Went to another theme park last week/why I love Disney

I'm so glad to know I'm not the only one! We drove from Buffalo to Ohio this summer to spend two days in Cedar Point. My hubby/kids loved it but I absolutely hated it. We spent two long, hellish days there. I kept wondering how I could loathe CP so much but love Disney so much?

My family has a word for this - "vacation snobs". We know we compare everything to Disney and probably only the Busch Garden and Seaworld parks come close. We live less than an hour from a Six Flags and I haven't been there in probably 20 years. Last time we went, we had to walk thru a metal detector for weapons! :scared1:

I used to go to SFOG all the time when I was growing up in Alabama and loved going there even more than WDW (WDW was only Magic Kingdom way back at that time) but I liked it because of the coasters while MK was for the characters and because it was Disney.

Now I live in NJ and I love to take my DDs to Hersey - it's clean and the employees are super nice (we went a week ago) and then you mix in chocolate-you can't go wrong :lmao:. We haven't been to Great Adventure, mainly because we've heard it's not exactly suburban family friendly. Dorney is ok during the week.

We're planning on going to CedarPoint, HolidayWorld and Kings Island next year for a coaster/thrill ride vacation! :thumbsup2

My DDs are at the age that they like the coasters and thrill rides so we won't be going to WDW for a while, probably not until our European Tour in a couple of years then we'll have to go just because.....

Also, we have a Dark Night ride too...if it's the same as your, I found it to be more like Primevel Whirl than Space Mountain!!

That is so true!! except you can't see where you're going to "brace" your self...

We've been to Hershey and Dollywood also and liked both. Both were, fun, clean and had a very friendly atmosphere.

6 Flag IL had too many hats sideways and shorts hanging too low for my comfort...JMO

Also the food was very expensive. They had family "deals" for $45. Dh and I each got a hamburger meal (no drink but it had fries) and it was $13 a person. Tried to order just a hamburger, but they wouldn't let us...
