Welcoming the Magic to TEXAS and sending her off in style!! 9/22/12 **UPDATED 9/21

That's AWESOME! My dad is a 24 yr US Navy vet! I'd love to see a Navy ship! Been on a dependants cruise or two onboard a few ships.

My stepson is in the Navy too. DH went on a Tiger cruise from Portugal to Norfolk. He loved it.
We got invitations from the Navy to see the commissioning of the USS Fort Worth. Since we live in Fort Worth we thought it would be cool to attend. I think it will be very interesting.
We have a full day Sat. Sept. 22.... Up early for the arrival of the Magic, grab breakfast then off to the commissioning. Hurry back to the car to unload the luggage and get on the Magic.... then of course all the fun begins... We'll be looking for y'all from the deck!

We are going to keep an eye on it, and if she comes in around 7ish then we will be there for it, but we won't be at Denny's at 4.

I'm getting excited too! Saw that she made it into New York, so isn't she now going to be leaving to come here? Love the marine tracker app, I'm going to be keeping an eye on her as she makes her way down to us.

Saturday morning is up in the air for me too. I will keep an eye on her progress.

I just realized our mouse ears are in storage (since the move to the apartment this summer). Gonna have to go dig 'em out this week!

So right now she is showing as coming in at 5:20 am CDT. Assuming that stays true, what time do you think you will stay at Denny's until? Also, where are you going to park at the harbor.

Good question... I guess we'll probably still stick with the plan of tracking the Magic, and heading to the pier based on her location. If it pans out that she will definitely be arriving around 5:20, I'd say we'd probably be at Denny's until around 4:50 or so. Shouldn't take us but a few minutes to get to the pier at that point. I'm parking right up near the pier on 19th or 20th -- next to the Ocean Star museum. I know it by sight, but can't remember now if it's 19th or 20th... it's whichever one is right at the right edge of the pier if you're facing the water. I think it's 19th.

I will post a quick update to this thread when we're leaving Denny's and heading to the pier!

Last time I looked this morning, there weren't any updates. Then forgot waiting to see the shuttle. Got to see that it was awesome, she flew to the west of our building. She was real low.

I'm not familiar with that area at all, but looking at Google maps/earth - are you talking about the parking that is directly across the street - they look to be open parking lots that are directly across from what looks to be the pier?

If you look at this map here, the pier is there between the Harbor House on the left and Joe's Crab Shack on the right. We actually always park right there in those rows of cars just to the left of Joe's, that extend right to the pier. I think that big lot is just for Harbor House and Joe's. Honestly, I'm having to play the parking thing by ear this time -- it has never been a problem to park right up front before, and I don't think it'll be a problem at 5am, but for sailaway I'm assuming we'll be parking back on the streets in the downtown area. It's going to be tricky, thanks to that Navy thing going on!

My Hubby and I were planning on going out to greet her. Glad to see there is a group going!

We will be down there around lunch time and will definitely be there for the sail away. Hopefully its not to late to try and meet up with y'all. I am bringing my Mickey Hands that we received on my DD's Grad Trip to WDW in June 09.

Love the shirts that y'all disigned. Too bad I missed the boat on that one.

Can not believe that it is only 3 days away before Disney makes its 1st stop in TEXAS!!
