Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

I'm up .2 for this week, but I'm totally okay with it.
Yesterday was my b-day and hubby took me to Red Lobster for dinner and drinks. YUM!! And since we only go there once or twice a year, if I'm lucky, I had to try a little of everything!:lmao:

So next week that number will be goin' down!:thumbsup2

Happy Birthday. :bday:

Mine is in a couple of weeks. And I'm being taken out for dinner too. But if I'm really OP then one meal should not do to much damage.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I completely eliminated soda from my life this past week. I was drinking Coke like it was water. In fact, I wasn't drinking any water. Now that the caffeine-withdrawal headaches have passed, I'm feeling much better. :)

I weighed in this morning and have dropped 3.5 pounds! I'm so excited, but I'm tempering that with the knowledge that this weekend will be a big challenge for me. DD has a dance competition out of town this weekend. We're leaving in a few hours and won't be home until late Sunday, which means eating out all weekend. We've planned for meals where I have healthy options, so I'm hoping to hold strong.

Have a good weekend everyone and congrats on all the losses! :)

Since I am guessing that you do not plan to NEVER have a meal out again, this is exactly correct. The best thing to do (if possible) is to plan in advance what you will order so it can fit into your day. If it is a meal you really enjoy, why not save 1/2 of it to have for lunch the next day and get to enjoy it TWICE?

Remember this is about chaing the way you eat. Not some radically "diet" that you will go off of once you lose the wieght. It is about making changes that you can live with, not depravation.

My scale says I'm the same - which is hard to believe. I'll know for sure when I weigh in at WW tomorrow. I'm hoping I need to buy a new scale.

My positive change is: I've been working out every day. This week it was 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 to 15 min. on my Wii Fit. I plan to increase my numbers each week.

I need to incorporate more water now - my next challenge.

Yep, mine says the same too--I think I'm at my plateau darn it. This always makes me quit-- I lost 5 pound prior to the challenge. I will drink more water although recent studies have said coffee counts. I drink a big cup in the morning. I'm going to check what else counts, I drink water juice or milk with every meal-- big glasses. I do always put lots of ice in the juice to water it down.

Happy Friday everybody! I'm happy to say I'm down 2.1 which I'm happy with.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

There wasn't any big thing, more of a general attitude change. I have to want this and believe I can make exercise and eating mostly right a priority. So far this week its gone well. DH is behind me 100%. He's put the kids to bed a couple times while I'm exercising. He bought me a surprise this week (and I hadn't even mentioned it to him) - Its the Jillian Michaels Wii game. So I tried it out last night, and I like it. It'll be nice to be able to switch between WiiFit and it.

Good luck to everyone doing the 1/2, full & Goofy this weekend!!

I was down 1.7 this morning on my "at home" scale. Unfortunately, at WW (for the first time since 12/19) I was up 3 lbs. Oh well. It could have been much worse!!

What I've accomplished this week is starting to regain my focus & recommitting to the fact that I AM WORTH IT despite the messages I get from my home.

I'm still waiting on the BodyBugg to arrive and growing more frustrated daily, but..........

Have a wonderful Weekend everyone!!

You are worth it, and I'm very curious to hear how that BodyBugg works for you!:goodvibes

I've seen lots of people say "OP", what is that short for?

My biggest change for the better I think was, instead of going to the coast for a night this week and spending $67 on a room (if we were lucky walk in basis only) I joined our neighborhood recreation facility for $65 for 3 months. All we do when we go on these little jaunts is eat a lot and drink so I would have gained weight doing this. Well I wanted to do some whale watching too, and just get out as I am going stir crazy waiting for Disneyland to happen in March. I joined mostly for the jacuzzi (being honest) but the thought of swimming is intriguing me as well as I think it will be something I can do even with my back the way it is now. The jacuzzi is therapeutic though and will help me be able to do more at home. I like my treadmill and my routine watching the View :) I did however solve the mystery of how I can watch the View for an hour on the treadmill and only get 35 actual minutes in-I take 3-4 minutes for stretching at the beginning and end and on commercials I was flipping between cnn, cnbc, fox (desperation) northwest news msnbc and jon stewart and colbert--well I would stop while flipping- now I'm not lol. I got 45 minutes on today and started late. Have been on the computer too much looking for hotel rooms for this weekend (even though were not going now) and for next weekend--we have a wedding to go to so I better do good this week to make up for next because I like to have fun while I'm in Portland- we like our happy hour and happy hour food...it's the only time we do it though-- we don't drink and drive and Portland has the light rail. there's also a wine and seafood festival we will go to. So-- guess I will try the water thing. Ugh-- I hate peeing all the time. I guess your badder will get bigger though huh. Good sounds like training for happy hour to me...pirate:

I thought so too:confused3 That was the original plan. Hopefully people will not stop posting on Thursdays...

