Well, this trip was....different. UPDATE - 9/1!

You totally just got "It's Good To Be Bad" stuck in my head!!!!! :rotfl2:

Wow - it looks like y'all had an AMAZING MNSSHP! I think the princess/prince pics are precious. And you can't go wrong with Mickey and Minnie!

Watching HalloWishes with your little guy is just lovely. :lovestruc

And getting to see the parade up close the second time! So cool! I absolutely love that parade. It is just so cool! :cool1:

Disney drunk ...... :lmao:

Good stuff !! I am wondering if you actually got up at 6:30 AM or just slammed that snooze button a couple of times.

Hey Amanda,

Subbing on a little late...:wave2:

So impressed that you ran the 5K and Ed ran the ToT...( I've just recently started... and it's my aspiration to one day do the ToT but I'd love to start with a 5K)... I think it's awesome that you still ran after just being ill and finished...:thumbsup2

Great stuff at the Halloween party...you're family looked great in your costumes... and the Halloween parade looked fabulous...

Reid is a little cutie and you have to feel great that he wanted to protect you...:goodvibes

Looking forward to reading more...

It looks like your night ended so well!! :yay: The Mickey and Minnie pictures were so great! And I love the interaction during the parade...it just adds to the magic! The picture of Buzz made my eyes tear up. That was the first character Madison met and was so excited! Toy Story (the first one!) had not been out long and I adore it so she was all about Buzz. That picture took me back!

Minnie and Mickey were adorable! I'm so glad you got to meet them!

WOW! What an amazing parade!!! I've never been to a MNSSHP, but I reeeeaaaallllly want to even more now!!

Reid's face was so priceless when he met Buzz! :goodvibes Too cute!!

Oh, and I've been Disney drunk too! :rotfl: That's too funny but I can so relate!! What a cutie!

It is just an inconvenient hassle, right? I can definitely see where doing 1 or 2 nights at the end would be more of a headache. Just as I say I won't do another split stay, I'm working on trying to get us an additional vacation next year. But, it would involve a split stay. :rotfl:

I know, I swear I would never do it again... but I am sure that I will someday. :goodvibes

Oh no! Did y'all stay in line for the Dwarves? Did they even end up coming out that night? I'm thankful we were able to get under some shelter relatively quick once the sky really opened up.

We did stay in line. We were almost next when it started to rain. (I want to say only a couple families ahead of us.). They decided to move the dwarves under cover... and some cm decided to move the line to filter under that same cover... only a more in charge cm said that could happen like he had moved us to...so we all moved from the original line to line up under the awning of the near by building and then had to move back to where we were originally. Had we stayed put we would have been done and stayed much dryer.

Very cool that you will be going back in October. I read you won't be going for the ToT run... what about Wine and Dine?

The Headless Horseman did not come out for the parade. I really wish he had. I was so looking forward to seeing him.

Kinda rude how the family lined up in front of you before Hallowishes. My dd had a medical emergency (of sorts) and so I missed most of the fireworks. From what I did see it looked to be an awesome show!!

The choreographed dance was something we missed. I had read about it and prepared dd for it... they had it on disney.com and so she practiced. It was a fun little dance, yes?

As I read through your account of the party, I can tell we must have been right behind you...we hit pirates right after the rain stopped and we ended in Tommorrowland... I know I didnt see such a cute little pirate though...

Hello! I know...long time, no Dis-boards! I'm trying to make my back and when I saw your post on my FB page, I wanted to come here and check out that yes, you have in fact, started your TR. :cool1: So, here I am...FINALLY! With a lot of catching up to do! :rotfl:

Although I love the pictures with Mickey and Minnie, I have to say that picture of Reid with Buzz brought a tear to my eye...just precious.

And look at Reid move...watch out, you might have a future Dancing with the Stars winner on your hands. :)

Amanda..um still here..no computer at home..but I'm still lurking about

aw I love the updates. Reid looks so happy.
I love Witch Minnie and Vampire Mickey. I got the princess and the pirate outfits when I was there but wanted the witch and vampire.
I love the new dance thing before the parade as well. Looks so cool.

Thanks! Reid really had so much fun at the party...we all did! And he definitely enjoyed dancing before the parade.

Love, love, love the pictures of Reid dancing before the parade! You can tell that the dancer was having so much fun with him.

Thanks! He did seem to really enjoy that Reid was into it and having fun with him.

Great pics with Mickey and Minnie! I can't believe that there was no line. That's awesome!

I couldn't believe it either! 10 minutes for princesses and then no more than 5 for Mickey & Minnie! It was unreal!

How great that you had so many amazing character interactions during the parade. What a special night!

It really made the party that much more fun. I am so glad we dressed in costume for the party. It really lent to the experience.

