Elaine, glad your kitty baby is better for sure. I would love a kitty baby. Won't happen as I've said b4...allergies. sigh

Going to sleep so I can get myself up and out early for my long trek. Supposed to do 9 miles.

Good night Ya Yas!

Lily, take allergy meds and you can play with my kitty baby for a while. I know probably not good enough! I did get lucky with my two babies. They are sweeties and wouldn't trade them for the world!!!! GOod luck with the long trek!

Yep, I can't sleep... I think I am going to sign off now and then read a while. See y'all later!

Good morning! Getting ready for bed here, but wanted to report that I've heard from Tara and she and Astrid have arrived safely! Comedy of errors finding her way north, but I'll let her tell the story :teeth: I guess some people just prefer the scenic route!!

Too tired to do a proper ketchup, but I'll leave a :grouphug: for ya'll! Nighty-night!

Why do I have a feeling it is going to be a quiet weekend here with so many Ya Yas busy and out of town? ;)

Glad to hear that Tara and Astrid made it safely :)

Morning all! Lazy day for me! I have nothing really I have to do today which is so nice! I actually halfway don't know what to do with myself!

Enjoy the day all!!!

Morning, all.

Okay, talked with my eldest sister, and now what I've suspected has been confirmed. Wish I could take time off for this-but finances say no way.

Got a kinda hellish schedule the next few days-close tonight, close tomorrow, open Monday (then off to Mom's to see my youngest sister for a bit). Next day off is Wednesday.

Took the boys for ice cream last night, and ended up talking to my rambling sister the whole time. I love how some siblings seem to think that we all look to them for advice and access to my mom  . I had to tell her that I never ever used her as a gatekeeper, and never will. Oy.

Started a blog. Heather suggested it months ago-and I never got around to it. Now I think it will be my therapy. I love to write, so it makes sense.

Chat at you later. Does anyone have bail money set for Tara and Bethie? I hope Bethie takes Tara over to Wegman's for lunch!

Suzanne

Hi Ya Yas!

I'm back, coffee and oatmeal refreshed.

Bethie, thanks for letting us know that the traveling crew has arrived. Scenic route, well, I guess that would be enjoyable. We usually do the dumpster touring in our family.

Suzanne, sorry about your sibling struggles. I wish you the strength to survive it all.

Elaine, getting bored already? Come on over and play. I don't want to work.

I did 9.5 miles started out later than I have been when I meet up with the group, I am going to miss that our group obligation is over and today I was all alone. Saw tons of birdies making lots of noise in the tree tops gathering to move on their migration path, many deer, squirrels, chipmonks, I am at peace. Now to hit the grind...

Suzanne, good luck with your busy schedule... I feel for you with your sibling

Lily, I love walking/biking/running among nature. Just seeing cute little animals all makes it worth it.

Not bored so far ;) But been watching the WV vs VT came... unfortunately WV isn't beating Virginia yet. Will do some kitchen cleaning in a while :)

Hey All,

Just got back from Comcast Cares at my eldests school. I thought it was very neat that my dh's company had chosen my eldest school to work on. We were there from 8:30 to about 1:00 and they got everything done at the school that needed to be done. Painting, planting, etc.... I got relegated to helping the little ones with arts and crafts projects while their parents worked. Dh was adamant that I not do any physical labor due to the arthritis and fibromyagia. I had a great time. We had really awesome kids and I met a lot of great people from where dh works. Dh was actually able to help the IB Coordinator get in touch with the right person to get the cable put back into the fitness center. I got to talk with the principal and the IB Coordinator for quite a bit and we had a nice conversation. My dh, eldest son, and eldest sons friend worked their tails off with about 100 other volunteers. My eldest also gets four hours of community service for this which will go a long way to making the 30 hours he needs every year. The school looked pretty good before but it now looks AWESOME and also now has high speed cable in the library for the kids to use. Whats also neat is dh talked to the community service coordinator at his work and she is very interested in taking out a full page ad in the symphony journal and possibly video spots for the Symphony my eldest is in! Just have to talk to the head of the symphony on Monday to see what kinds of things she would want to do and then get that information and a list of what the symphony does for the children to the community service coordinator. It really was a pretty awesome morning!

