Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

The scale finally budged today, yeah!!!:cool1:

I've been gaining and losing the same pound for the last 3-4 weeks, and I'm finally down about 2.5 pounds today! Now I'm remotivated to be good. It's so easy to slip back into old habits when it feels like your efforts aren't paying off anyway. Now my goal is easily within reach, so I'll be trying harder to make sure I get there! I've also had a couple people comment that they could tell I was losing weight, so that keeps me motivated too!

QOTD Monday: What websites do you use/visit to help you with your new lifestyle?

Just this one! I don't get much time to play on the computer, so I pretty much stick to the Dis! I just got a new phone yesterday with internet access, so now I'll be able to Dis more when I'm waiting for the kids at dance class and stuff like that.

QOTD Tuesday: What book are you currently reading? Or what book have you read recently? What is your favorite book?

Right now I'm reading the user manual for my new phone!:rotfl: It's going to take me a while to figure it all out! The last book I read was Sundays at Tiffany's by James Patterson. I don't really have a single favorite book, but mysteries are my favorite, and I like almost anything by James Patterson.

Hang in there, MelanieC - ruts are tough, for sure, and it sounds like you're feeling pretty exhausted. This is maybe a dumb question from a mom of two boys - how much longer does the cheer competition season go?

Thanks - Cheerleading season will (or should) end after we get home from Disney (we go for a cheercompetition that weekend at Disney). She has competitions each weekend till then. Plus DH has been gone the past two weeks, so I think you are right - I'm exhausted from all the cheer stuff and with DH being gone I'm running till late at night. I didn't get home till 9:30pm last night after running the kids here and there and back to school night at the HS, then I had to wait another 45min for DD to get done with cheer practice at 9pm because 45 minutes wasn't enough time to run home and back. By the time I got dinner on the plate (no table, we ate upstairs watching the Batchelor, lol) it was very late. My poor son had no choice but to be dragged around with me, lol. :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1

QOTD -- i'll be honest I don't go to any other site. as it is I wish i had more time for the WISH board ;) i've caught the Facebook bug, and I've been obsessing over checking WDW reservations in hopes to upgrade our June stay to club level at AKL. which apparently is next to impossible as everyone else in the world has noticed that there isn't much cost difference between a Savannah view and club level. urgh. yesterday afternoon i caught availablility on the website, by the time i got through the intro questions and info input on the automated part of the call -- it was gone. can you believe that....GONE! i feel guilty b/c we are sooo blessed and thrilled to be staying at AKL and i'm embarassed that upgrading has taken up so much of my energy and time. i know you guys understand....us Disney people..jeesh ;)

I just recently caught the facebook bug too - its actually pretty fun. My fingers are crossed for you to get the club level. I totally understand the bug, lol!
Course my bug is usually to stay for longer and add days at the Pop (getting the cheapest rate lol) - I'm in the process of trying to get DH to agree to 4 more nights at POP - hey its only $49 a night so we would have 21 nights - I feel greedy sometimes, but it's like you - its the bug. Plus this is our girls last year at home as kids.

Question of the Day
What book are you currently reading? Or what book have you read recently? What is your favorite book?

I'm currently reading Definately Dead by Charlain Harris (The Sookie Sookhouse Southern Vampire Series). This is the book that the HBO series True Blood is based on.

My favorite books are Twilight -

And the best invention ever is the Kindle. It has increased my reading ten-fold and having all my books to bring on vacation in one little case is wonderful.

Karen, here is what is on the official site
The course will close on a continuous pace of 16:00 minutes per mile. Anyone who cannot maintain the 16:00 minute per mile pace must move to the sidewalk as the course closes to allow regular traffic through. Runner services cannot be guaranteed for participants beyond the 16:00 minute per mile pace.
thinking about coming?

melanie --is it an adjustment to get used to reading off a screen? i have never seen a kindle in person but i love to read

I just started The Shack, not very far into it at all, but my friends including Mom, have highly recommended it

favorite author - Janet Evanovich

just finished a James Patterson, i've fallen behind on keeping up with his releases. it was the one Alex Cross travels to Nigeria...title....:confused3

Molli - No, there was no transititon. It feels just like reading a book. I am so in love with this thing. It stays in my purse and if I wait in a line, I pull out my kindle.......If I'm waiting for anything I pull out my kindle. Taryn was rolling her eyes at me last night because I was showing it to her friends at cheer practice. She always laughs at me because she says that Amazon should pay me for promoting it, lol.

