Evening, all!

I'm unemployed ( ;) ) for the next 48 hours, so Ed says. Feels weird, but I'm very calm about the whole thing-six years in one place can do that!

Meet with the new bosses tomorrow and we'll have five kids playing at the store while we big people go over stuff. It's cool to drive by daily and see the construction process. Ed got to see the location today. He knew where it was but not where in the center it'd be.

My boss and CM's were very nice. Surprised me with cake, balloons, flowers, wine and a book. No, I didn't cry (I did when I left Dulles, tho).

Yep an EIOP. I'll be back in the morning to say howdy hey.

Suzanne

Good morning everyone! Happy Easter Saturday!

Saved this from page three!

What is everyone doing for Easter tomorrow? That is if you celebrate it ;)

I'm going to my oldest sister's house. She's going non-traditional and serving chicken parm tomorrow, which is fine by me because I don't really care for turkey (I got food poisoning from turkey about 10 years ago and haven't enjoyed it since).

I'm going to see "Spamalot" this afternoon, and "Wicked" on Wednesday. I'm looking forward to seeing both of them.

Suzanne, good luck with the new job.

Later everyone.

JellyrollsKaren

Hello!

Karen, I think the pre holiday insanity has gotten to the yayas. I should be cleaning, instead I'm on here.

Suzanne

Thanks for the pic, Kimmar! I really needed a smile from this place.

Still fevered, but low grade, still stuffy, but things are moving around. Luis claims I can sing, so I hope that's true for tonight and tomorrow :p I honestly can't even hear myself!

Karen, tonight we sing at the Easter Vigil and then will be back at church tomorow. After church we are going to a friend's place to share Easter with them. It's mostly our church choir group, but they're pretty much like family to us :)
Oh and I know about the food poisoning thing. I still am wary of baked potatos and KFC particularly... terrible food poisoning from both of those. Corn chips (particularly store brand) and another place I do okay with now as I realize it was just my sensitive stomach reacting to the food, but I still think twice before eating.

Suzanne, I know what it's like to do job switches like that... though I guess I was from a paying job to non. I know you will do great and I am sure this will work out wonderfully for you! Just enjoy your 48 hours off :teeth:

I need to bake a cake, so I am off... I doubt I'll have much time to stop in between now and tomorrow evening, so I wish you all a great weekend and a very happy Easter :)

Morning Ya Yas!
:confused3
Elaine, don't give up. Never! :sunny:

Kimmar, thank you! :teeth:

JRKaren, sounds like a different tradition your DSis is starting. Nothing bad about that. Enjoy your visit. Let me know how you like the plays. We have tickets for Wicked here in July and then next year it was announcedd that Spamalot is coming this way.

So, Suzanne, how's unemployment feeling? Hope your new adventure start up goe smoothly. They are still building it? Whoa.

I had an early a.m. out with annual test stuff and just got back in time to clean up after Mom baked the cake. Timing is everything! Our day will be spent with my DSis at her house. The exchange student she hosted a couple of years ago is here and we are going to catch up with what he has been doing. I know he is going to college near DC somewhere for international business. He is from Brazil and a very fine young man. Sure to be successful. DS#2 is working so will not be with us and DS#1 said he doesn't want to go. I want to insist, but not sure about it. He is an adult and I guess should not be governed by his Mama.

I am taking the potato salad tomorrow, so will make that today. We will be having a ham here for the "sandwich" part of our later home dining and I must bake that. Since our tradition is not happening at our house tomorrow we have planned to make our usual stuff and stretch it out during the week. We like the leftover part of the tradition and that is why we will do this. It will be ham, potato salad, baked fresh sausage, lamb cake, daffodil cake (the angel food and pineapple one that I shared the recipe last year) Off I go...

Sorry I have been missing a couple of days :(
It has just been very hard to have no posts for 12 or more hours. I too, was about to give up....but decided it was too important and will try again. I will try to post more often, even if it is just recipes :teeth: haven't done that in a long time.
And the terrible weather has been depressing me. We went from mid 60s and sun on Tues. to 38 yesterday!! With rain, hail and a bit of snow thrown in. We NEVER get snow in April.....well until yesterday ;)
Today the sun is shining but it is still very cold.

Hope the Tara family felt good for the trip and are having fun.

Cakes a baking?? What kind are you all making? I cheated this year and bought a strawberry Boston cream pie. Looks yummy.

Suzanne...enjoy the unemployed days. Can't wait to hear how you like the new job.

We are headed out in a few to go look at bathtubs (how exciting  ), lunch and movie.
Chrisitn will be over later and we will finally watch Elizabethtown (nice BIG picuture there, Kimmar :teeth: ) ::yes::
She is spending the night. Hasn't done that since Christmas Eve. We're looking forward to it.

When I came out of the grocery store yesterday, what was waiting for me?? A flat tire  Took an hour at the tire store to get it repaired.

JRKaren sounds like some fun plays coming for you. Enjoy!!
Dinner sounds yummy to me. If Christin didn't insist on mashed potatoes and gravy, I would go for something nontraditional. And I do have a turkey breast in the freezer...so that is what we are doing.
Baskets will come out in the morning.

No real time to stay... but thanks Lily, just was feeling discouraged. Felt like if I was too busy, the place would die :(

I've skimmed, but I'll come back

Made another lemon cake... Luis' suggestion

I need to go back downstairs... just hanging out, but I don't want to leave Luis for too long

see ya!

Well the bakery is done. I've got a ham in the oven. Will slice it tonight. I need the room in the refrig to put the potato salad so will cut up the ham and stack it. Guys will like that better...easy access!

Nancy, sorry about the gloom. Sunshine to ya :sunny: Enjoy the rest of the day

Elaine, have fun singing. Yum on the cake.

DH just walked in the door. He has had one very bad week. Working 16+ hours since Monday...I get to visit, but I know he will nod off soon as we finish dinner if he doesn't fall in his food like the little kids when they are tired.

Been a busy couple days. Weather has been beautiful and we all had a day off yesterday. :bounce: Got the van aligned, and did some shopping, then visited with Junior's family from NY that came for Easter, then went to the Drive-In. Today I got up early and got my nails done, then we did some more shopping :teeth: and I have an appt. in about 1/2 an hour to get my hairs done. Cut & color. :)

JRKaren, enjoy those shows. I would love to see Wicked. We are going to Junior's aunt's house after church tomorrow for dinner. We'll be doing a Puerto Rican style Easter this year. :teeth:

Elaine, hope the fever and voice is OK.

Suzanne, enjoy unemployment. ;) :teeth:

Nancy, boo on the snow. What movie are ya seeing?

Lily, are you enjoying the nice weather? :sunny:

Howdy.

Been a run errands kind of day. As soon as we got out of the house and on the way to the new store (yep, Lily, building it-new strip mall is done, now the contractors are finishing to our specs) got a call from the boss lady. Detoured and got lunch, not realizing they were going to take us, lol!

It's all good...got to see what boss man's vision is, then we sat at one of our favorite local restaurants and they ate while we all yakked and yakked. Very cool and laid back. I think I could get used to this!

Looks like the easter bunny will forget bunnies this year. The inlaws are also bailing because of Kev and I dealing with bronchitis. So we're in for a low key kinda day, woohoo! Tempted to cut the prime rib in half and still make some tomorrow.

Now that we won't have company, thinking of making the pineapple upside down cake to enjoy tonight! :)

We saw Take the Lead. We liked it....like so many similar ones ;)
Fun though.
Stocked up on Cadbury minis to make it through the year.
Christin will arrive in about 15 minutes.....we're having a pajama party later to watch the movie.
She is bringing Mingo with her.
I was going to post my new addition.....but his picture is on the new camera and I haven't loaded any software on yet.
Ohhh.....lights are flicking.
Wish us luck we don't lose power at least until after our PPV is over....I already paid for it!!

Suzanne, sorry about the downsizing kind of Easter. Get well wishes to all.

Nancy, enjoy your jammie party. How lovely. Hope you have electricity for it.

Sherry, glad you were enjoying the day and visit. Haven't had much outdoor time today sad to say. Been doing kitchen chores. What do you do for the style of Easter you will be doing? I'm not in any way clued in to it.

Ahhh watching the Real 10 Commandments tonight. Love this version better than the new/improved? version.

Ham is "resting" so is DH. Will slice it soon. Guys have already taste tested and proclaimed all is well.

While I am up... just a quick hi to say Happy Easter to all :)

My voice did make it, though I can't talk, I can apparently still sing. Wish my hearing would come back to normal too... but meh, one service tomorrow which isn't a huge deal and I am DONE!

:wave2:

Happy Easter, Ya Ya's!!

Elaine, hope the hearing comes back to normal.

Nancy, glad you enjoyed Take The Lead. :) Hope the electricity stayed on for you.

Lily, just PR food, that is all. :teeth: Ham, Pork, rice & beans, etc. :teeth:

Happy Easter Ya Yas!

Sherry, thanks for the info. I thought it might be some sort of special tradition of food combination.

Nancy, hope you had electricity and the pj party was fun. I don't get to do that. My babies just roll their eyes when I mention special time.

Suzanne, hope your pinapple upside down turned out and that all are feeling better.

Elaine, one more seems like it would be doable. Hope it is better today.

Did the Easter Bunny stop at everyone's house?

We'll be heading to my sister for the afternoon.

Enjoy,

:sunny:

Happy Easter!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.
Food everyone is having sounds yummy ::yes::

The power did stay on. We watched Elizabethtown, ate popcorn and mint Dibs.
Mingo and Lily wore their pjs also and are sleeping with Christin. The TV was still going in their room when I went to bed, so they may have had an all night sleep over ;)

Elaine, glad you made it through yesterday. Good luck today and hope you feel better.

How you feeling Suzanne? Better I hope.

Easter Bunny has been here :bounce: But no one else is up yer :( So I wait.
Cinnamon rolls are about ready to go into the oven.

Happy Easter, Everyone!

Nice vegging day. My honey is so sweet. I couldn't sleep laying down, so he came out on the couch and became my pillow so I could sleep sitting up.

Vegging today. I was going to make ambrosia salad, then I found out we don't have sour cream. It may involve a run to a store, haven't decided yet.

Hope everyone has fun with their families.

Sherry, food sounds yummy.

Nancy, they pulled an all nighter, eh?

Lily, skipped the cake, lol. Bronchitis is very well known in these parts, so we don't make a big deal about it-just get into the doctor and tell him what it is and what works! :) I have to break in a new GP tomorrow. I'm hoping that he'll be like every other one, where I call and triage myself and then calls in the script!

Suzanne

Well -it's obvious that I've been missing for the past 2 weeks........ I've been lurking and it's been a really hard and tough time at my house.

Two weeks ago tonight my husband and his friend were coming back from the lake. DH was in his pick-up, towing his boat behind him. An hour from home, an 89 yr. old man ran a stop sign, and apparently hit the gas pedal instead of the brake and shot across 4 lanes of traffic. You can probably guess where this is leading to..... The passenger side of the man's car hit my DH's front end of the truck. DH's truck and boat flipped, the truck landed on the driver's side and skidded down the road a bit, the boat landed upside down.

I thank God that DH and his friend were not hurt (other than some pulled muscles in DH's lower back that he's being treated for.) Unfortunately and tragically, the older man died. :guilty: It was totally 100% the other man's fault - but that really doesn't do much for my DH. He is overwhelmed with grief and profound sorrow - which can be expected.

I have been pouring every ounce of myself into being there for him, holding him, comforting him, helping to get the insurance settlement process speeded up, etc.

While we do not know why DH had to be in that spot at the moment - I do know that we were given a miracle by having him come through the accident alive. I thank God every day for that. This has made us realize just how much we love and need each other.

We are heading out to both sets of parents today. I will check back later and try to post more frequently.

Happy Easter to everyone.
