Welcoming the Magic to TEXAS and sending her off in style!! 9/22/12 **UPDATED 9/21

My Hubby and I were planning on going out to greet her. Glad to see there is a group going!

We will be down there around lunch time and will definitely be there for the sail away. Hopefully its not to late to try and meet up with y'all. I am bringing my Mickey Hands that we received on my DD's Grad Trip to WDW in June 09.

Love the shirts that y'all disigned. Too bad I missed the boat on that one.

Can not believe that it is only 3 days away before Disney makes its 1st stop in TEXAS!!

Glad you found our little group!! I am way jealous of your Mickey hands... I regret never getting any before, but I never thought we'd have any use for them again!

Are y'all going to join us for lunch at The Spot? I'm trying to nail down about how many people will be there for that.

For anyone joining us at The Spot, I'm going to try and get the bigger table that's upstairs and outside on the deck. If it's already full up there, I'm not sure... Hopefully people will be able to recognize me and find me! I probably won't have my Minnie ears on at that point. The general public thinks I'm strange enough as it is, LOL. But I think DS and I will have our pin lanyards on -- that should make it easier! And we'll have our special shirts on.

Can't believe it's just a few days away now!!

Yes we were thinking about meeting y'all for lunch. I will post a pic of us in the Facebook thread tomorrow. There is just the two of us.

We are sailing out of Galveston on the October 20th cruise and are so excited that its only about 30 days away.

I'm in!! I'm new to the boards so I can't PM you, Gina. I just joined the FB group so maybe that will help. I also am staying at the Motel 6 on Friday. I'll be at Denny's and for the arrival (yay! been waiting so long) but then I have to be at the port at 9am to check in for a travel agent event onboard. But, sadly, I won't be sailing away. They're gonna make us walk the plank at 1pm. But I'll take what I can get (until I sail in November). Looking forward to meeting everyone ºoº

So glad you and the few others are still going to be able to join us at Denny's... I was afraid it would be just DS & I at that ungodly hour. Of course, as long as there's bacon present, he won't care what time it is or who else is there, lol.

Yes, it's right at Seawall and 32nd. It depends on where you're coming from as to whether you'd turn left or right... But if it helps, you might print out the map linked on the first page! I still refer to it ALL the time. My dear sweet brother likes to say that I could get lost in a culdesac with a map and a compass.

So when we get to Denny's Saturday morning are we just telling the seaters we're with the Dis bunch to find everyone (if they aren't already standing there waiting, also)? I'll prob'ly carry in my mousy ears. It'll be very early for actually wearing them. LOL! Also, if we happen to be the first ones there, do we have a number of people we are expecting so we can warn them? Or, do you think we should call ahead like maybe Friday evening to tell them there's a bunch with __ number of people coming at 4 a.m.?

I've been thinking about this all day, and I still have no good answer... I don't think we're going to have very many now at Denny's, with the crazy early time, and surely we'll have our choice of tables at 4am... DS & I will try and get there a few minutes early and tell the hostess that if anyone comes in looking for the "Disney group," that's us. And we'll have our pin lanyards on.

And yay that the cousin is coming along! The more the merrier!!

Hey Gina & Dena - I wish I could bring you all. Ya'll deserve it more than some of the agents I've met at these functions. But, I have to say that Disney is more selective than the other cruise lines in who they invite to these events. Some of the "agents" I meet during other lines' ship tours are clearly there for any freebies and free food, not really to learn so they can help their clients find the ship that's right for them. DCL's pretty strict about your credentials. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox

Lee - that's okay you can't take us. That's goood that Disney is particular about who they have represent their cruiseline. You can at us as you walk the deck. I'll get to be on board on the 13th of October.

Ok, while I'm waiting for my doctor... I want to get y'alls thoughts on something. The Galveston Daily News is reporting that the Magic will be in at 7, and the port said 7-8 when I called a little bit ago. But Marine Traffic still shows estimated arrival at 5:20.

I haven't been able to track the ship. It's crazy to meet at 4 if the ship isn't going to be in until 7... But I absolutely don't want to miss her coming in, either! So what do you all think we should do?

There has to be someone who has a concert answer, don't know who that would be, but you would think DCL would have a set schedule for new arrivals in port. And then the Port would be the next best.

Glad I'm not the only one who hasn't been able to track the Magic. Very frustating. I have no idea, what the best course of action would be.

Okay - after sick child yesterday, her doctor appt, and thinking this was not going to happen, I am about to go take older child out of school early so we can come down! Where do we check for updates? I am about to be without a computer, but will have cell phone.

Jill -- you have my number - I may just text you. I know you are probably already down there. If I am not on a flight by 4, I will have issues flying standby with the loads - so trying to come down sooner. College roommate and her daughter will now be with me. I did not get a chance to make cool Texas shirts

Here's a little bit of it

To mark Disney’s arrival on the island cruising scene, the port is planning events from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday at Pier 26. The events, which are open to the public, include games, a Radio Disney DJ and a raffle for a pair of tickets to Justin Bieber’s sold out Oct. 30 Houston concert. Proceeds from the sale of the $5 raffle tickets benefit The United Way.

Disney Magic is expected to sail in about 7 a.m. Saturday. While no public events are planned at that time, the port will allow the public to gather on Pier 26 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to get a dockside view of Disney Magic.
