Evening, all. It was an E ticket extravaganza today with Elaine. We met up at Expedition Everest after the annoying traffic backup. Wow! The theming on the ride is awesome. Then, over to capture an Aladar of our own. Great minds think alike- we both posed as if we were terrified, lol.

We hopped over to MGM for RnR, ToT and the Narnia exhibit. It was incredible-when the wardrobe opened, the view was beautiful. We lunched at Mama Melroses and enjoyed yummy food. Throughout, Elaine got a lot of b'day wishes because of all the b'day pins. :teeth:

Next was a hop over to Epcot. We rode Soarin, then met up with Nancy and her DH Dave for the Behind the Seeds tour. It was a lot of fun-all of us lamenting our sorry gardening skills when compared to the magic they create over there.

We went and vegemetated at Elaine's room for a bit. Dave is a very funny guy! Dropped Nancy and Dave at their room to get ready for dinner and then Elaine and I went over to DTD for a bit of shopping. We both were successful in our missions over there.

I had to head home, but I'll be going back over. Hoping I don't have to bail them out. After all, they ARE at DTD! Who's in charge of the bail fund lately? I may need to call you, lol.

Tara, I hate to say I know Jack, too. He's my uncle.

Kimmar, sad story. :grouphug: and prayers.

Paula, sounds like you had a good day at Church.

Alan, you're in trouble with a petite yaya! Something about being partially nekkid?

Back later...

Kimmar...I hope those boys do well. I'll keep them in my thoughts!!

Suzanne...did you go and tell Lainey about her cabana boy sneaking around in his all together?? :lmao: So you know Jack?? I hope he is not as mean as my jack!!!

Well, Jack and I are headed to bed now. I'll see you all tomorrow!!!

What? She wanted me totally nekkid? I don't think so.

Besides, that ice is cold!

It does sound like y'all had a great day though :)

Good Morning!

Glad to hear the Ya Ya's are having fun at the World. :)

Kimmar, prayers going out for your friend's son and the other boy involved in the accident.

Ordered a new dishwasher yesterday. The store had no white ones in stock. It will be in on Friday. YAY! I have missed having a dishwasher these past few months.

Ugly, cold, and snowy out today. Blech!

Hi Ya Yas!

Kimmar, such sad news.

Suzanne, thanks so much for the report form afar! Glad to hear fun is being had.

Busy me here. Work is in turmoil. DS is healing. He is off pain meds, but still in pain...at least he is dealing with it w/o chemicals. Doc ok'd showers for him! WE are all glad of that. Whew! :teeth: One week down, five more to go...

Hi again.....

Something's been weighing on my mind this morning so I turn to all of you for your thoughts and opinions....

How do you handle someone who inside is a very good and loving person but on the outside puts a negative twist on everything?

I am talking about my DH.... Here's an example: You all know that we have been going thru some rough times with Chris - Chris has been making great efforts to change things around - do better in school - etc. He brought papers home last night - 80, 90. 100. Left them on the table for my husband to see - this morning my husband said to him...."good papers Chris now where are the bad ones that you don't show us because if they were all this good you report card would be alot better".....I wasn't sure if I should step in or not (these comments are not new and have really effected Chris over the years) so I did say :this is a new quarter and he's showing you that all of his papers are good so far". I could tell that Chris was dissapointed. It makes me sad that such a good man chooses to live his life so negatively - another example - I told him last week "Alyssa says her classes are good - they seem pretty easy so far" - his response "well if they're that easy why isn't she taking another?".

Maybe I just needed to vent ...or maybe I want to send you all running for the biggest bag of Cheetos you can find.....
I am going to talk to Chris counselor about this - me - being the person that will do anything to avoid confrontation usually just holds it in.

Thanks for listening..... :lovestruc

:grouphug: Paula...Since you mentioned it, I would go with the bag of cheetohs. Chris needs all the encouragment he can get (and Alyssa for that matter). I've had parents like that and all I can do is continue to point out the good things the child has done and hoep that I'm having some influence on them.

