I just ordered a Sigma 10-20mm and my wife is not aware of it yet. Guess I better build a doghouse out back so I have someplace to sleep. :)
I don't think she will be to mad since I just ordered here a new Nikon Coolpix S50 for her trip to NY and WA later this year.

When I saw the "internal struggle" I was really hoping I was going to see, "I decided to get a Canon..." oh well.

... but think of the wide angle pics of the dog house you'll be able to get!

That's a fun lens- I love mine.

I am very envious! Our tax refund was direct deposited yesterday and I had a really hard time not clicking the order button when I was browsing online today! But alas I needed to get my not running car running. Priorities! I thought perhaps I could sneakthe lens in there and tell DH that it came free with hte car repair, but I don't think he woudl buy that! You know, a get your mass airflow sensor replaced and we give you a free lens special!

Have fun with your new lens! I want one!

>I am very envious!

You won't feel envious when Furgus' DW finds the bill for the lens, he's gonna' feel like one of the diapers you tossed in the trash!
And you should get a free lens just for knowing what a MAF sensor is! :)

You are a brave man! At least you got your wife something. I might also suggest dinner and flowers. :flower3: It might help keep you on the porch, and not in the doghouse. Any way, enjoy and post some pictures! :thumbsup2

See...this is why I handle the money in our house and only give DH cash. The man does not even have a debit card. But in all fairness I am usually the one trying to sneak in a purchase here and there. Like the new case for my computer I got last month.

Well I told the wife this morning, she was not to upset. I think it is because of her new camera coming, and that I have been talking about this lens since before my surgery a couple months ago.

Isn't it funny how they (talking about any "significant other" here, of any gender) can get upset if you spend money that you shouldn't, but not upset if you spend even more money as long as they get a new toy, too? :confused3 It works that way in our house too...

hmm i have to have surgery myself in a month...yet another good excuse/reason to buy a lens? ie "forget the card and flowers dear, get me a 17-40mm"... might just work....;)

It might work. Good luck with your surgery, and I hope your recovery was better then mine.

Hmmm. So the secret is 1) buy something for DW, and 2) pending medical procedures. This is going in my "How to Keep DW Happy" notebook.

You might even "throw in" a trip to Disney World too, that would make EVERYTHING alright! :woohoo: :rolleyes1

My scam is to start talking about buying some go-fast parts for my car, which DW thinks is too fast already. Then I go for "...maybe I should get a lens instead..." and she is happy that I forgot about the car parts. :)

Well I just got my new lens, after much hassle from DHL, not going to go into that here, boB has heard all about it at work. Anyways, just did a couple test pics to make sure it works. Nothing fancy, just shot it auto and fired some off.

This is about 5 feet in front of my house, man this thing is wide.

This is about an inch away from my neighbors Jeeps' headlight.

This lens seems like it is going to be very fun, and I can't wait to try it out more this weekend.

At first glance, I thought you wrote "much hassle from DW"...

Hassle from DHL is nothing compared to hassle from DW!

I must fess up I had to think twice about "much hassle from DHL" thanks to all the abbreviations on these boards!! I saw DH and instantly thought darling husband (not realizing you were male) but I couldn't figure out what the L was, then it sunk in, DHL the delivery company. Duh!!

Nice pics!!:thumbsup2