I thought so too - I was confused last night, lol. I liked having one better - I stopped posting last night after the new one, because it said not to post to this one till Friday and I figured it was silly to post to the old one since most people would probably not go to it.

Hi Everyone!

I am at Disney!

Waiting to go pick up Randy to go to the Expo and get our stuff for the Half tomorrow.

Have fun - I remember the half 4 years ago. It was awesome.

I'm up .2 for this week, but I'm totally okay with it.

Happy Birthday to you too in a few weeks :)

Hang in there - I know about competitions, and the food sucks at them. Hang in there and seek out the healthy places. Take it one day and one meal at a time. You can do it! :wizard:

Exactly how I feel with all this. It's not about depriving yourself. It's about finding that balance. I had Vietnamese today. I've planned out my dinner and I'll be right OP even with eating out. I had a vietnamese fresh summer roll with shrimp (it's cold with a rice paper wrapper-not fried) and Bun (Vermicelli Noodles) with Tofu and sauteed veggies. I also had a piece of homemade caramel. My dinner will also include an avocado, whole organic cheddar cheese, on an ezekiel tortilla with salsa. I had organic oatmeal and blueberries for breakfast. - All of this and I will still stay somewhere in the 1300 calorie range. Not bad for what I'm eating - especially since I'm not depriving myself. The avocado is a whole one -I don't limit my avocado consumption. It's one of my favorite foods and I work this healthy fat into my calorie allowance. Not a lot of snacking today, but my meals are huge.

I've seen lots of people say "OP", what is that short for?

OP = On Program. Basically just keeping with your program or staying on your Program. So if you have an OP day, it means you suceeded.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

Monday is my weigh-in day so I'll let you know how I did then. Congrats to all on your losses.

My positive change is keeping a food journal. I'm more accountable when I have everything I've eaten throughout the day in front of me in black & white.

Happy Friday everybody! I'm happy to say I'm down 2.1 which I'm happy with.

Great Job Shannon. And as you use the JM game more let me know more about it.

There wasn't any big thing, more of a general attitude change. I have to want this and believe I can make exercise and eating mostly right a priority. So far this week its gone well. OP = On Program. Basically just keeping with your program or staying on your Program. So if you have an OP day, it means you suceeded.

In this case it is on-program. But it can also mean original post & original poster and sometimes even other poster. Just depends on the context.

::yes:: thats what I meant. On Program. As I was this past week.
I'm down 1.4 lbs.
Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I think the positive change I made this week is not to let me self be overwhelmed. I tend to try for perfection and have realized that I need to take it one day/one meal at a time. And that this is for life.

Way to go to all of us no matter what the scale shows.

What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

One positive change is that I have been making myself drink a glass of water prior to having any treat (ie hershey kiss (just one), chocolate covered cherry - left from Christmas, etc.). This has made me reduce the number of treats as I am full of water!

I hope this is posted the right place -- maybe I was suppose to reply in the big thread????

You came to the right place! Great job on drinking hte water and resisting the snacks. That is a huge step! :thumbsup2

My positive change has been to up my water intake and keep my food journal! They're tied together in my mind because writing everything down makes me remember my water!! :thumbsup2

Congratulations on the tracking and the water. It sounds like you are already getting a jumpstart on our COW! :yay:

Good Friday morning everyone.
I am happy to say that I lost 2 pounds this week. I have still been eating leftover goodies from the holidays, but I am slowly getting back into the zone.
QOTD - A positive change I made this week was to start writing down what I was eating. Even though I ate more than necessary, I was able to get 5 or more servings of veggies/fruits each day.
Have a great weekend everyone! Thanks to all the people behind the scenes who are making this challenge possible. :)

:cheer2: Congratulations on the weight loss, and getting in the fruits and veggies!

