Hi,

I had to waitlist for HH too. I am trying for earlier dates!!! Pixie dust for both of us!!!

Allison

Studios and 1BR's at Hilton Head are scarce and very hard to get inside the 7 month window. I got the last studio for a July date in 2003 at exactly (to the minute, LOL) the seven month window. A 1BR never did open up for us off the waiting list. But, it is worth the try. What a great resort. We bought an add-on to make sure we could get a studio when we wanted one in the spring or summer.

Be carefuly what you wish for...I am deciding about the same time frame, last year August 13th gave us the thrill of evacuting due to hurricane!

We lucked up on a studio the third week of July at 7 months out calling day by day. But you should have good luck with the waitlist.

Well, to cheer you a bit...it was overcast and rainy here in SC today. And it will be nice and hot and muggy in August!

Good luck with your waitlist!

Did HHI actually make you evacuate, or did you do so on your own accord? Just wondering. And if they did make you evacuate -- how did they manage your pts?

We are booked for Aug 7-13 in a 2Br at HHI this year, much to my DH's GREAT concern (he thinks we're hurricane magnets now, I guess, after our run-in with Charley in Orlando).

Just wondering what the protocol is. One point in our favor, at least, is that I have family / friends scattered all over S.C. so at least I won't be scrambling for an inland hotel.

Hurricanes tell me about them last aug we had to fly to miami insted of tampa as it was shut we came in as charley was passing shure we could see it from the plane as we came in to land over florida as we landed in miami we drove up that night was all calm untill 10 miles out and you saw all the devistation only thing on the road was cops (from the uk we did not know there was a curfew on)and emergency workers working on dowend power lines and little old us we stayed for 2 weeks and then frances was due to hit before we left there were lots of lightning stikes (put the fireworks to shame)This year we have to go in aug as eldest ds has exams as its 3 weeks we might get a storm or 2 but that wont stop me going to florida or disney or changeing my plans live is too short

The Island had an optional evac. It was a zoo on the Island, so we were going to wait it out (could have walked out quicker than driving). The HHI staff were amazing. They kept giving us updates and closing things up (ie patio furniture in our room, picnic tables overturned outside). We had the choice of leaving. After hours of deciding to stick it out, a TA friend of mine (who had said stay put) called and said, go now....so we did. HHI staff had already supplied a list of hotel chains, they than helped me secure a room and were super nice people. It was actually at the same time that Orlando was being hit so MS was closed for a few days. I got all my points back. They were already restored in my account when I called a week later.
