Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Well, I finally realize what my wife, and some of you ladies on here are talking about with the major weight fluctuations.

I had been sick for about 2 weeks, and finally was better last Thursday. That night I played most of our basketball game, and when I weighed in last week was down 5 pounds for the week. I soon figured out that it was mainly water loss, due to playing basketball, and having been sick, because by Sunday, I had "gained" 7 pounds. Now this morning, I'm somehow back to my weight from last week. I've had fluctuations, but never anything like this. I'm just glad when it was all said and done I had a maintain this week, because I thought I was looking at a 4 lbs. gain minimum, as of Sunday.

Well Buzz, I hope I am like you and bounce back, because as of this morning I've had a 3 lb weight gain, and I walked every day for the last two weeks. Ugh! I have had alot of salty foods this week, but that's just making an excuse. I can't let it discourage me. I was feeling pretty good this morning, so I walked a little longer than usual. Congrats to everyone who lost weight this week.:woohoo:

I am the same as last week which is okay with me. Exercise has been very little since my ankle and foot have been bothering me.
Maintaining is GREAT! I have been there with an injury making exercise more difficult.

QOTD - Mexican by a landslide...I have stopped ordering the fried dishes, try to stick with something that comes with a lot of lettuce or order more if I need it and I break the chips into small pieces to make them last longer.
Mexican is one of my fav's too. I love to get taco salad's & they are not that bad calorie-wise if you skip the fried shell.

this week i'm very happy to report a 1.4 lb loss, taking me into territory of numbers i haven't seen in almost a year!
That is great Molli!

I'm down a little bit, but I still can't seem to break the 170 barrier! It's so frustrating. I'm planning on upping my exercise this week because I know I haven't done as much as I could.

QOTD Friday: What is your favorite meal/food and how have you made it healthier so it fits into your new way of eating?
Let's see, my favorite is Papa John's pizza, but you can't really make that healthier! .

I think upping the exercise will be a great way to shake your body it to a loss. Our body's are so good at adapting that they need a shake up every once in a while.

Pizza is my all time favorite. And Pizza is EASY to make healthier. Ask for less cheese. Get veggies instead of fatty meats. Get the thin crust instead of the thick/pan crust.

Well, I LOVE chips ... I then started to eat baked chips and they satisfy my crunchy/salty needs.
That is a FANTASTIC swap!

QOTD Friday: What is your favorite meal/food and how have you made it healthier so it fits into your new way of eating?

My favorite food does not lend itself to being made healthier so I just don't have it, and lo and behold, I have lived without it!
So what is it? I am curious. Sometimes it just takes some brain storming to come up with a way to make a favorite more healthy.

I don't know what my favorite food is, but I love pizza, pasta, and Mexican. Mexican is rough because they bring those chips! We also have a theater style popcorn machine and I love that. A couple of times I've made myself a 100 calorie bag of Smart Pop and made the good stuff for everyone else. Not the same!

You can always ask them to NOT bring the chips. I agree smart pop is not the same a theater popcorn but it is so much better for you. Maybe as a comprimise you can make a bag of smart pop and mix in a cup or so of the good stuff?

I love ice cream, but Chocolate Ice Cream, especially, is like crack to me. I love it and once I start, it's hard not to go back for another bowl and sometimes even another. I can't really keep it in the house, especially the Edy's slow churned with chocolate flakes or brownies.....OK.
Well at least the Edy's (Dryers for us on the west coast) slow churned is better than the full fat stuff. But if it is something you know you do not have control over, then you are right it is best to not keep it in the house. Baskin-robins has a new line of low-fat, low-sugar ice creams. So maybe you can go there and get a single scoup of chocolate for your treat and still not have it in the house.

Hi everyone!
Not really sure what to respond to the QOTD. I do like Mexican and have been making healthier fajitas. (Low fat torillas, Tyson chicken breast strips, onions and peppers fried in "pam", low fat cheese and sour cream. Definitely better then going to a Mexican place LOL!)
That is great swap. I have always been a "beef" mexican food type but I have been getting/using more chicken and I do really like it. And much lower in fat/calories.

Well, I finally realize what my wife, and some of you ladies on here are talking about with the major weight fluctuations.
My cure for weight fluctuations? Do not wiegh yourself too often. Pick and day & time (first thing in the AM is best, roll out of bed and just do it) and that is the ONLY time you wieght. Otherwise, the fluctuations will kill you.

quickly checking in. Didn't get a chance to WI or go to WW this morning. Headed back to ER with DD. Hopefully someone can do SOMETHING. She is getting steadily worse and in more pain.. I'll update when I can.

Aw, Christa - thanks for the suggestion! I only wish we had Baskin-Robbins here still. For some reason, they're all gone from Minnesota. :( I do love the soft serve, too, though. I could go to DQ for chocolate soft serve, but it's more points per serving, so I tend to just do the McD's. The vanilla is almost as good and not nearly so dangerous. :)

Julie - I sure hope the ER was able to assist you and your daughter. Take care. Our thoughts are with you.

