Well That Didn't take Long!

Anyone want to have friendly bet?

I'll set the over/under at B 1/2, so the question is whether it will get to a C or higher.

Or ...

Will it hit Phase B before of after 1 pm EST?

I don't think it's a good deal at all. Those one-day guests already paid more for a Magic Kingdom ticket (is it $5 more?) so the quick service coupon barely covers the extra ticket cost they already paid and can't use. Plus the time lost to go to a different park and the fact you can't do what you planned even at 9:30 am. Late in the afternoon, I'd say it's lack of planning for the guest. But I'd consider hoping to get in just two hours or so after opening to be a reasonable plan.

Now, I'm glad to see they're offering some compensation but I'd still be pretty upset in those shoes.

Two hours or so after opening is when most of the phased closures start on NYE. They might relax a bit in the afternoon but possibly not for day ticket holders. Biggest phased closures should be around fireworks time.

Day ticket holders should get to MK early and stay there.

That's a horrible deal. People with single day Mk tickets don't want to go to the other parks that's why the bought the MK tickets. Ta the very least they should be given 3 fastpasses for the other parks since they can't even use their MK fastpasses I would be beyond mad if this happened to me.

Somehow I can't imagine that anyone who didn't realize that there would be an issue getting into the MK on NYE with a 1 day ticket would have enough fore-thought to make FP+ reservations before that day, if at all.

I learned something from that link. I didn't realize there was Phase A/B and THEN 1, 2, 3, 4. Are Phase A/B new since the advent of FP+

But it's not a reasonable plan on NYE. Not at all.

I don't mean this to sound snarky, but if a single-day guest can't get in only an hour or so after opening (I'm assuming it was an 8 am opening today, but don't know), did those guests really stand any hope at all? An hour or so just seems so early that they might as well not have bought the ticket or even tried at all.

It's a little confusing though - Phase 1 says guests with Magic Your Way base tickets would be turned away at the lot entrances, and it doesn't give the exceptions list. But what if you're a resort guest with MYW base tickets? (I'm not there and am not planning to be there on NYE ever again (was at EPCOT 5 years ago when I was stranded thanks to the NE Christmas blizzard) - I'm just curious why Phase 1 doesn't have the list of exceptions the others have.

Actually A and B seem to contradict some of what is specified in 1-3. (As in Stage 2 lists "guests with pre-purchased 1 day MK tickets" as being allowed in, but they already would have been turned away at Phase A. Very confusing with the A and B additions.)

Anything you "have" trumps anything you don't have. That's the way I always think of it. In other words, your ticket doesn't matter if you're staying on-site because staying on-property allows you access at that phase level..

-*reading that site, it looks like a Phase B B closure is the same as a Phase 3. Am I missing something?

Resort guests riding resort transportation would not be turned away, but guests in cars might be if the parking lots are full. If the lot is full then you can't park there.

I do sort of feel sorry for anybody who didn't realize they needed to get there as early as possible and stay there if they had a one-day ticket and stayed offsite...but that's how NYE rolls. Buying a ticket (even the MK ticket) does not guarantee entrance to the park you choose on the day you choose.

Today was an 8am opening with a 7am EMH.

NYE is also one of the singly most busy days at MK. It's not a day to show up anytime after opening expecting to get in with a 1 day ticket. So, no, they didn't really stand any hope. It's just not a good plan on NYE. You can debate whether it's fair or not, but the fact is that you need to start limiting guests access to the parks. It would never work to just suddenly close to all guests when it reached full capacity without some sort of warning and slowing mechanism.

Wow! I knew it was bad, but I didn't realize it got that bad that early. But I also didn't realize it was 7 am EMH. Just, wow!

I'm not at all surprised. If you're planning on being in the parks on NYE, I would think you'd realize you must get there at park opening. I would also think you'd have a plan B in case the park closed.

You actually couldn't pay me to be there today, it will be a madhouse and I'm guessing plenty of guests will be more annoyed at being there with the crowds than those being turned away.

A day guest on a one-day ticket going into MK on NYE didn't do any planning beyond, "Hey, let's go to the Magic Kingdom."

That said, free parking and lunch is on them to compensate for the change in plans. Good on them -- they didn't have to do that much...
