Quiet night here...

morning all! I think I will be baking cookies for a party tonight in a short while. I think I'm out of butter so I better get that

Suzanne, I am sorry the steak was gone. We don't even have any corn or cheese biscuits left over  I hope that Neil is feeling better and I hope work is a good distraction for you

Promised Mammoth Cave photo from a couple of years ago:

It was a bit "brisk" that day. Note to self. Don't have Mammoth Cave DISmeet in January.

John that is an awesome pic there!!!! And yes, going to Mammoth Cave in Jan wouldn't be my ultimate pick for a meet either :p Heck, we had a trip to Hocking Hills in January and there were some awesome looking ice "formations" but if we hadn't had the cabin, I doubt we would've been as happy there ;)

Oh Lily, I remembered to wave ;)

*sigh* I suppose I need to get up and start baking :)

One more picture of the cave, this time with people (DD Sarah, DW Sue, DS James):

And a lovely  family photo:

There was a party last night?????? :confused3

Nancy, the party was moved to a different venue I think ;)

John, I like that family pic. You look very nice with a fuzzy face ::yes::

Oh that reminds me... my hubby loves me so much he is growing his goatee back for me

And now I *AM* getting up to get ready to bake cookies

I don't like to party away from home ;) Besides that is a non-Yaya party
I just sat here by myself for awhile last night and played games.

Morning All,

Wicked flooding here so youngest ds and I are stuck in the house today. Eldest ds went to work with dad who had to work because he took off yesterday. Eldest ds has a project due and dh thought he could work from there without the distractions that are at the house...ya know tv, gamecube, little brother, etc..... LOL! I know exactly how bad the flooding was because stupid me decided to go to the store to get stuff for breakfast at about 4 AM. I didnt realize the storms had been as bad as they were and still dont know how I got to and from the store without flooding out the car. I got caught in a nasty squall line too while out. One of those cases where you just had to keep going because you couldnt turn back. Dh said the flooding is still bad but he got to work okay because he has the SUV which is much higher than my car.

Suzanne I am so glad to hear you have all your hurricane stuff at the ready should you need it. Im so sorry to hear that Neil is sick. I hope work is a good diversion for you today.

Sherry congrats on winning!

John good luck on winning the Air Trans tickets!

Elaine I think I might just bake some cookies too. I have a ton of dough from ds's fundraiser LOL.

Well I guess I better sit down and do yuccky bills. BLECH!!! I will check in laters.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Good morning.
What happened to that planned party last night? ;)

Well dang it, Nancy!
:guilty:

I looked in here a couple of times last night and couldn't find anyone!

So I went down the street! Sorry!! :grouphug:

Morning.

Taking the boys out for some lunch in a few, but figured I'd pop in and say 'hey'.

Went looking for news whether a friend and his wife had their second child yet, and realized "duh, I can listen to his live365 channel-I have broadband". So I've been doing that while blogging and catching up on email.

BTW, if you join classmates, they apparently set your account up for automatic renewal-don't even tell you this when they send you an email that your time's almost up. I got back in touch with the one person I joined to email, so I didn't need the account anymore. Lesson learned.

Nancy, I was looking for the party, too, but the week had caught up to me, logged off at midnight when I usually can be found up until 1 or 2 on a Friday night.

Suzanne

Morning... :sunny:

Cool cave pics!!

Red Hat Nancy, it sounds like you had a lovely day! :)

Enjoy the dive tomorrow Lily... wave as you go by
She's diving in the Tedsbird?! That's so cool! Do the flippers go on all four tires or just the back two?

Congrats to Sherry for Boo Zoo tickets! Halloween at a zoo!? Okay that would be so fun!!

Jane Eyre! I loved that book!!

Suzanne, how is Neil feeling?

Cam spent his first night on the futon. Eeep! I hope it was comfortable enough for him. :worried: We bought the upgraded mattress but but... I'm still sort've skeered he won't like it.

Goatee Elaine? Yay Luis! Pictures? ;)

No non YaYa parties for Nancy. I'll stay here and hang with ya.

good morning gang!

I went looking for the party but couldn't find it here so went to some other websites looking for a party! Then I come back today to find one right under my nose! Damn, if the thing weren't so darn big!!

Suzanne...glad the kids did well in school...have a good lunch.

So I never came back last night to tell of my great shopping adventure. I don't do much retail therapy anymore but last night I had to.
(I'm going to a wedding this evening....on a deck....by the ocean  ...let's just say I'm wearing my life vest the whole time! ) anyway, so we went to Kohl's cuz we thought they had those ugly crocs. They didn't but I found a pair of 14 kt. gold hoop earrings that were originally $80 and got them for $25. then I found outfits for the kids' christmas pictures and got two sweaters, a pair of pants, and two turtlenecks for $30!! I was :Pinkbounc I wanted a dress for the wedding but they don't carry dresses. So I guess I just have to wear something in my closet...yuck! Oh well!! We had a good time. Now I just have to find something that I can wear. I'm thinking a nice black garbage bag with with a big twine belt. That otta cover it :teeth:!!!!