QotD: What Websites do you use or visit to help you with your new lifestyle? I play here. I think the support here is genuine. I do use Sparkpeople, just not as dedicated to that as I should/need. I've been playing on FB too and have reconnected with a friend from childhood. That's been fun and has let me release some stress.

Molli, good luck with the Pig training. Here's hoping training for it keeps you on track.

EyorersButterfly, don't give up. I'm sending PD your way WISHing you can get this job.

QotD: What book are you currently reading? Or what book have you read recently? What is your favorite book? I'm between books right now. I've joined a book group with some friends and have really enjoyed stretching myself reading some of the books on our list. The discussion for this month is A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. I don't really have a favorite book exactly.

I actually got a decent workout in tonight and may play wit WiiFit before calling it a night. Watching President right now though.

I have Kindle envy. My friends have it and they like theirs. I love gadgets.

Actually... I am! I've been looking for something near by and you're all not that far away. I'm not up to a 16 minute mile yet, but could possibly be by the time the marathon is. I'm not worried about the distance at all- just the timing. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm- I'll have to see what my DH has to say about it.

I think James Patterson is one of my faves. Have you read his book called "Prey"?

QOTD: I'm rereading Breaking Dawn of Twilight. As far as a favorite, to quote Ever After "I could no sooner choose a favorite star in the heavens."

My mentor teacher sent me home today as my stomach was cramping so bad I couldn't stand up straight. I literally slept until about 5. I figured since I didn't eat all day I might as well take advantage of it and weigh in. I did lose .8!

If I still feel like crap tomorrow I may try to move up my doctor's appointment.

.
I read Twilight, and loved it, and just started the next book, New Moon. A friend had reccommended them, and I didn't think I'd really get into the whole vampire thing, but I really am enjoying them. I'll have to rent the movie when it comes out on video.

Congrats on breaking through that plateau. Enjoy your new phone. A guy I work with has the Iphone, and he's totally addicted to it. It will be great to have google at any time, any place for any questions.

21 days at pop sounds like heaven to me. at 49$ a night, you should go as long as possible. That's an awesome rate. When are you going?
We went skiing last week, and my son loved it, and it made me a little sad, because I'm afraid next winter, we will have to go skiing instead of to disney. I don't know if I'll be able to handle that.

I hadn't heard of the kindle, so I googled it. That looks awesome.

What Websites do you use or visit to help you with your new lifestyle?

I use the WISH boards. I also read Sparkle People but it seems like a lot to do to really utilize it (and get your spark points). I also like Whole Living by Martha Stewart Magazines.

What book are you currently reading? Or what book have you read recently? What is your favorite book?

I am reading Wait Until Midnight by Amanda Quick (which is a pseudonym for Jayne Ann Krenz) that is a historial, romance, para-psychology book. I recently was on a Georgette Heyer kick. She writes Regency era fiction. I also was reading Joanna Fluke whose murder series is like a tamer, midwestern version of Janet Evanovich. As you can tell, I read to escape the real world!

And today I am very happy because after a month of maintaining I finally lost a half a pound -- woo! hoo! It doesn't sound like much but any movement in the right direction after all this time is something to celebrate. :yay:

Have a nice day.

The Twilight series is the best - New Moon was my least favorite out of the three- but it's a necessary evil of the series, lol.

Yeah- Not sure what we will end up deciding on the 21 days at POP. We are actually driving down on 8/6, so we will be arriving on 8/7. Even if we dont' add on the extra days - 17 is still awesome.

The kindle is definately awesome. Its my favorite thing :)

Looks like I'm already showing a loss for the week - I'm praying it comes down another pound or so. I think I really need to see a loss this week to get out of this slump I'm in.

Keep up the great work everyone. We can do this.

I hoped that one day I might inspire other women, overweight, or just "older";) to go for it, I never imagined that I could inspire a 12 year old!

That was awesome, and that was the best part!

You inspire lots of folks - all of you do.

Hi again. Sorry I have been AWOL, but the last few weeks have been very busy with trials and illness - my own and others.

Last week the family member with the eating disorder (which I believe I talked about before) was brought in by ambulance with a heart rate so low she was at risk of having a heart attack. Heart Attack! The child is 16.

She has been hospitalized ever since but may be released by the weekend. Taking care of her will be the full time job of my sister in law. She is quite ill.