HUGS and PRAYERS for everyone who needs them. I have names jotted down. Although I havent been able to do ketchups or post much I have been reading when I can and taking notes on who needs what and saying prayers for all that need them.

Well Im gonna go lay down. I didnt sleep really well last night so Im tired today.

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

Cleaning and watching football... Alan your team had better NOT lose this one! We're rooting for 'Bama on this game!

Karen, what is an IB coordinator? Sounds like a nice day in general though

Alan - great pic! Sounds like you had a fun time!! :) (Hey, our YaYa Bother is now a famous actor!!) :Pinkbounc

Karen - glad everything went well at the school!

Elaine - I should be cleaing, but I'm not. I am doing laundry, though, and cooking. Does that count for something? And DD, DS, and I did a mall run and picked up DS's trombone. Can you believe that it cost $129.00 to repair his trombone? It was out for repairs for 6 WEEKS! Had to go to Georgia! The lady said they had never seen a trombone broke like my son's in 28 years of business! :earseek: He broke a huge part of the mouthpiece - pulled the whole thing up!

First day of archery season here.....

Yikes sorry Elaine. She is the International Baccalauret Program Coordinator. Its the program my eldest was accepted into for middle school. I always thought she was a little standoffish but she is actually a very very nice lady, we really got to talk today and it was really nice. She has a bad knee and I was so worried about her getting knocked over when everyone was going to get lunch. I was so glad that dh was able to put her in touch with the person that would get the cable back into the fitness room. Its been something she has been wanting to do since they revamped that room and now it will get done. I talked with the principal for about ten minutes. He is a very warm, down to earth man who loves the kids and loves being involved with them. Ds has mentioned before how he sees the principal all over the school all the time and I told the principal about that and how nice I thought that was. When I went to school you never saw the principal. We even mentioned a different fundraiser to him and he was very receptive and wanted ds to bring the information in to him as soon as we got it from my youngests ds's school. I really love the school ds is going to. All the staff I have met have been wonderful, the campus is safe and secure, the principal is very involved. I am so happy he was accepted into that magnet program.

:wave2:
HOme and tired.
Weather was terrible!! Couldn't see the mountain. Heard it had been steaming a few days ago.
Did manage to shop though.....and saw some amazing film clips of the eruption!

Not going to ketchup :p
Hope the scrappers are having fun.

Karen I did get your DS some info. I will get it in the mail next week.

Pam, all that you did certainly does count for a lot!!!! Sorry about the expense with the repairs though. I have an old baritone I am working on and sure wish I could find a tool to take most of the dings & dents out myself!

Thanks Karen, wouldn't have figured that out :p ANd I swear with all I hear from kids lately, I wonder if I'll be able to handle all that goes on in schools!

Welcome back Nancy! Didn't expect you back tonight... sorry teh weather sucked though :(

Going to read for a while and head to bed. Still a little sleepy here today.

HI all ......still haven't done my ketchup reading.....

Pretty quiet here - Alyssa is at Ryans for the night (did I mention how nice it is to have her home??) - Chris is at the Homecoming Dance...Hubby left this morning for New York - salmon fishing for the week.

I've got a little bit of "back from vacation blues" - already looking into Food and Wine Festival info - going to try to talk hubby in the 2 of us going next year - I think we would have a great time.

Small trip report.....flight - great - Disney Magical Express - great also!!
Food: 1st time eating at 3 different places - Artists Point - good food - not so goood service - Chefs de France - excellent food - Tony's Town Square - good food - so-so service.
We spent 1 day at Epcot and 1 day at Magic Kingdom.
LOVED - Soarin'
Went on Small World - I am fulfilled - haha
No lines for any of the rides.
Illuminations - great as usual.
Missed Magic Kingdom fireworks due to a late dinner.
Really - really wanted one of those "hunormous" cinnamon rolls at Main Street bakery but got a criossant and jam instead.
Staying at Wilderness Lodge was such a treat - great to take the boat to Magic Kingdom and at nights end at Epcot and DTD - loved not having to hike to the last bus stop for All Stars!!!
Didn't buy much - let's see - for me "2005" coffee mug and Christmas ornamant and a cute fleece shirt at Wilderness Lodge Gift Shop - for Jeffrey a beer glass from Germany and a box of Pub beer coasters - England. For Alyssa - cute t-shirt that just came out - with the new (not sure how to explain this) big-headed baby characters - Pooh with his honey jar and it says "I love carbs" - also got her some 1-toe socks (for flip flops) at the Japanese Pavilion - for Chris - WDW nonpariels and Donald Duck boxers (they say "Crabby but Loveable") and for Ryan WDW baseball themed shirt from the Emporium.