Did DH go to any of the counseling sessions? Maybe the two of you could go and the counselor can help point this out and give him ways of dealing with Chris' grades/behaviors in a positive way. I'm glad Chris is showing improvment!! Every little bit helps!

Here's a funny for ya'll from my PITA child....I was watching the 1-2-3 Magic DVD by Dr. Phelan. I got some really great ideas from it and have begun implementing it. One of the things he said is that if a kid throws a tantrum in their bedroom and destroys their room, do not clean it up for them. Let them live in it, b/c if YOU clean it up they will have no reason to NOT do it again. Upon hearing this I made the decision to not clean up his room if he does this again.

So the other day he was having a massive fit. He tore the covers off of his bed and threw them in the floor. I warned him not to do that because I was not going to fix his bed (and he hates if his covers aren't right on his bed). He thought I was kidding. So later he asked me to fix his bed. I told him no. He asked why, so I said, "Well, the video I watched about the 1-2-3 Magic said not to fix a child's bed or room if they make a mess because they will just do it again and again. So I decided, and I warned you, that I was not going to make your bed again if you destroy it." So he sat there and thought for a minute and then said, "Well, I think we should sell that DVD!" :lmao: :lmao: The good thing is that before bed he did fix his bed and hasn't tried to destroy it in the last 2 fits!! :rotfl: Maybe he has learned something!!!

Okay, off to look like i'm working!!

tara

Hi Lily - sending good thoughts for your son's continued recuperation. :thumbsup2

Tara - yes my DH has been to sessions with Chris and you are right - it may be time for him to go again - in all honesty I do believe it is not intetional - my husband is the type of person that hates attention (does not believe in celebrating birthdays - etc) - does not know how to accept compliments - I'm wondering if it's because he never got that as a kid and because he can't accept it he does not know how to give it out? I am definitely going to talk to Chris' counselor about this on Friday.

Good for you for sticking to your guns with Jar - my biggest problem is that I hate confrontation so much I can be a really big pushover.

**** about Chris - forgot to mention - he applied for jobs yesterday and is seriously considering joining the golf team at school.

More later....

....Drs. had to remove one kidney because it wasn't functioning - still in an induced coma. And now, some really disturbing news - rumor has it that they found Ecstacy in the car....hope that is NOT true... :sad2:

:rotfl: Evening, all.

Another wonderful day at WDW. Lainey wants to bring the very blue skies home with her. She showed us the sparkly mickey shorts a guy by the name of AA's wife bought him, lol!!! :lmao:

Had a surprise guest-Pam! She was in town for a conference and squeezed in a couple of hours with us. However, I think we may need some bail money for her and Nancy. See below:
f03c2a6c.jpg

I don't know which was more entertaining-the ride on Space Mountain or first timers Nancy and Pam's reactions to it, lol!

Oh, and Elaine promised Nancy and Dave that they wouldn't *really* get wet on Splash Mountain, but we DID! :rotfl:

It was soooo very nice to have yayas to play with for a couple of days! That said, I spent a lot of time with Lainey and didn't get a single picture of her! Dave was kind enough to take a picture of us and I've got this foul look on my face (still trying to figure out why), so that one won't be posted.

Paula, your assessment of DH is most likely correct. Remember that poster in the 70s "Children Learn what They Live?" My ex was an excellent example of that adage. It doesn't mean he won't change, just that he needs help in seeing that treating Chris as a failure contributes to it.

Tara, we had a 123 Magic night. We tried to go out to dinner, both boys freaked out that we were going to abc restaurant, not xyz. Freakout got really bad (both ORDERING us to go to xyz). Turned around and went home. Too bad, so sad!

Lily, yay to showers for DS!!! No pain meds is a good thing. Sorry about the work turmoil. Been there, so :grouphug: to you.

Sherry, amazing how much you get used to an appliance, huh? Dishpan hands will be a thing of the past.

AA, you know what you did...said she was touring WDW topless :lmao: . You know you don't want to get Lainey mad, right?

