Well I guess all those double and triple reservations

I was just curious........I was one of the first to book the 10 nighter. It did the same thing....good rooms went quick then became available at a higher price......now it looks as if they are less expensive. Every catagory is available.....and they will be for a while!!! IMHO

hmm I just priced the 10 day and right now the same category room I have on the 14 day list for $400 less....not exactly a bargain price....especially considering that the 10 day price now is $3000 more than im paying for on the 14 day...

When I booked my TA he wanted $$ now ooooorrrrr you know, supply and demand.....let everyone think it's sold out.....hmmmmmm how can every catagory free up on both sailings??

DCL did NOT extend the deposit due date on any of these cabins. Generally you can get it done, but not always, and DEFINITELY not on these new sailings. Also they are not giving you much time to get the deposit made on these new sailings as they normally do.

I suppose I should get ready to get flamed but, but don't you think all of the people on the DisBoards et al ,who "reserved " all of the cabins "just in case they might want to go" or reserved several different categories "until they decide what they want" contributed very nicely to the prices going thru the roof??? and as people have mentioned, once you release the cabins the price stays high.

In theory I guess...but how many cabins does it really translate into? I'd be willing to bet there still fairly booked...and it is supply and demand...I doubt Disney is going to price the cabins out of the market...they do want them to sell.

After all those cabins were released the price went UP...so they must anticipate the demand to still be high...

just a guess on my part..

Have to admit Grendel, it is interesting to watch....college economics classes should read these boards:)

I agree it is interesting...
another interesting point though...would the cruise have sold as many cabins on the first day if they started out at the max price??

probably not...that was my big draw to book...i got in early and the price was a great deal...if it had been on the high end I wouldnt have booked it. But you could argue that putting the prices at the low end help feed frenzy....

some people were lucky and are paying much less...either way though the experience of this cruise promises to be great..regardless of price..

We went to our TA last Wednesday to check on DC vs. RCCL and he had no idea about the Magic moving to the west coast. He had to call someone to find out. I was under the impression that TA's should know more than their client.

Well it would help if Disney would actually get the word out to their TAs!

I did get a D-mail from them about it today, arrived at 6:31 pm. Actually I just checked and it was mentioned briefly in their May 5 D-mail too. But if for whatever reason you're not receiving those (I didn't until I suddenly started getting them this month) then I don't know how the average TA would find out.

Now then, having said that there are some TAs out there that are just a little out of touch. I had that experience booking a DL trip in the 90's. I knew where I wanted to go, what vendor I was interested in them using, which hotel etc. I sat down with the TA and said I wanted to go to Disneyland, and she went on and on about their options for WDW. I had to stop her twice and say No, DisneyLAND - the other one, on the other coast. She was really surprised that anyone would want to go there, and had no information on it at all. Thank goodness I did!

Well, if the prices keep going up I would think that there will be alot of upgrades for the early bookers when it comes time to set sail.

LIke others have said.. i think we did ok got a cat 11
for $3000.00 2 adults no insurance no transfers...

Would seem to me that we got in on the early tier of pricing

or close to it..???

I hope so!! :hyper:

They told us at the Castaway CLub rection today that both 14 day cruises are totally sold out. I didn't check when I went to rebook since I was just rebooking a 7 day for April 30th though....

Per the DCL site, Cat 4-11's are available now for both the Westbound and Eastbound. At one point in time, there wasn't anything left but I've been checking periodically over the past day and lots availability is back, and with choices of stateroom.

But, not choices of price so I'm keeping my June 05 RCCL Alaska Cruise booked. At least I get 3 days on DCL in Dec.

Hi travellady: Do you mean choice of categories or staterooms? When I tried to check specific cabins this morning, the CM said they were told that the repo cruises would be sold gty only from now on.

I suspect it's probably categories - I only went as far as seeing the categories that are available though the text did include the word stateroom but none specifically. When I checked Sunday evening, there were no categories available so things are opening up (= deposits not being paid when due I suspect).

okay, so now they are only booking GTY on the repo cruises.....

What if you already have a specific room reserved and want to change categories? Do we go from an assigned room to GTY?? Or do we still get an assigned room?

And, since I've never done GTY .... how does it work??? If the category is "over sold" how do they decide who stays in that category and who gets "bumped up"???

What does GTY stand for... I am guessing it means no assigned room... what other details...

and if you have an assigned room is there no chance of an upgrade?
We wont get upgraded since we have connecting rooms for this cruise, just wondering!

Thanks!

O.K., can't answer all of these but.....

ivanova, that's exactly what I was trying to do. I already have an assigned room and was hoping to grab another specific room in a different category (no, not the SPH, although that would be nice), but was told that they would only transfer to a guarantee (that's gty). I could stay in the same pricing tier, but would have to take my chances on which deck and room I ended up on. (Won't do that -- wouldn't be prudent).

There seem to be all sorts of theories as to how to get an upgrade, but from the posts here it seems that it really doesn't matter if you have a gty or assigned room. In fact, some folks have reported that they were "upgraded" from a room they wanted to a room they really didn't want. What does seem to matter is when you book. Again, just from the anecdotal reports here, the early bookers seem to get the upgrade.

I'm not holding my breath that there will be a lot of upgrade possibilities when we board in 15 months ;)

I'd rather keep my assigned room, simply because hubby REALLY wants aft or midship, and REALLY does NOT want foreward. Knowing my luck we'd end up with a room at the nose of the ship!! :earseek:
