I think the whole time change thing varies with where you live... we live far enough north and west here that I hate the summer one. Light until 10 PM isn't good... at least I don't like it. Then again it is dark way too early in the fall. I guess I wish they flipped them ;)

LOL...I think I am a bit father north and west than you are ;)
I don't mind it light until 10...HATE it dark at 4:00. My body says bedtime when it gets dark

We'll see on the play...never heard of this one.

Oh I know that Nancy, I meant location in the time zone itself. I honestly wish we wouldn't do DST. When you go to bed at 10:00 PM it really sucks. I can see why Indiana won't do DST. I guess I am glad I am not as north as you though... less sun in the winter would kill me. It isn't really dark here until 5 PM in the winter. Good enough for me ;) Though I think you would get more light in the summer than us as well. At least we don't live so far north that it is day light at 4 am

I know I am odd, I just love wandering around at night... kind of hard when it doesn't get dark enough early enough. Once in a while we will skip fireworks on the 4th because Luis has to get up early and they don't start here until 10 PM :(

Uploading pics, then nap, then catch up... I hope

:grouphug: Suzanne. My heart is with you.

DS got his internet up this morning - but DD just tried to upload the new website content and all she gets is a server error. Plus - it stuck the JUNE issue back up on the web and deleted the Oct. one. :confused3 Methinks the Halloween Gremlins are out in full force. :badpc:

Of course Tech Support is gone for the weekend. And DD heads back to college tonight. I don't think I have to tell anyone that my headache is back. :guilty:

DS is selling candy bars for his Jazz Band trip to NYC next Spring - I have 4 boxes -- 144 candy bars in my house. I think I will go eat them all.

Hey All,

Suzanne I am so sorry to hear about your mom. You will be in my prayers.

We still dont have power but our church does so dh charged up the laptop. I have to say that has to be the scarriest thing I have ever been through. Our entire county looks like a bomb went off in it. Whats irking a lot of us in Broward is the national news is showing mainly Miami which didnt get it near as badly as Broward. Getting ice and water has been tough at best. We are not being serviced near as well as the other counties by Fema. Gas is almost impossible to get with all the power out. I have been out of work for a week and there is still no power to our building nor water so I dont know when I will be back to work. The kids are out of school until at least Tuesday if not longer. We have been busying ourselves working at the feeding program at our church. If you saw the newscast of the feeding program at the chuch in Pompano that Pres and Gov Bush went to that was us. What a shock that was. We are all coping fairly well We are a kinda suffering from weird dreams and such since the storm so we arent sleeping very welll. We are all really tired. The kids are getting used to having no power but they kinda have no choice as we were told it could be upwards of four weeks before all power is restored. It will take longer than that to get Broward back to anything near what it was before. There are no working traffic signals anywhere in the county so driving is interesting. Thankfully people are starting to get the hang of four way stops. As RM said the electrical stack was torn off the back of the house and broken in half so we still dont know if when the power comes back on if we will have power. Dh said he thought the wires looked okay but we have to have them looked at this week. Hopefully the man from church will be able to just take a looksee for us. Im just worried about a fire should the power come back on.
Well dh and the kids and I need to get back to the feeding program. Thank od for the Southern Baptist Disaster Organization. I dont know what the people in that area would have done without them as they are the ones going all the cooking for the feeding program and for the Red Cross.

Please keep good thoughts for all of us in Broward County because within the van of several hours all of our lives changed dramatically and will be for a very long time to come.

Hugs to All!! :grouphug:

JUst a quick hello - sending prayers, hugs and support to Suzanne and family on the loss of her mom and to Karen and her family for "weathering the storm".

 to all.....

Forgot that I never posted recipes ...PM me if you want them......

:grouphug: ,

Karen, hang in there. I honestly haven't seen anything on the news about the storm really. Then again I haven't been watching the news much either  I hope everything will be fixed & cleaned up before you know it.

:wave2: Hi Paula! I must have missed it... what recipes do you have to share?

I think I'll pass on sharing costume party pics... a bunch of reasons why as well ;) but here are wedding pics.

First ones were taken at my house between the ceremony & reception. The others were taken at the recption. Not the best shots of any of us... people kept getting in the way, flashes from other cameras screwed with lighting, dark of course & we were laughing so hard most of the time that none of us have the best looks on our faces ;) But here they are

the real wedding pics

REcipes that I have to share:

Sour cream cinnamon muffins (from a B&B that I stayed at in CT)
Carrot cake cookies (from the Martha Stewart site)
Mocha Pound cake (family favorite)

Oh, those recipes... if I get them, I will make them and eat them... better not... especially since I was told I have to bake more chocolate chip cookies for Saturday with friends :p

btw, sorry about that bad link before... for whatever reason imagestation pointed to a different link (I swear I copied my wedding pics)

Sending prayers to Suzanne and family. It is so difficult to go through the loss of a parent.

Karne, saying prayers for you and all in the mess over there.

I'm kinda having my own issues. Dealing with the fact that DH will be heading out Wednesday to New Orleans. They are still w/o so much. He will only be there for 10 days. I know he is helping others, but I am very sad that he is leaving me/us.

Hi all... back from church... going to bed...

Glad the play was good, Nancy!

That was a pretty darn good ketchup there ::yes::

Lily, I can imagine how hard that would be. I'll keep him in my prayers. I am sure he'll be fine!

I'll see y'all in the morning!

Suzanne, sorry about your mom. If there is anything I can do, let me know.

JellyrollsKaren

Happy Halloween! :)

Suzanne, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. :( My prayers are with you.

Lily, for you. I'm sure Ted will be just fine. I can understand your worries, though.

Boo at the Zoo was fun last night. And we had decent weather, so that was good.

Today is my goblin, Jared's, 12th b-day!! :) :bounce:

Morning all!

Happy Birthday to Jared!!!! :bday:

Ignore this vent if you like Halloween ;)
I am just sick to death of it right now! I do not like scary, ghosts, goblins, gore, spiders or anything else they use to try to freak you out about Halloween. I do enjoy watching people dress up in fun outfits and I like doing that myself. Anytime the TV was on, it was loaded with the stupid scary movies that drive me crazy. Yes, I am grumpy but I was just sent a link that some people thought funny that scared the living daylights out of me. Maybe I am happy now that I can go with a group of friends tonight and get away from it all! Right now I wish it had kept its religious reasons more than it has! At least then I wouldn't be scared to death or seeing spiders every single time I close my eyes!

Okay Halloween Scrooge here is done!

Lily...hugs to you. Tell our TeddyBear to be careful out there!!

Sherry...happy birthday Jared!!! Glad you all had fun at the zoo!!

Elaine...I know what you mean about the scary movies on tv. That's why my tv stayed on CNN all weekend (either that or Food TV). I hope you can sleep tonight!!

Have a good one all!
tara

Happy Halloween!!

Sorry, girls, I LOVE scary movies ::yes:: (Actually hard to find one I find really "scary" ). I find CNN MUCH scarier ;) )

Lots to do today and have to leave early to pick up Dave and head to Christin's house for trick-or-treating.

 Lily

:bday: Jared!! :cake:

Tara, glad I am not the only one. I do know how much Nancy loves her scary movies!!!

Take pics tonight Nancy ::yes::

I admit I love the fun parts of trick or treating... I love dressing up and I find some parts fun. There are just some things that grate on me the same way some things about Christmas do. And since I'd bore y'all, I'll hush.

Oh and Nancy, I find CNN to be far scarier most of the time than the movies as well :rotfl:
(I laugh, but it is true!!!!!)

Elaine,
Was it the ghost and car one?? That one got me, too! :earseek:

Me, three! Me, three!! I HATE anything scary, gory, bloody! :guilty: (Well - except for Roadkill! )

Happy Birthday, Jared! pirate:

Yeah, Nancy - can't wait to see pics!! I bet the costume turned out great!! :goodvibes

Tiara - pics, please of your little goblins as well! :)

Happy birthday Jarred! :bounce: :cool1:

And thanks for the wishes for Lela; she had a great day.

BTW, of course I sparkled in chat Pam..I was the new guy so I was all new and sparkly.