Mighty quiet around here. I'll keep yakking!

Suzanne

HI gang, Jack says hi too

Tonights stress comes from not only being told that insurance won't cover the speech and that the school won't do it, but finding out that the OT said that Jarrod probably won't get OT services either since their program director doesn't like to have kids with 504's on their rosters! :furious: So Jack took this opportunity to visit tonight! :(

Anway, Suzanne thanks for letting us know where Pam was. I was beginning to think she had run off and left us!!

Tomorrow is our 100th day of school!! Only 82 more days left!! woohoo!! ouch that hurt the head!

Good night gang,
tara

Paula, I think you have it really figured out. Hope that DH can come around some day too.

Suzanne, great that you were able to meet up with the visiting Ya Yas! Thanks for the update.

Tara, ouch. Hope Jack leaves soon.

Shoveled snow for an hour just got back inside. Time to go to sleep now. Pleasant dreams everyone.

Bump from page three!

Off to get the hairs cut and colored. First time for professional coloring. My sister should count as a professional, but this is the first time I'm paying for the service.

Kevin stayed home with a nasty cough, so now he'll be sitting and waiting for me with the iPod. Today is new look day: my hair, then we pick up his new glasses.

Back later. Having him home puts a crimp in some of the errands I need to run. Oh well.

Suzanne

Tara, Abigail takes speech but we do not pay anything for it. We did have to pay for a series of tests for her eligibility, but once she met the criteria there were no more charges.

Since we go to a private school, I have to take her to the public school we are zoned for 2 days a week for a 30 minute speech session. Fortunately, they are at 7:30 so her grandmother picks her up and takes her to school and she is just a little late.

Welcome home Lainey and Suzanne! (Now get that image of me in sparkly boxers out of your minds :teeth: )

I will be leaving work early today and out of the office tomorrow so y'all have great weekends if I don't make it back until Monday!

Morning everyone...

Kimmar - the teens and their families have been in my thoughts - both of my kids lost classmates last year due to car accidents - one (Alyssa's friend) an accident another (Chris good friend) due to racing. In Chris case he was good friend with the victim and also friends with the driver who survived (paralized from the waist down). Such a shame ..and so sad that so many tragedie scould be prevented if only teenagers didn't think they were indestructible.

Oh Jack...I hear Alaska is lovely this time of year - give our Tara a break!!!!
Lily - you are sending the snow this way aren't you? I am hearing reports of heavy snow for Saturday.
Suzanne - sounds like you all had a great day (said with just a tad of jealousy)

Updates on my end....
Chris is going to a college open house next week with my brother in law and nephew - Universal Technical Institute - Auto shop teacher reccomended it for both if them - Chris is not sure that's what he wants but I think seeing it will be good.
Alyssa met with her advisor yesterday to discuss transferring - she told me that she loved the academics but get depressed and cries alot and just wants to be closer to home - says on the weekends she can't be with Ryan she would rather just be home with us. She plans on looking at other schools when she comes home this month. Unsure if she will apply where Ryan is.
Shopping for me today - going to buy "Elizabethtown" to send to Alyssa for Valentines day and possible "Bambi 2".

I'll check in later....

Hi y'all! I tried to post last night, but the board maint. kept me out

So I am back... I see lots to comment on, but I am so tired still... I will do that later!

I did have a blast and I will go through my pics shortly. Hopefully I got a few good ones in there :p

Seeing Suzanne & Nancy (and Dave who is a hoot) was wonderful and meeting Pam was great too! Trust me Pam, I won't be touching your beads anytime soon, however, I do believe you are a true woman :p

I loved Expedition Everest... three times in one morning was awesome! It is *the* best coaster at WDW in my opinion. And out of all the ones I rode in Orlando area (IoA included) it is by far the best. RnR now has been replaced ::yes::

I'll do more comments later. I have a nekkie front yard and I am not sure when the guys will be here to do the stump removal so I better get dressed.