The Buzz pics are adorable. You can see in every picture how much fun Reid was having.

Awww....thanks! He was so happy to see Buzz.

You were getting up at 6:30?? :faint: You're a trooper. :goodvibes

I was more worried about Reid than myself. :scared:

The Mickey and Minnie pictures are adorable! I love their costumes... although I'm not sure what Mickey's costume is! :confused3 I know Minnie is a witch but Mickey? No idea. :lmao:

Thanks! Yeah, Minnie's a witch and Mickey is a vampire. I loved their costumes!

What a nice surprise to get such great spots for the parade! Why do you think people seem to hate that pre-parade dancing? I feel like sometimes people just look for things to complain about. What's the harm in teaching kids a dance?

I agree....people just want to complain about everything. All I know is that all of the kids out there dancing were having a great time!

Sounds like yall really got to enjoy the second parade! I love all the interaction you got! That parade sounds amazing.

I am so happy we caught the 2nd parade!! The interaction was amazing! It made me extra happy that we had dressed up!!

Is Buzz Reid's favorite? He's my favorite. Such cute pictures!

Thanks! He's definitely one of Reid's favorites and he's always excited to see him.

Oh isn't that parade just the best? We love it too! And I love how the performers included Reid so much, that is what I love about Disney. They make you feel like the parade is just for you!:goodvibes

That parade is really incredible! The interaction from the parade was just so much fun and we talked about it during the whole trip. It really made it extra special.

I started multiquoting your last update, but there were just too many things! You really had an awesome night at the party despite the rough start. It seems like you really lucked out on the lines to see characters and getting a great spot for the parade!

I am so glad we ended up staying for the party. I would say it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

The CM's all seem like they were on their A game that evening. All the way from the dancers to the characters in the parade to the CM's at the monorail. :lmao::rotfl2:

The CM's were amazing that night!! Oh - two other interactions I forgot:

1. The CM at Cosmic Ray's who was gathering our food - announced to everyone behind the counter that the Captain was there for his food.

2. In the dump shop after Pirates, a CM stopped me to ask if I could tell him a bedtime story. :rotfl: My response was "Oh no! It's much too late for that tonight."

I'm glad that eveything kind of came together for you in the end and you were able to stay so late and enjoy the party.

Thanks! I was really surprised that we ended up shutting down the party.

I need to start looking into this dance party thing. I wonder if they do it before the MVMCP parade too? I know DS would love it, but we might never get him to stay in one place for the parade after he gets up and starts dancing. :lmao:

I haven't heard yet if they're doing it or not for the Christmas party parade. I hope they do it for your DS! All of the kids had so much fun dancing!

What a wonderful conclusion to your MNSSHP night! You guys pretty much did everything!

It really ended up being a great night! That was definitely one of the best nights of our trip!

I forgot that they did that dance party, and we missed it because we watched from Liberty square. It looks like lots of fun, Reid was really cute out there dancing!

Thanks! It was really fun for the kids and helped the time to pass quickly before the parade.

You guys are such troopers staying until the very end! I'm looking forward to the next few years when we can push bedtime back that far and really enjoy late nights at WDW.

Yeah, a couple of years ago Reid couldn't even stay awake for the fireworks at MVMCP. You'll see a difference with Everett in just a year. But, then you'll have the baby. But, hopefully, he'll just sleep in the stroller and y'all can stay out later. :thumbsup2

Im glad the rain finally let up and you really enjoyed your party. I love your costumes and MNSSHP in general. The parade is the best and reid was getting down with the dancers I see!

Thanks! That parade is awesome! Reid loves to get down pretty much anywhere. :rotfl: But, he really had a great time dancing with them.

Reid is too cute "Don't hurt my mommy". Seriously, how cute is that? :thumbsup2

I thought it was really sweet of him and melted my heart.

You got some great PP pictures and Reid looks like he is having the time of his life. He is literally smiling from ear to ear.

Thanks! We all had such a great time at the party. It was so much fun!

Too funny about Wendy's comment during the parade. :lmao: What an awesome time you guys had at the party.

The character interaction during the whole night was just....magical! I mean, it really was! And it helped make the party even more fun than it already was.

You totally just got "It's Good To Be Bad" stuck in my head!!!!! :rotfl2:

:rotfl: It's such a fun song that it doesn't take much to get it stuck!

Wow - it looks like y'all had an AMAZING MNSSHP! I think the princess/prince pics are precious. And you can't go wrong with Mickey and Minnie!

We really had an awesome night! It was more than I could have hoped for!

Watching HalloWishes with your little guy is just lovely. :lovestruc

It really ended up being a nice moment.

