilarious! We were celebrating DS's b-day and they brought him a little cake and announced his b-day to the dining room - then 3 of the servers proceeded to sing to him WAAAAY off key - but half-way thru the song they snatched his cake right out from in front of him and snarfed it up!! It was SO FUNNY! They, of course, gave him another one, but the look on his face was priceless. BTW, be sure to ask for ketchup. ;)

Pizzafari and ABC Commissary - both of these were quick lunches for us, but I liked them both. Nothing special about either, but both were tasty. I had the noodle bowl at the Commissary and I liked it - my mother, however, did not. Still not a bad meal, tho.

I think that covers all the questions - if I missed anything or ya'll think of anything else, just let me know!

We were NOT on a Dining Plan (not available to DVC Members until 4/1) but we do have the DDE Card and it more than paid for itself. Also, we spent a lot less than we would have on the Dining Plan. Just FYI.

I know about the dining plan, but what is the DDE card and how can I get one?

PS, thanks for all the great info!!!

The DDE card is the Disney Dining Experience and it is available for purchase ($50 or $60 I think) to Annual Pass holders. It allows a 20% discount on all food and beverages for up to 10 people at your table, and can be used at most table service restaurants. We were also able to use it at Pizzafari in AK, which is counter service. For our party of 5 it saved us quite a bit, and since it's good for 1 year we will save even more with it when we go back after Thanksgiving. Well worth it, IMO.
