Welcoming the Magic to TEXAS and sending her off in style!! 9/22/12 **UPDATED 9/21

:wave2: Linda, awesome that Becky got to see the sign:cool1:. I was afraid it was way to small for anyone to see. Glad someone had binoculars for her to see.
Dena

Dena, you made our day. Thank you so much for your kind gesture. We felt so excited to watch the Magic come in and then to get an email telling us about the sign was just amazing. I think a few people thought we were in Galveston to surprise her but Rebecca said "mum will have asked some one on a forum to do it". Of course I was as surprised as she was. Once again thank you x I don't suppose you have a photo of the sign? Best wishes Linda x

trying to upload pictures... can some one please tell me how to do this i cant figure it out :confused3:badpc:

I was glad to meet several of you this morning! Yes -- I am the one whose daughter dropped her shoe into the water by sticking her foot through the wire mesh thing behind Willy G's (or whatever that was we started out at). We ended up down at the pier to watch the Magic come into port when my college roommate had wandered past that area while parking, so we headed that way.

Got to see the sailaway, and even made a 6:30 flight home. :) We personally knew four folks onboard - so I hope they are enjoying a wonderful dinner or show just about now. :) We are hoping to book a cruise soon on the Magic, but are definitely on the EBTA in May.

So glad we made the trip down to welcome the Magic!

In case you did not see the Youtube video Galveston.com did this morning, here it is.

Thanks for all the effort to get us all together, Gina! My family had the BEST time, confusion & all! It was so sooo much fun meeting so many others and sharing all the excitement. Loved every moment! We should get the gang together more often. Now that we'll have the Magic coming & going maybe a late lunch & sail-away can be event enough for another meeting of the minds!

We crashed for several hours then headed back to the island for sail-away. We just got on the island when she got underway. There was no way we could get to Sea Wolf in time so we raced (literally) out to the very end of the sea wall. Got some great pics! I was surprised at the size if the crowd there to see the Magic sail out. One little girl was crying because she wasn't onboard. A couple from New York asked us what everyone was rushing out to the water with cameras to see. That was fun to explain. LOL!

Thanks again for such a fabulous day! We're extra pumped for the Dream next week! WOOT!

Bon voyage, Mickey. See ya real soon....

That's what I ended up doing in the morning. I was at Pier 21 about 6:30 when I overheard a cop letting some people know that they could probably get good pics from the ferry landing (since we couldn't get on the pier where the Ft Worth was tied up). The ferry landing was a bust as there are very few places over there to just stand around, and those have some seriously obstructed views.

I thought about going to Seawolf, then realized the seawall would be closer. I got there just as Magic was coming over the horizon (Someone posted a link to some of the pics I took and posted on CC earlier in this thread). After Magic passed by I still had plenty of time to get back to the pier, get parked, and find a good spot to watch from. I never found anyone I was hoping to meet up with (or might have and just didn't know it as I did speak with a couple of people there). I ended up in the area between Fisherman's Wharf and Terminal 1.

I had a great time yesterday morning. Had a great adventure stalking the Magic with ya'll.

We are planning on driving down from Dallas next weekend to see the Magic off. (I'm jealous y'all got to go yesterday!) After your experience, where would you recommend we go to watch her sailing by? I've read back through - and it sounds like Sea Wolf park might be a good place? Is it better than the end of Seawall Blvd (I'm assuming you just drive to the north end of the island and there's a place to park there).

Thanks!!!

I was watching the news clip on the ABC13 news Saturday evening on their webpage. And they interviews 3 women, that was wearing the shirts that the boards had designed for the welcoming. So cool ::yes::.

Thanks Dena, she said she would never have seen it but for her boss spotting it through his binoculars. When he radioed her to come to his office urgently she thought she had done something wrong lol x :rotfl2:

I would say either Sea Wolf park, or you could also go to one of the restaurants by the cruise terminal - Fisherman's Warf is one that people were at on Saturday. There's also a pier that goes behind the Ocean Star museum, that's were we stood to watch her come in.