Hugs - good thoughts and prayers all around......

Yep....2 days, 1 night.
Dave had a good rest....that's what counts. We caught one glimpse of the crater through the fog.
And...I leave again Thursday evening

Glad you had a good time, Paula.

I am so tired I am going to be already

Elaine school sure is different than when I went to school. Much tougher now especially the program my son is in. In fact I just got finished typing out a note to one teacher about things dh and I dont understand about his grade in one particular class and one to all the teachers regarding the plan the ESE specialist and I devised on Friday to get him more organized. Eldest ds and I just redid his entire binder and backpack, bought special paper that wont rip out, redid all the tabs for the classes, put reinforcements on all the papers that were falling out etc..... His backpack looks awesome and organized now. I just hope it stays that way. His grades arent bad but he is capable of so much more if we could just get him to organize himself a bit more and get him to get assignments written into his agenda so that he doesnt forget to do them or remember to do them 5 minutes before bedtime.

Nancy I am so sorry the weather was so bad. Thank you so much for picking up information for ds. He will absolutely LOVE it!!!

Speaking of tired I am wiped out and am going to hit the hay. Sleep well everyone!

HUGS TO ALL!!! :grouphug:

What a perfectly wonderful day I've had today!! I left Tara and Astrid, still busy cropping at the store, where we've had so much fun all day. It was an absolute blast, as you can see.
Clockwise, we have me in the tie-die T-shirt, Tara, Tara's friend Astrid, and Pam with her back to the camera. Pam is a local, who goes by pammy jo here on the DIS.
Morning Crop.jpg

Later on in the afternoon, everybody had shown up and was hard at work. Dave came to the store to visit, then took orders and went to our favorite sub place to pick up lunch for us all! This picture is during the evening crop, the place is full and we are all in full swing! We had me, Tara, Astrid, Jon, a local woman whose name I missed  , my friend Maggie, Yvonne, Valerie and Pam. It may be trite, but it's the absolute truth--a good time was had by all!

My sweet DH went to the candy store for me last night while I was working and picked up all green M&Ms for me! So we had color-appropriate chocolate for the Dissers--after all, we all know scrapping can't really be accomplished without chocolate! I made Magic Mickey Wands for everyone as a "party favor" to go along with their goodie bags.

Really tired puppy here, now. Our bell choir is ringing at the 9AM service tomorrow, then we are having a special Open House at the store in the afternoon, so I need to get some sleep. Hope ya'll have a good evening and a great night! Sleep well!! :grouphug:

good evening all!! I am here in the internet room of the hotel. Its free even :cool1:  We are havintg a blast. I left a message on Beth's vm just after she left about how much money I spent!! Its a good thing I don't have a dh to report back to on the money I spent!!

So here is our story:
A Comedy of Errors best Told in Three Acts
Act One We planned to leave at 6 but Astrid was stuck at school late so we decided to leave at 615. I was a few minutes late and then decided I had to have a Star Bucks carmel (double shot) frappaccino in the gallon size bucket.

We actually hit the road at 703! Traffic had finally started moving so we didn't hit the delays that had happened earlier (we decided we would create our own delays :teeth: ) We drove just fine for the first hour and a half, we were pretty darn confident in our traveling abilities. I found the 95 to washington and we were well on our way when Astrid said "Hey we need to go thatta way!" oops! I missed the 295 by pass. How could I see it, I had one hand full of a gallon iced coffee and the other was flapping in the air as I talked! No problem I say, we can take the scenic route through downtown Richmond on 95.