And getting to see the parade up close the second time! So cool! I absolutely love that parade. It is just so cool! :cool1:

That parade is simply the best! I'm glad we got see the 2nd parade.

Disney drunk ...... :lmao:

He truly did look drunk....could barely walk. :lmao:

Good stuff !! I am wondering if you actually got up at 6:30 AM or just slammed that snooze button a couple of times.

I got up....but I did hit that snooze button once. :rotfl2:

Hey Amanda,

Subbing on a little late...:wave2:

It's never too late! Thank you for joining in! :goodvibes

So impressed that you ran the 5K and Ed ran the ToT...( I've just recently started... and it's my aspiration to one day do the ToT but I'd love to start with a 5K)... I think it's awesome that you still ran after just being ill and finished...:thumbsup2

Thank you! Trust me....if I can run....anyone can do it! Best of luck to you in continuing your running!

Great stuff at the Halloween party...you're family looked great in your costumes... and the Halloween parade looked fabulous...

Thanks! The party was so much fun. That parade is by far my favorite Disney parade now!

Reid is a little cutie and you have to feel great that he wanted to protect you...:goodvibes

Aww....thank you! I thought it was really sweet that he was worried about me.

Looking forward to reading more...

Thanks! I'm going to try to crank out an update (hopefully) tonight!

It was truly a magical night! We had the best time! I'm so glad we dressed up because I really feel like it added to our experiences.

Awww....I'm sorry I made you get all teary-eyed with the Buzz picture. We have to stop making each other cry on our TR's. :lmao:

Minnie and Mickey were adorable! I'm so glad you got to meet them!

I was so happy to meet them in their costumes! I just love it! And to have barely any wait was great!

WOW! What an amazing parade!!! I've never been to a MNSSHP, but I reeeeaaaallllly want to even more now!!

You really should go! It's so much fun! Definitely dress up if you go....it makes the experience that much better.

Reid's face was so priceless when he met Buzz! :goodvibes Too cute!!

Thanks! He was so excited to see Buzz again!

Oh, and I've been Disney drunk too! :rotfl: That's too funny but I can so relate!! What a cutie!

I think we've all been a little Disney drunk! :lmao: It was just so funny though!

Aww, such a cute pic with Buzz Lightyear.

Thank you!! :goodvibes

I'm glad they were at least able to move them to still do the meet & greets. That would have been really bad if they had just left....especially with y'all being so close to the beginning of the line.

Very cool that you will be going back in October. I read you won't be going for the ToT run... what about Wine and Dine?

I'm excited and hope it all comes to fruition. No, there will be no running if we do go next fall. We'll probably do another race sometime in the future.

The Headless Horseman did not come out for the parade. I really wish he had. I was so looking forward to seeing him.

I was, too! But, I'm glad to know we didn't miss him that he just didn't ride. I figured with the weather he didn't come out.

Kinda rude how the family lined up in front of you before Hallowishes. My dd had a medical emergency (of sorts) and so I missed most of the fireworks. From what I did see it looked to be an awesome show!!

Oh no! I hope she was okay!

The choreographed dance was something we missed. I had read about it and prepared dd for it... they had it on disney.com and so she practiced. It was a fun little dance, yes?

It really was a fun dance! Reid didn't get it perfectly but he was able to pick up on most of the steps.

As I read through your account of the party, I can tell we must have been right behind you...we hit pirates right after the rain stopped and we ended in Tommorrowland... I know I didnt see such a cute little pirate though...

Awww....I'm so sorry we missed each other!

Hello! I know...long time, no Dis-boards! I'm trying to make my back and when I saw your post on my FB page, I wanted to come here and check out that yes, you have in fact, started your TR. :cool1: So, here I am...FINALLY! With a lot of catching up to do! :rotfl:

Hi there! It's so good to see you back here!!

I have links to my updates in my 2nd post, if that will help you with the catching up. Glad to have you here!!

Although I love the pictures with Mickey and Minnie, I have to say that picture of Reid with Buzz brought a tear to my eye...just precious.

Awww....thank you!! It was really a great way to end our time at the party.

And look at Reid move...watch out, you might have a future Dancing with the Stars winner on your hands. :)

:rotfl2: You never know! That boy loves to dance!

Amanda..um still here..no computer at home..but I'm still lurking about

I'm glad to still have you here! I know it's hard not having the computer at home! :headache:

Just got done replying to everyone! Sorry I didn't do them over the weekend. We had to make a very quick trip to Georgia for some stuff with Ed's family. I was so happy to be home yesterday after spending three days in the car (7 hours Friday night to Montgomery, AL; about 7 or 8 hours on Saturday going to and from his family; and another 7 coming home Sunday).

