Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Ran into the wife of a guy that works with hubby. We have gone out with them a couple of times, and have had them to the house a few times. I guess it has been since the fall that I have seen her. She said "Have you lost weight?" I said, "a little" and she said "you are getting so skinny"

 :cool1: :cheer2: :yay: :woohoo: :dancer: party: :jumping1:

That is so cool!:thumbsup2

Hey everyone, I am back home from my crazy day yesterday! My DD's school funfair in the morning, the tournament in the afternoon, and then down 1 1/2 hours to the south through a snow storm to celebrate DBIL's birthday. What a day!

The tournament went OK. I was paired up against another girl from our school. she is 17, does ballet, and has incredible flexibility and is tall. her kicks are AWESOME. We both did a great form, she got first and I got second. I was a bit bummed, but still very proud of myself for going out there and trying. I did do a good form, so I have no regrets and think I did the best form that I physically could. What I did learn is that I would really like to work on my flexibility to see if I can possibly learn to kick higher, and work on my core strength to have better and longer control of my kicks.

but that's not the best part...

DS also competed and he got his first FIRST PLACE in form! I was so proud of him!

but that's not the best part...

another girl from our school (12 years old), was hesitant to do the tournament. She is very good. I talked to her on Thursday and really encouraged her to go to the tournament. SHe was very nervous about it, and I just talked to her about it and encouraged her. She changed her mind and decided to compete. When we got there, she had already competed, her face lit up when she saw me and said "Vija, I got 2nd PLACE!". She was SOooo happy. She thanked me for giving her a "boost". That made me so happy. Not soon after her mom came up to me and thanked me for talking to her daughter. she specifically mentioned me by name to her mom, and said that I really encouraged her and gave her the boost to try out. And her mom thanked me as well. I can't tell you how much that warmed my heart. Just knowing that I made a difference in another persons life in such a positive manner is such a wonderful feeling. I have tears in my eyes right now, just remembering this. I hoped that one day I might inspire other women, overweight, or just "older";) to go for it, I never imagined that I could inspire a 12 year old!

That was awesome, and that was the best part!

Thanks for the prayers, all! We still know NOTHING! ER visit was a total WASTE!

Got there at 1, 2:15 got to triage. Nurse looked at her chart & said she was under 18 so could go to Pediatric Urgent Care which 'can do everything we can only is quicker'. So off we go winding thru the hospital....sorry, no transport or wheel chairs available for DD. Took us over 25 min to walk to the urgent care. Checked in & they AGAIN took all my insurance info (so I"m sure I will end up having to fight being billed TWICE)

After another hour, put us in a room....reg Dr. office. Dr (Doofus, DumbSxxx, etc) finally comes in. Takes info & says the 'only thing in your lower left abdomen is your anus & an ovary & it's not the ovary, so it must be your bowels. Won't do any tests, won't call in another Dr, took blood & urine (which were perfect.....duh!) Says it's "weird" that all her pain from her bowels would be localized in a dime sized spot, but that it has to be an intestinal problem.

Then he sent me out to have what I thought would be the standard "sex, drugs & rocknroll" talk. Nope. Spent 20 minutes telling her how she's 17 & he knows school can be stressful & that depression can cause a tiny pain to seem really big when you don't want to go to school & that her emotions seemed "flat" so she should really go alone & discuss depression meds with her primary. And he told her NOT to tell me about the 'talk'.

Let's see. She has been in chronic pain & on narcotic painkillers for 3 weeks & you've just ignored the pain, said she should only be taking tylenol unless the pain is excruciating.....which it is ON the narcotics....and that you can't do anything for her & think it's all in her head......Wonder why she is PISSED OFF & shutting you out???????

So, she left the hospital, walking again as they wouldn't get her transport or a chair, with no pain relief & with me having orders to "monitor her bowels". RIGHT!!!

She cried all the way home, hadn't eaten anything all day in case they needed to do surgery. All she wanted was Subway, a Hot Fudge Sundae & Starbucks. So, we both got them, and consumed them in that order.....& I haven't stopped stress eating since. UGH!!!!!!!

And of course her pain is worse, so I haven't exercised since Thursday. Then, my desktop decided to lose the ability to connect to the internet again....& dumped all my email???? And DS22s car would not run last night when he needed to leave for work.....and I didn't do his laundry correctly.....and he basically 'dumped' on me for about 20 min. Then, yesterday morning we had to go help DSil move 8 houses down & now DH back is bad again....she had young guys to help, but of course, DH had to be 'the man' despite his history of chronic back problems. Then I tried to get on this old laptop & it wouldn't connect. Finally got it to late last night...hopefully it will stay working. And DS19s car not back, his computer won't even boot. UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And those are just the MAJOR irritations!!! If I don't gain 10 lbs this week it will be a miracle!!!

Sorry for venting, but I am going NUTS!!!! Love you all & hope you are doing MUCH better than I am!!