And, my husband had another bout of crippling depression, which is so hard to deal with that I cannot tell you what it is like, there are times when I cannot leave him alone. Monday was one of htose times.

And my father in law's cancer appears to be back, they found a lump on his neck that they are very concerned about - he will be starting chemo and radiation to shrink it.

My eating has been horrible and I have not been to WW for a few weeks.

Plan to get on track today by:

a) counting points strictly;

b) meeting with my trainer tonight;

c) getting to a WW meeting before week's end (maybe tonight);

d) posting on this board.

My niece is working hard to address her eating disorder, I need to work hard to address mine.

I have been off the band wagon but am getting on again today.

Thanks for listening.

Linda

Linda (Jimmduck) - what a lot of stress in your life! Best wishes to all your family members dealing with so many issues :grouphug:

UGH!! Anyone else MISS 1/2 (or more) of Biggest Loser yesterday because their NBC said it was going to be on at 9pm (or whatever) and then actually had it on earlier? I turned it on just after the little switch up and am still not clear on what actually happened. My NBC said it was to air at 9pm. I turned on the TV at 8:30 to find the show half over...let's just say I am a little upset. Then for some reason they air the Office, which wasn't even suppose to be on at all at 9pm. Couldnt they have air the Office at 8pm and BL at 9pm as scheduled? I am guessing they will do a recap tonight (at 8pm, if they air as scheduled) so maybe I will be able to catch-up.

I still need to catch-up with posts but as we all know work/life can get in the way sometimes...

Drinking more water was the easiest.
Getting more exercise is the hardest.

The easiest has been adding more fruit. I never bought much fresh produce before, but I adapted really quickly to changing my snacks from sweets to fruit.

The hardest has been increasing my water. I normally only drink with my meals, but I'm continuing to try to increase my consumption. I bought a camelback water bottle the other day so I can keep better track of my amounts.

Question of the Day - Wednesday

What one lifestyle change you have made that was the easiest? What one was the hardest?

Odly enough I think switching to baked chips was the easiest. started out hard, but I made the transition no problem, and it definitely is a switch that I know I can live with.

The hardest? I would say trying to get the snacking under control. Very hard for me some days.

Hear Ye Hear Ye, the Weightkeeper speaks

So much work to do, so little time. It is great to be home after a stressful week away. I now know what Dorothy meant when she said 'there's no place like home.' I would probably feel different if I had been at WDW for the week but that trip will have to take place another time. I am still working on trivia and DH has announced that it is time to start working on numbers for the accountant for the corporate taxes. YUK!! Let's move on to more pleasant things - like week 7.

Here's what we got for week 7

beginning participants---98
removed----------------11
current participants-----87
excused-----------------1
not reporting 1 week----17
not reporting 2 weeks----8
weigh ins---------------61
gains---(28.7 lbs)-------17
maintains----------------7
losses----(58.1)--------37

Wish Biggest Loser 7 Week 7
week 6 cumulative net loss 672.2
less losses from those removed from challenge 68.2 pounds
weekly net loss 29.4 pounds
Cumulative net loss 633.4 pounds
week 6 average percentage of weight lost 0.25%

Before the weekly superstar list come the disclaimers.

**I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference the magic percentage of weight lost formula is (weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week) times 100.

**If you miss a week and return with a loss your percentage is adjusted to reflect missing one week.

**If you gain and then post a loss your percentage is adjusted. If your loss is less than last week's gain then you are not named a superstar because you are still working to lose the gain.

Now to the exciting part. Were you a superstar this week???

Hey superstar, yes I mean you. Even if your name is not listed above you are a superstar for sticking with this challenge. We are now headed down the the hill toward the end of this challenge. How are things going for you? Have you achieved 1/2 of your goal for the challenge? If you have GREAT, if not then why not? You know the answer, you know what to do to change your life. It's all about consistency. Working your program every day, yes every single day.

Life will sometimes throw temptations and challenges in your path. Like last night's BL. I couldn't believe all the complaining about the latest 'twist'. Well suck it up and get over it. Life has twists and stuff happens. To achieve our weight loss goals we need to find effective ways to deal with all the stresses of life. Food is not an effective way to deal with stress. What works for you? What keeps you OP (on program)?

Hang in there losers and keep working hard. Our numbers show there is much to celebrate and I can't wait to share it all with you. Stay tuned. I really will have something to share soon.