I am going to try my best to do an update tonight for y'all! I don't know if I'll be able to crank out another one at the end of the week or not. Thursday, we are going to my mom's for lunch (she lives about an hour to an hour & a half away). From there, we are leaving (with my sister's family) to drive about 8 hours to Grapevine, Texas. We are taking the kids to this really neat resort and we'll be doing a Polar Express train ride sometime during the weekend. And then, we have to leave super early on Sunday to come home. It's about a 6 to 7 hour drive home and Reid has a birthday party at noon for one of his best buddies. :scared: So, I may be exhausted by the time we get home Sunday afternoon.

In case I don't "talk" to y'all before Thursday, I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

In Disney-related news: I have convinced Ed to let us go back to the parks next year!! :cool1: This will be in addition to our cruise! This year, our school board added a weeklong break in the middle of October. It's part of a new system where they get a vacation every 9 weeks. So, it should still be in place for next year. If so, that means we'll be traveling 10/12/13 through 10/19/13.

Where will be staying? Well........that's kind of up in the air. It will most likely be 1 of 2 scenarios:

1. We'll stay at a Hilton timeshare (we have some time we have to use) for the 1st three nights and then we'll switch over to Boardwalk for the last 4 nights.

OR

2. We'll be able to trade our time with our Hilton timeshare through RCI and into a DVC property. I am really keeping my fingers and toes crossed for this option. This is what we did to stay at OKW this year. I have put in an "ongoing search" with RCI. They are supposed to notify me as soon as they have availability that works for us. We'll see what happens!

Since this will be an "extra" trip next year, I'm thinking I may actually be able to keep it from Reid. I have always wanted to do a surprise trip but can never keep a secret! I really hope it all works out and that I'll be able to surprise him!

Wow, sounds like you are going to have a very exciting Thanksgiving weekend! How fun that you are headed to a resort, that is really the way to spend a holiday weekend! :cool1: The polar express train sounds like fun too, we're going to do something similar with Everett that same weekend for his birthday, I'll be interested to hear how your train ride went! :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

I highly recommend the surprises at least once! ;) I hope you will magically get what you wish for next year at WDW as far as resorts go!pixiedust:

Yes....it's going to be a very busy but (hopefully) really fun week. I'll do a little update about our non-Disney getaway when we get back.

I highly recommend the surprises at least once! ;) I hope you will magically get what you wish for next year at WDW as far as resorts go!pixiedust:

I really hope I can keep it a secret! And I just really hope it all works out. I'm so stressed that our school board will decide to do away with the Fall Break or move it to a different week. Hopefully, it will all work out and we'll be able to trade into a DVC property of out choice.

Hey there Tina! Good to see you round here again! :goodvibes

No worries! I completely understand.....I was happy to see her here, too! :goodvibes

Despite our late night at MNSSHP, I was determined to get us up early the next morning. My alarm went off at 6:30 am and, believe it or not, I only hit the snooze button once! I was out of the bed by 6:40 am and got myself ready for the day.

Around 7:15 am, I started to get the guys up. Understandably, Reid did not want to get up. After a little bit of prodding, he finally got up and got ready for the day. This day we did breakfast in our room with provisions from home.

By 8:25 am, we were on the road and headed to Islands of Adventure. Ed and I were a bit worried that we would run into morning work traffic. We got turned around leaving Disney but quickly got going in the right direction and we were able to make it to Universal for 8:45 am. We decided to try the preferred parking on this trip. It is only $5 more than regular parking and you get to park on the level that actually leads into CityWalk.

We made our way through CityWalk and on to Islands of Adventure. I had not purchased our tickets prior to our arrival so we had to stop at a ticket booth to take care of that. Finally, we were in the park by 9:10 am!

By the way, that’s not fog in the picture. It’s steam on my lens. Yeah, it was already that hot. In fact, I pretty much battled steam on my lens this entire trip. Unfortunately, most of the time I didn’t realize my lens was steamed up until after I had taken the picture.

Anyway, once we were in the park we headed to Reid’s favorite area:

I have to admit - I really love this area, too! Reid and I love Dr. Seuss stories so it’s a lot of fun to see them come to life here. The theming is fantastic! I could take pictures here all day long.

The first order of business was the traditional first ride for Ed and Reid:

Even Ed really likes this ride, especially the little song it plays. You have to listen to the directions in the song to know what to do with your fish. If you don’t follow the directions, you get soaked.....like the couple who was riding at the same time as the guys.

Up next was another favorite of Reid’s:

There was absolutely no wait so we actually ended up riding this 2 times in a row.

After our escapades with the Cat in the Hat, we headed to the Caro-Seuss-el.

Ahhh....the Truffula Trees!!

Once the guys were off of the Caro-Seuss-el, it was off to check out a part of Seuss Landing we had never gone to before........
