trip report time :p

Cruise Pictures

We had a rather uneventful flight down to Mobile. There was a teeny delay in the flight from Memphis to Mobile, but we were only about 20 minutes late. We got the shuttle from the airport to the hotel, and eventually went to our room. The hotel shuttled us the next morning (after a fine breakfast of Krispy Kremes) to the dock. There was a bit of a line, but we boarded just after noon, and wound up meeting a very nice couple from Cleveland in line as well.

We went to our cabin immediately, and then checked out the rest of the ship. It was huge and I admit if it weren’t for the map, we would have been very lost most of the time. We decided to have lunch, which was just pizza and ice cream. I swear if there was anything to do, it was to eat.

After we ate, I decided to get this conditioning oil treatment for my hair, which included a half hour long head, neck & upper back massage. Oh I was in 7th heaven with that!!!!!! After the oil treatment, I went back, showered, dressed & went to dinner. They had amazing sit down service and we were seated with some wonderful people. Since we had the late seating, we more or less went to bed as soon as we got back home.

Tuesday morning we got up at a reasonable hour, had breakfast and by 8 am we were out on the sun deck just taking in the sun & the gulf water views. We watched an ice sculpture being made, watched a Newlywed/Not so Newlywed game, lazed around a ton and after we watched the sun set, we got dressed for the formal dinner and cocktail hour. This was the only time that you could drink alcohol for free. After dinner, we watched a stage show, then went up to take pictures of the midnight buffet (didn’t eat it though) and then went to sleep.
Wednesday we were docked in Calica. I admit this place was a sad sight to see. Just the way people live makes me feel blessed. We had a nice shopping & beach tour. I got to try on some amazingly expensive and huge diamond rings, but settled for a beautiful delicate sterling silver bracelet. We spent 2 hours at Playa del Carmen beach... just gorgeous!

We went back to the ship to have a very late lunch, relax and then had dinner before we went to a swing class. So Luis finally learned how to dance swing style!!! They had a few more shows/activities on the ship that we did (battle of the sexes... women won!!! comedy show among them) and we went to sleep a bit early to make sure we could get up for the excursion.

Thursday morning we docked in Cozumel. The water there is amazingly wonderful as well! We thought we were going to have to tender in to port, but we were lucky and were able to dock. So we had a quick breakfast, browsed some of the shops of Cozumel, then went to go on our beach buggy & snorkeling excursion. That was a BLAST!!! We did a little driving to where we snorkeled (which was cool, but I hated being stung as much as I was by the jellyfish). Then we drove to a private beach and had an excellent lunch. The scenery was gorgeous and I LOVED driving that beach buggy!!! We looked around Cozumel a little more and headed back to the ship.

From this point on, we just did a ton of relaxing. That might sound very boring, but trust me, I loved being rocked to sleep in the afternoon and evening when I would lay on the bed! We had dinner in the dining room each of the remaining nights and just had a blast lazing around.

On my birthday, we had room service for lunch in our cabin (which was yummy) and he embarrassed me terribly at dinner by having a cake brought to the table and then had them sing to me. We did try out the casino at one point as well... spent $3 and then left. I guess gambling isn’t for us.

Saturday was the day we disembarked from the ship. We were up really really early (even for me) and were packed and off the ship by about 9 am. Within about 30 minutes Alan and Rebecca showed up. It was a perfect way to end the trip. We more or less just hung out at a near by mall after seeing some of the city by car... loved the beads hanging from the trees in the streets. We had lunch, and then eventually headed to the airport. Alan & Rebecca were sweet enough to wait with us while we moved flights from NWA to Delta (due to flight delays). We honestly had a blast with the both of them, and really the time flew by so quickly. We had a wonderful time with them and the trip in general. It was the best birthday I have had in years!

Sweeet pics and trip report! There's a pic of you looking soooo relaxed...must be after that conditioning oil treatment-aaaah. :goodvibes Beautiful beach pics; we'll be in Playa del Carmen in a few weeks, too. :Pinkbounc You looked awesome in those pics, too, btw. :cool1:

Handsome duo, pfishgirl!:)

KARRIE!!! Good luck with the sleep study-don't be afraid, you'll be just fine.:) I've always been so curious about what happens at those things. Hope you get a good rest-wires and all!

OK, thanks for the real estate advice too... I'm wondering if I wander in without a buyer's broker if my offer to purchase is any more attractive to that selling agent bc that agent knows they don't need to split the commission with anyone? YOu'd think so but everytime I walk in somewhere with a request to see a property(to which they have exclusive agency), they are so anxious to sign me up as a buyer. I HATE this business. It annoys me as everyone I speak with says the buyer's broker is a fairly new phenomena and that I don't REALLY need one. As long as I have a good lawyer, what could go wrong? :confused3 (famous last words pirate: )

OK. Smooches. :love2:

Just let the dogs in from their last trip out before bed.

Elaine, great pics. Sounds like a wonderful relaxing time thay you enjoyed.

Jeannie, sorry, I can't be of much help to you. I do believe sales here can be done without broker on either part. Saving commission fee and $$

Stacy, pic is cute. Amazing there is no relation other than spacial.