Hope they figure out what is wrong with your DD and can finally do something. Seeing a child in pain is the worst.

Bummer...But ya know McD's soft serve is yummy...too bad they don't have chocolate also. ;)

Welcome new host :goodvibes I'm behind on quotd's. My favorite day would probably be Thursdays because it's a slow day at the pool. I can always get a lane to myself and a local grocery store brings day old bread there for people for free. I don't really have regular days off--I'm supposed to have Fridays and Sat's off but that changes often.
Haven't weighed myself yet but I have a feeling it will be a samer so no movie for me...(crap) I don't know what's up with that- haven't been eating any more except maybe wed night--I finished a bottle of wine so it was probably a tad too much and I ate a small bowl of cheese popcorn (still leftover from xmas sigh) then had some mixed nuts (there was about 2 tablespoons left) and some of those round chocolate mint things-- 4 I think I was enjoying them immensely lol. And one Ferro Rocher which I didn't like at all. Husband who supposedly looves those has still not eaten his from xmas. I think I'm going to put together a bag of food for my daughter and her boyfriend and finally get rid of all the Christmas left overs. I just absolutely will not waste food.

Down one pound. Froze my rear off in the bathroom weighing myself about 20 times and finally accepted my 1 pound loss. I was up earlier in the week but it must have been water weight because Auntie Flo is visiting...:yay: I'm gonna go see the wrestler :-)

**I am human and I make mistakes. If you have any questions please contact me. For your reference the magic percentage of weight lost formula is (weight loss for the week divided by weight for last week) times 100.

**If you miss a week and return with a loss your percentage is adjusted to reflect missing one week.

**If you gain and then post a loss your percentage is adjusted. If your loss is less than last week's gain then you are not named a superstar because you are still working to lose the gain.

Now to the exciting part. Were you a superstar this week???

Well I got that great news to you as promised but there is bad news. I am still working on trivia and who knows when it will be completed. RL (Real Life) here guys. I am so sorry to disappoint you.

I am near Dayton, OH at my in-laws. I love them dearly but I am really out of my comfort zone here. So much family drama, the stress, my father-in-law's tantrums and the possible snowstorm on the way. I could go on and on but will not. I get on the computer when I can to work on BL stuff but I am the chief cook and bottle washer here. DMIL fell down some stairs and is convalescing. DH is working on numerous home improvement projects on their new home. They live down the street from their daughter, DSIL, perfect daughter, supermom to 5, store manager extraordinar. My fragile ego is having a hard time keeping up with everything and of course I am not exercising or working my program. I just wanna go home.

So there it is for now. I will try to have some trivia and 1/2 way numbers for you soon. I will try to have week 7 for you next Tuesday. I will really try but I do have some RL issues to deal with here.

Meanwhile you better keep up the fight. Work your plan. Do what you are supposed to be doing. Take care of yourself. Keep losing. I know you can do it.

Brenda - hugs to you. :surfweb: Hang in there. :lovestruc

You do so much for all of us. Hope the rest of the time goes better. I can understand why you want home right now. Take good care of yourself.

And thank you for everything. All this time that you've given us. You are such an important part of our success. Time to give some  to yourself. As I always tell you. ;)

quickly checking in. Didn't get a chance to WI or go to WW this morning. Headed back to ER with DD. Hopefully someone can do SOMETHING. She is getting steadily worse and in more pain.. I'll update when I can.

Sure hope they can figure out what is going on...keep us posted and I'll be saying a prayer for you all.

QOTD Thursday: What is your favorite day of the week and why?
My favorite day of the week is Saturday. Nothing like the first day of the weekend knowing you have another day off before work.

QOTD Friday: What is your favorite meal/food and how have you made it healthier so it fits into your new way of eating?

My favorite meal is probably sushi - I try to eat it with brown rice when I can. I also started making some at home with organic nori, brown rice, cucumber and avocado - yummy

Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and Mexican are all there very close to Sushi.

Well I got that great news to you as promised but there is bad news. I am still working on trivia and who knows when it will be completed. RL (Real Life) here guys. ...
Thank you for all you do. Keeping track of everything & being our BL cordinator is a lot of work. We all undertand that RL can get in the way of the extra's, like this challange. If you need any help just holler.

It has been I think 3 weeks since I weighed-in. And I am happy to report a gain of only 1 pound. Sorry Lisa for using the only word but I think it is appropriate in this case.

Way to go Susan on a terrific week and a high five to all the other big losers!:thumbsup2

Brenda, so sorry to hear about your struggles right now. Hugs to you, and hope you make it home soon.

I had a yucky day today, (work related) and as soon as I got home, I knew I wanted to get on WISH to get a dose of "happy". Thanks to all of you for your good wishes and congrats. It cheered me up tonight.

I got the stats for the Biggest loser competition from DH's work. So far I am in the lead for pounds lost. Of course I don't know what the other girl's original weights were, so I don't know percentages, but I am the leader in numbers lost!!!!

WTG Losers..

Yikes.. My 4 pound lose this week didnt even get me into the top 20. I am afraid to see what my % was lol