Julie,

Sorry to hear all your issues. Is your DD under the care of anyone besides the ER. Seriously they just aren't the best place for this. (Sorry but it's just the way things are)

I would get to your primary care physician MONDAY with ALL the test results and get a plan. Seriously you need one MD to help coordinate all of this. If your primary care isn't going to do that it's time to find another one! I spent two years with Chronic Hives and realized pretty quickly that I needed one person to make sure specialist A wasn't screwing up what specialist B was trying!

Now as for your 22 year old. Show him the laundry room and explain how those machines work! LOL! At that age he's old enought to do his OWN laundry!

I'm so sorry Julie. So sorry. That is so incredibly frustrating.

Julie,

I wanted to keep this separate because it's me venting and probably not helpful to you.

I had the same kind of situation at her age. It was a simple bladder infection that was never diagnosed. They kept saying flu/gastro (both family doctor and ER visit in serious pain) and sending me home. And then three weeks in I was losing weight like crazy, rocking in pain constantly and I went in again. And you brought back memories. They kept saying, "Is she depressed? What's wrong with her in her life? " :confused3  I was in too much pain to say, "WTH? Have I entered the twilight zone?"

Finally someone came with a brain. Thank God. I say that because someone who keeps saying "I'm in pain and it's not going away" and keeps going to the doctor should be really looked at and looked at until it's figured out - especially since teenagers LOVE going to the coctors, eh? :rolleyes1 :sad2: . So rational brain I mean. It had progressed to being very close to my kidneys. I had to stay in the hospital for a week until they could make sure that my kidneys were untouched.

And it was such a simple problem to begin with.

Unreal how they look at mental issues when someone is suddenly in pain. I'm so so sorry that you are both going through all this. Just keep going. Just keep going in.

 Lisa

Julie, sorry to hear of your troubles. The health system in New Mexico is especially frustrating. Has anyone looked to see if your daughter has diverticulitis? It is very painful and if she just had a small pocket it would account for the very localized pain. I will think of you and your family and hope that they figure things out soon and things get better for all of you!

 Julie, what the doctors don't always understand is that we women know our bodies, and it is their job to do everything they can to determine what is going wrong. Keep banging on the doors until someone can rationally get done what needs to be done. Take care and stay strong!

This week has been really cruddy for me. (Is cruddy even a real word?) Anyway, you get my point. I have been tired and in a bad mood for some reason. DD was sick with stomach bug Sunday night and Monday morning. I missed work and have spent the rest of the week playing catch up.

UGH! Sick kids & having to play catch up at work would make me stress too. Hope this coming week is stress FREE!

only 2.2 from my BL goal. I still need to lose another 5.6 before treating myself to an entry in the 2010 WDW Marathon!
That is great. Good Luck!

Hopefully this week will be not quite as stressful.
That is a lot to deal with in one week. But as they say what does not kill us makes us stronger. So by now you must be super woman.

I'm back, and my vacation is over for me now. I'm going to start journalling again in the morning, and absolutely stick with it now.
Glad you had such a great time on your vacation. Getting right back into it is the best way to keep moving forward.

Ran into the wife of a guy that works with hubby. We have gone out with them a couple of times, and have had them to the house a few times. I guess it has been since the fall that I have seen her. She said "Have you lost weight?" I said, "a little" and she said "you are getting so skinny"
Doesn't that feel GREAT!?

Hi everyone - just checking in and trying to get back on track.
Jump back into the pool the water is great!

ER's are just that a waste of time except in very limited circumstance. For an ongoing issue that are useless.

My daughter has on going abdominal pain that has been labled "depression." I think this is what they label anything that it outside of the box of "normal." If you are not happy with the answers keep after her primary care doctor & if needed find a new one.

Julie, so sorry you are going through all of this, Nothing is worse then when your kids are in pain. Hoping that someone can soon help your DD!:grouphug:

I wondered the same thing! (Diverticulitis) Also, and please forgive me if this has been asked and answered a million times, but did your daughter have a pelvic ultrasound? Maybe she has an Ovarian cyst or an ovarian"torsion" (twisted ovary) or if the pain is really low - perhaps a kidney stone that hasn't passed. I certainly don't mean to interfere or play armchair doc-in-the-box. Here's hoping she feels better soon. I wish you peaceful thoughts during this incredibly stressful time

Guess away, all! Maybe we women/moms(mostly) can do what the drs can't seem to!!

Here's the history:
1/30 DD txted me from school w/ severe pain. Said she had had to pee but had a Calc test & the school locks all bathrooms. Kids have to go to the admin building, check out a key, then go to whichever academy building the key is for, then return the key. So, with a large more college type campus & 10 minutes between classes when it was designed for 1800 & has over 3k, it's nearly impossible. She ended up leaving calc w/ test unfinished (wasn't allowed to finish). Went to Primary Dr's associate. White cells in urine. Thought UTI. put her on Keflex.