We were driving and talking so it was no big deal. Well, Astrid sees a sign that says "295 to Charlottesville to 64" Go that way she says! zipping across three lanes and managing to avoid the semi in my way we hit the exit....dum da dum dum...Hey, I say, this doesn't look quite right. Oh @#$% we are going completely west (last time I had checked DC was north!...but then again I failed geography...I couldn't even find my way to take the damn test). Uh! How do I get off this thing and get back!

I do the only logical thing...I take the next turn on to a road that *looks* like it might go someplace I want to go. uh....crap....now where are we going (some placed called Chesterfield). so I grab the phone, hit speed dial, and yell mommy!!!!!!!!!!!!!She gets the map and says stay where you are...you can never return the way you came. So we spend the next 35 minutes taking the long way around Richmond. ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the way around Richmond. Suddenly I see a building and whoop with glee, "Hey Astrid....we saw that same building an hour ago!! WE are on the right road finally!" yes my friends, we made one giant loop around our capital city and ended up right back to where we first screwed up!! The next hour was spent chanting "Stay on 95, Stay on 95, Stay on 95"

Act Two Our second adventure was getting to sterling. I'll do the short version.
Where's 66 West? Don't see it, but find 267. Take 267, ask toll booth operator how to get to 66 west...she says.."get off here do u-turn, pay toll again, you'll see it".....get off, u-turn, pay toll, see.....66EAST oh @#$% times 2. Wrong way. Call Bethi HELP! Beth we are lost!!again She gives directions...get on 267 the other way and go until you see the signs!! :teeth: Do another u turn and suddenly we're on 66 West   (<- that's what Astrid and I looked like). So we drove chanting "66 West, 66 West"....we finally arrived at the hotel at 12:30am!! ugh! We could hae been clear to NYC after all that time! (for those of you time challenged that's 5.5 hours to go less than 4 hours! :rotfl:

Act Three Then the comedy of errors continued with the front desk girl not understanding that we were paying for 2 nights with each one of us paying for one night. We knew it would be bad when she said, "Uh...I think I can do this...uh...."
her: I have to print new rate cards this is wrong"
me: That's the rate I was quoted
her: but I have to figure out how much half of it is so I can charge you each the right amount (she goes to calculator to figure half of $80.10! :rotfl2: )
Astrid: why don't we just pay for the second night tomorrow.
her: no I can figure this out it will just take a while
me to astrid:
me: uh...we are each paying for one night, that means we each pay $80.10 total. (duh!!)
her: OH, now I get it!! The computer was right after all!!
Me to the little voice inside me head, "no crap sherlock!" to her: :rolleyes1

This whole story is much better in person when you can see Astrid and I reenacting the whole thing!

Okay, going to bed now! Now that I've bored you all to tears with my long winded story!

I enjoyed meeting Jon and Pam and Valerie.

Back to chat tomrrow night!! hugs to all!
tara

Anyone want an older sister? cheap? housebroken, drinks too much booze, smokes and is loud. Pain in the tukkus to me, but might be good for you to have around. Tends to exaggerate, especially in matters that allow her to enjoy the 'poor me' syndrome. Also tends to think that she is the one that the rest of us look to as a role model  .Psst, I only use her as a role model for what not to do with my life! She told me a few stretch of the truth lies yesterday and one bold faced one.

This is WHY I moved away from family. Geez! Anyway, my diatribe for the evening is over.

Bethie, I'm jealous-that looks like fun! I went to scraptopia today, because I was told they had a lot of Disney stuff. Stamps of Disney fonts, lots of stickers and embellishments and a lot of paper that I hadn't found at JoAnn's. No die cuts, though :confused3 . I saw something cool-they have album pages of all the local high schools-pretty neat (and they were the same price as all the others)

I think I will have another project for the future. Thinking I'll be scrapping a mom memory book-whatever she tells me at these chemo sessions will go into a book. Gotta dig out my photo boxes for some of this stuff. If I can get papers and stuff ready, I can do this for her for Christmas.

Paula, sounds like you had some fun times. Bummer that Artist Point wasn't good-I've only done breakfast there. Whispering Canyon has become one of our top 5 WDW restaurants.

Karen, sounds like a busy day you had!

Off to sleepy land. Touch base sometime tomorrow!

Suzanne