Karen, sleep well tonight. I hope the results will be helpful to you.

Todd, I guess I do like your attitude.

Caroline, I remember from earlier reading that you have the winter blahs. Hope the sun shines in you soon. (And you are ketchup queen still--well among the queens of ketchup)
:sunny:

Everyone, next installment later, maybe. Good night.

Thanks for sharing the pictures and the trip report, Elaine.

Karen...it will be fine...and then you will know what to do. Dave did that a few years ago.

Jeannie....good luck house hunting. How fun! No brokers required here either.

Night All :wave2:

Morning all... finished catching up on PMs and couldn't get into the DIS for a while after that

Jeannie, Playa del Carmen is beautiful!! I am so jealous that you will be going there soon! Gorgeous weather this time of year as well... I'd love to go back ::yes::

As for the real estate stuff... good luck! I know we got lucky with ours... he charged us only half of what he normally charges. However, I know his practice is to charge 3% or whatever the comission no matter if there is another agent involved or not. So the seller's agent might only get the 3% (or whatever) no matter what. It might be more attractive to the seller though, as they don't have to lose money due to a comission (or depending on how you look at it, you won't pay as much for a comission). In our case, our agent (being our friend) more or less just chopped off $1000 for us. The seller saw that they were getting X amount and we saw that we were paying X-1000. Kind of strange, but it was nice. I'm honestly not sure I would do it without an agent though. But I wouldn't sign with just anyone... we ran into some awful agents that were selling... some real jerks out there.

Stacy, looks like you have your pics working nicely :teeth: As for your cat!!! must have stowed away in my bag ;)

:wave2: Hi Nancy

Morning, all...

Got to sleep in and it's helping the leg. After four days of standing, it has become nearly as swollen as before the surgery. Oh well, the doc did say the surgery wasn't going to help that. So I guess it means a trip to Hawaii is somewhere in my future.

Nice pics, Elaine...I wanna go!

Stacy, your pics are cool, too. Your son does look a lot like DH. When people find out I'm remarried, the first question I usually get is if the kids are Ed's or the exs. Looking at your guy, they probably assume the handsome boy is your husband's.

Nancy and Liz, I'm going to the post office today, woo hoo. Oh yeah, Bethie, too...I probably will go again tomorrow with the huge honking box for my sister's family, lol. Christmas is going out so late that it will be there right before her b'day!

How's this for funny...a friend and I were IMing, her in italian, me in french. All I could remember to describe weather was snow, rain and cold! Although I probably could say it's pretty outside!

I think I'm gonna scare up some lunch. My vultures absolutely dove on the fondue. We ended up making it last night, because it takes a bit of work shredding cheese when the food processor is packed away. The kids love it, and hadn't had it for six months. Drum roll please, Kevin ate broccoli because it was enrobed in cheese! A proclamation was made that we're having fondue the first night in the new house.

Off I go, a friend is moving down here and is telling me about Google maps. Must go look, lol!

Oh yeah,

Jeanne, I'm probably not much help. This house and the last house we dealt with the builders, but the house my ex and I bought we used the listing agent. It was an FSBO and the seller financed.

That said:
Seller's agent usually wants to get top dollar.
Seller's agent wants to get the house sold.
FSBO didn't require an inspection, since our loan was from the seller.

Using the seller's agent is going to be fine in your case, since you're studying and know the biz.

Getting your own inspector/appraiser is the one expense I would say you should absolutely make. Especially if you find FSBO owner financing!

...my MIL JUST came out of surgery about 10 minutes ago. She will be under sedation till AT LEAST 6PM tonight...Dr said that he succesfully replaced 3 of the 4 blocked arteries....now, it's in 'HIS' hands!

Thanks you so much for all the prayers and well-wishes.....keep praying, as the next 48-72 hrs are crucial!

Kimmar, prayers continuing.

Suzanne found a way for the kidlet to eat broccoli whoa...you are a great cook then!

Stach have fun on your errands today. We'll be here waiting to hear about them.

Sherry, hope it was just a lazy time and not that you are coming down with anything. Weather is a sleepy kind here today.

Beth, hope ya finish earlier than you figured and can come back to play.

Everyone, love and hugs.

Happy Mardi Gras!

Kimmar...glad MIL is out of surgery...good luck

UGH!! I had a coupon for free wrap from Tropical Smoothie cafe. So I drove over order my Blazin BBQ Chicken Wrap no onions. I wait. My name if called. I pick it up and drive back to school. Finally get back to my desk, unwrap it and find that it is the wrong thing. The only thing the same was that it was chicken and that it was in a white tortilla. I didn't really like this one (not a fan of swiss cheese AND it had onion on it!) I guess next time I will double check that I got the right thing. Guess that is what I get for not paying for it :rotfl: . I should have ordered a drink or something so they didn't feel it was such a waste!

Oy vey! off to find some certs now

Darn. I guess that means I can't tell my favorite joke anymore:

Q: What's the difference between broccoli and buggers? :confused3

A: Kids won't eat broccoli!!! :earseek:

TC, ba dum bum

Tara, I hate when that happens and I haven't checked. It seems like as luck would have it whenever I do not check is when it occurs.

Yuck day outside here.