2/2 - 1st Dr. called & said no infection after the culture & to take her of keflex, she should be feeling better. was worse. Got her in to a different assoc. of primary who put her on pyridium. No white cells in urine.

2/4 - got her in to primary who discussed cystitis, took her off pyridium, put her on bactrim, gave her diflucan (in case it was yeast related) and started her on tramadol for pain. DD got REALLY sick overnight from the diflucan(she had taken tramadol & bactrim before w/ no problems). UP all night w/ chills sweats, nausea. Pain didn't let up.No white cells in urine

2/5 - Primary was unable to see her & sent us to urgent care. Urgent care Dr. said white cells in urine, but blood normal. said she needed a pelvic ultrasound but because we HAVE insurance, we had to see our primary to have it done. Our insurance would have paid, but it is presbyterians policy.

2/8 - Went for pelvic ultrasound

2/9 - primary called back. Ultrasound was normal. Pain no better.

2/10-11 - Pain getting worse & primary told us to go to ER as they can call in sprcialists & run tests that would take weeks to set up. Spent about 16 hours in ER. CT was normal, Xray was normal. Gave her morphine in ER which is the only thing that has 'almost' taken the pain away. Told us to see a GI dr & a gyn.

2/16 - finally got her into a gyn., everything normal. but if not better in 2 months would do a laparoscopy.

Tried to get her into GI dr but only 2 groups. the adult group won't see her as she is not 18, the peds group won't see her as they stop at 16. Primary keeps trying to force the issue but they won't budge.

So, she went to school on Wednesday & when I picked her up early, she could barely walk w/ pain radiating into upper left leg. Called Primary again & said try ER again as there really isn't anything else she can do in office & getting in to specialists takes forever here in NM. And, the ER saga this time is what I posted earlier.

Blood normal, urine normal, no diarrhea, no constipation, no gas, no bloating, normal periods, occasional slight nausea, no vomiting, slight dizziness from the meds. We know she isn't pregnant as she has now had SIX pregnancy tests. Just the pain which is directly above one of her 2 incisions from having double inguinal hernia repairs at 8 months old.

Her appendix problem at age 12 was fun, too, as it was SPASTIC and only showed in the first CT. Surgeon admitted her but then decided not to do surgery as she had no vomiting or fever. 10 weeks later it ruptured as the only surgeon we could find to do anything took it out. He saw her & asked to see her again in 3 days and said she was going downhill & it was no way for a 12 yo to be living in pain so he just went in to look around. His is the appt. we have on Thursday.

So, that's the saga thus far....is it any wonder I"m not sleeping & struggling with wanting to eat everything in sight???

Thanks for all the input!!

Julie, I just cannot believe all that you have going on there. I don't know how to advise you, but maybe a trip out of NM to any place else might be in order. It is an unbelievable story. I know you won't give up and don't let the system get to you. Keep working it. Sending prayers, PD and all I can that this is something resolved soon.

Wow, Julie, that's a long struggle for you and your DD. I hope the Dr's appointment this week finally gets you somewhere.

Julie.

Step 1! Call Primary START CHEWING! He is abdicating his job by sending you to ER. That line about they can get specialists etc... yes, if it's LIFE THREATENING! Otherwise you saw what happened! They are not a primary care doctor HE IS! GOOD GRIEF! You are always going to be second tier since she's "not bleeding or close to death" that's just the triage method!

Primary is NOT forcing issue with GI doctor. (If he were he could have gotten her in, HE is their LIFEBLOOD of patients. Unless this is the ONLY practice in town suggest to him that if they won't treat his patients perhaps he should refer someplace else???)

Who referred you to the surgeon? Is this one you just picked on your own. If so once again I question what your primary is doing!!!

Another site I was on started something similar and I thought it would be nice to participate in theirs as well. Big mistake. We have just had our first week and I am already discouraged. The people were not nearly as supportive as the people here. I've received several rude and nasty replied from the members, enough that I wanted to just give up this whole thing.

We were doing it on teams of two, and I felt bad for doing this to my teammate but I called it quits.

The people here are much more supportive and I thank you for that. You have really helped me keep my focus, and given me the motivation I have needed. Thank you. I'm glad that I have you all to help me on my journey.

Julie, I can't imagine what you are and your family are feeling right now. I hope that you can get this solved quicly for all of your sakes. I will be praying for you and your daughter.

Goldcupmom... when I was 17 I was having a situation that sounds very similar, and I was having large cyst. I hate telling you this part, but it took close to 8 months for them to finally find them. Best wishes to you and her both.

Julie-I am so sorry that you are having such a difficult time finding any help for your DD. Sending lots of :grouphug: :grouphug: for you all. Hope that you will hit on the right person soon that will be able to help you out.

julie --prayers for you/daughter

bad weekend -- bad ohMom -- beer, Grippos pretzels, BBQ dinner out......bad me