Back to you all later!!
tara

Always remember to tote a cup of toddlers preferred beverage with you on all outings. Because allowing said toddler to drink the coffee/chocolate drink of yours will result in a materials spill which will require not only the hazmat unit but also the scrubbing of all surfaces related to said child!!!

If you are having trouble visualizing this...I believe there was a scene Mr. Mom of dad wearing a gas mask and holding the child out from him about 4 feet!! :rotfl:

Lesson learned.....the hard way!

Sounds like a lot of us missed the party last night ;)
I don't mind sitting home alone at night ;) Kind of used to it.

Yep....red hats :teeth: We named ourselves the Red Hot Girlfriendz :rotfl:
It did help the kiosk accousters to remember us and not ask us every time we walked by....only about every other time

Tara.....I love my ugly Crocs ::yes::
Good luck on the deck. That will be a bit scary for you, I would think. Just try not to dwell on it and have a good time.
I got a great shopping deal yesterday too. Christin's Christmas present....she wants a KitchenAid stand mixer. So....just happen into the store. It was on sale for half price. And I had a 20% off coupon :teeth: So the $400 item cost $160 ::yes:: And I got the last one.
Now her mixer will be better than mine

Suzanne....I can imagine the week you've had. Hope Neil is feeling better.

No heat on here yet!! :sunny: But is is getting close. Yesterday was gorgeous! mid 60s, sun shining. Today is looking the same.
I need to sew  But I need to go to the photo place and so we are doing the lunch movie things today.

About to start in on the cookies. I admit I didn't stay up too late due ot my neck & back, but no one popped in here so I went down the street as well ;) I suppose had I stayed up later I might hve found a couple more people :p

Karen, stay safe! Enjoy baking cookies though. I admit mine will be scratch again though so I had better start softening butter and all that ;)

Suzanne, somehow I am glad I never paid for that one before. My HS has a website with people's e-mails on it that they keep track of.

Kimmie, no current pics of Luis with a goatee. He had one from about Thanksgiving 2003-2004. He shaved it last year so I was heart broken. He promised to try growing it again. Just started on Tuesday. I can see it but it's thin. I'm sure by the time the month is over it will look much better :)
I'd show you old pics, but imagestation is being a PITA

Tara, yay on your Kohl's finds! I admit I don't like the lack of selection of clothes at our Kohl's now, but sounds like you got some good things! I swear I only go to Macy's if I need a dress now. Only place I have luck at. Oh wait, I guess I do go to Loft and White House/Black Market. It's getting harder for me to find dresses that work for me.

Morning Sherry!

Great find on that mixer, Nancy!!! Oh and here's the funny thing, I think Crocs look so cute... I just hate how they feel on! Too wide and not comfy at all. I'm the weird one for sure :p

Well I need to do cookies, so I better fly!

See ya!

Just got the official word. Schools are closed on Monday. Ive been kinda waiting to see what they would do. As far as I know I will not be at work on Monday as they are forcasting Wilma to hit here that day. We were told a bit ago that even if this storm hits farther up the coast than where they are projecting we will be on the dirty side of the storm so we will get the nasty part. We cant take much more rain in our area though. Thankfully our street isnt flooding but the rest of the roads are. They just showed our area on TV and water is actually starting to go close to peoples homes just from the storms we had from the feeder bands last night. They expect hurricane watches to go up for us sometime this afternoon. I really hate this and I am so over this happening so many times in the past two years. I have disliked living in Florida for a few years now but I am to the point now that I hate it. Unfortunately we are stuck here because of housing costs and dh's job.

Nancy what a good deal you got on that mixer!

Cookies are done? Grab 'em while you can :p

I'm tired though... might nap before the party, though I should shower soon.

Karen, hope it won't be too bad during the storm. At least it sounds like she's weaker than feared.

thanks for the cookies, but I picked up a cannoli at Publix when we went grocery shopping.

Definitely heading over to the hospital when I get off of work tonight. Mom's been put on morphine for the pain. She was hallucinating again last night, and saw a bottle of Johnny Walker Black on her nightstand and commented on it. That was my dad's drink when he was a drinking man, and made us feel like the people who are on the other side are in the room to 'help' Mom.

I'll check back in when I can, if not, I'll probably relay the information to Liz.

Suzanne

Cannoli is a great alternative to cookies! Sounds very good actually!

And  I will keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers... I can understand what you mean about those "helping"

I'm about to get ready for the party. I figured this was one of the best excuses I've had in a long time. My friend Rochene was finally able to get her citizenship into the USA. She will hopefully be able to bring her husband here legally by summer of next year. I couldn't imagine living year after year away from him and seeing him only here and there throughout the year. Just no clue what I want to wear yet. Jeans and.... well something.
