Well I guess all those double and triple reservations

Does this happen with ALL Disney cruises? I had to rebook an August 2005 cruise for a November 2005 Thanksgiving cruise last January, which you think would be pretty early, and it was 1,000 more. I thought the difference was that the rebooked cruise was during Thanksgiving, but does it also have to do with not booking in the first few days the cruise is released?princess:

for $3000.00 2 adults no insurance no transfers...

Would seem to me that we got in on the early tier of pricing

or close to it..???
anyone do way better Florida to Cal...

:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
We got a cat 11 for one adult, one child for about 3100 if I subtract the price of the transfers and insurance. We booked directly through DCL and called right at one pm (and we on HOLD forever--but finally got through!)
Who did you book through to get it a hundred dollars cheaper (plus a bit more, since port taxes are cheaper for a child). I thought ours was rock bottom. Lucky you!! :) A hundred odd bucks would have bought me a nice new cruise outfit.

The rate for the Thanksgiving & Christmas cruises are always higher than the off season rates from mid August to mid December...except the week of Thanksgiving. Normally early booking discounts apply for several months until a certain number of rooms in a category have been booked. We booked our 12/4/04 cruise on 12/30/03 & got the early booking discount. Our category 10 stateroom is now about 1500 more than what we paid for it.

We went to our TA last Wednesday to check on DC vs. RCCL and he had no idea about the Magic moving to the west coast. He had to call someone to find out. I was under the impression that TA's should know more than their client.

I, too, was the informant for my TA about 2 weeks ago regarding the DCL move to the west coast and the repo cruises. I really don't think she believed me at first, but she called DCL right then to confirm that it was a "possibility." (By the way, her quote was over $1000 more than DU's for the same stateroom last week! She didn't get it until Fri, although she sent in a fax before the 5th.)
But, you can't blame most TA's, unless they specialize in Disney. They have every other cruiseline, theme park and city to take into consideration for their jobs. (Although a weekly update check on the Dis would be a great resource for any TA that books Disney at all! An hour on the Dis a week is a wealth of info!!!!)

Our TA was on top of it, and sent out a postcard the day the bookings opened up, but we'd been on the ship the week before and already knew the date of the announcements. She laughed when my DH called and knew exactly what he was calling for!

I just kindof expected the price to be double what I paid for the 7-day, and didn't check until that first evening. I was floored to see the price well below what I expected. I jumped over to the DISboards and read through the postings about the booking chaos, woke DH up to discuss it and make my case for getting an early booking. He didn't look it up until noon the next day (I was still pestering him) and he booked it immediately, to my utter amazement. We got the category 8 room assignment we wanted, 2 adults, 2 kids, $8043, without insurance or transfers. I was a little bummed to see someone back a few posts who got a category 4 with the same number of adults and kids for the same price as our category 8. No verandah for us, but we do have a window, and I loved watching the ocean go by on our last cruise! And the best part? We ARE GOING!

DenverVal-Looks like we are 'neighbors'! Are you sailing on the FL-CA or the CA-FL?

Is that you?!!! :wave2:

We are sailing on the FL-CA....:boat:

It was a real toss up with DD either missing the end of school or the beginning. I am keeping my fingers crossed that her teachers will understand.....and she'll have to work harder earlier to get those finals taken.

Looks like rain today!

It is! :p

We're in the same "boat", so to speak. Our choice was to have the kids will miss two weeks near the end of the year or the very first week of school. We opted for missing one week vs two. Elementary schools in our district have assessment testing the first two days of the week, and maybe she can take them a few weeks early. She'll actually only be missing three days; my middle-schooler will miss the first week. Hey, it could be worse....like CSAP time? :teeth:

I don't have a window in my "office". We'll hope for rain. My lawn could use it.

We just became Vacation Club members. Maybe we could talk?

Hi we are from Denver my husband myself and our 9yr old daughter will be on the 14 day CA toFl. caint wait

The DCL gal I spoke with when I called to put my deposit on the cruise told me that although it had technically sold out (I was glad I had early ressie!), they knew that people had made multiple reservations trying to get the best rate. Many people booked thru a TA, then directly thru DCL or whatever. Actually, the only way to get a "deal" was to book early. She did say that as of 5/11, it would all be "rack rate" with no early booking discounts, and all rooms would be gty as that gives DCL the most flexibility.

In any event, as she predicted, all categories have opened up as people let multiple ressies expire or just didn't make the deposit.

I'm just glad that we'll be sailing.......

DenverVal-No snow in our part of town......yet..... even though we are close to the foothills. Lots of rain though.....woo hoo!