Good morning I am happy to report a 1.4 lb loss. Not much but it was hard to get into the healthy eating until I went back to school on Monday. I too was getting rid of a lot of leftovers from the holidays.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I am journaling my exercise and this week I plan to start to journal my eating. I step at a time.

Congrats to all the losers.

Good luck to all those running the marathon this weekend.

What do you mean not much? 1.4 is an awesome weight loss! Did you know that a typical (and healthy) weight loss is between .5 and 2 lbs a week. I know many women who hav trouble just losing a half pound a week. 1.4 is amazing and don't tell yourself otherwise! :woohoo:

My scale says I'm the same - which is hard to believe. I'll know for sure when I weigh in at WW tomorrow. I'm hoping I need to buy a new scale.

My positive change is: I've been working out every day. This week it was 20 minutes on the treadmill and 10 to 15 min. on my Wii Fit. I plan to increase my numbers each week.

I need to incorporate more water now - my next challenge.

Your weight can fluctuate from day to day, or even thoughout the same day. Let us know how the weigh in goes tomorrow. Wishing you luck. :wizard:

Good morning!
I won't weigh in til Monday, so I'm anxious about getting thru the weekend, esp since it's DH's birthday AND the Giants game on Sunday, so there will be lots and lots of temptations.

Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I am tracking all of my points and exercise online (at the WW website). I am measuring out my portions with my food scale and measuring cups/spoons. I hope to exercise 6 times this week (4 so far). And I am drinking more water. I wasn't drinking other stuff during the day, just not really enough water.

Oh, and also this week I have tried to reduce my sodium intake as much as possible as well as cut out alcohol and caffiene.

Have a great weekend everyone, and wish me luck for Sunday! :)

Great job on the tracking and measuring. I'm sure it will pay off on Sunday. Good luck! popcorn::

This week, I managed to do my wii fit body test every day....even the days that I had to leave early to get the kids to school by 7:00. Next week, I will track my water, and try to up the intensity of my workouts a bit. I lost 0.9 lb this week. Not much, but I'll take it! ::yes::

I'll offer congratulations to those who have already posted-loss, same or gain, it doesn't matter! It is the posting that makes us accountable. Have a great weekend everyone. We are on our weigh!

Great job making time for your workouts. That is definitely one of the hardest things we have to do. Keep up the good work!

I hvae lost 2.1 pounds :cool1:

My positive change is tha I have excercised for at least 25 minutes on the treadmill everyday. As for the water challenge, I am really lucky that I have always drank a lot of water and I drink far more than 8 glasses of water a day.

Congrats to all of the losers!

2.1?! CONGRATULATIONS! You go girl! :worship:

I lost 2lbs! :cool1: It may not be the 15lbs that they lose on the show but it means 2lbs less of me that I need to carry around, and I am happy about that!

The positive thing that I have done this week is drink more water (which is a stretch for me since I really don't like it) and journaled my WW points.

Now if I can only keep up with this thread!

Have a great weekend!

Excellent job on the weight loss, and great job on journalling the points. You are on your way! :dance3:

My positive changes have been to add water to my schedule. I NEVER drink water normally. It will be more challenging this weekend since I won't be at work with my water bottle sitting in front of me. Also I have started trying to eat better and exercise also. So far so good.

2.1?! CONGRATULATIONS! You go girl! :worship:

I have a WW scale and it measures .1-.9. I know it sounds weird, but the .1 makes me feel better. LOL

Down 3.2 lbs. for the week. :cool1:

My greatest change this past week has been getting up at 5am to workout before work. Treadmill for 45 minutes. My goal is to do 3 miles in that 45 minutes right now I can only do 2.3 miles.

I love water so this weeks COW will be a breeze.

Finding my pedometer will be the real challenge. I has to be somewhere in that junk drawer I have in the kitchen.

:cheer2: (I copied my post from the end of the other thread...)

I LOVE my Omron pedometer! Unfortunately my battery died and I finally got another one and now I can't find the back of the ped. to put it back together. My FIL got one on my recommendation and he loves it too.

Melanie - I would say you can adapt the water challenge to your needs...the goal is to get healthier, no to get ourselves sick. Just sip away with what you can tolerate.

For everyone who's having setbacks, in the BL Success Stories Bernie (remember cute little Bernie? ) says something to the effect of "I celebrate all of my little successes, but I also celebrate all of my little failures because they give me room to improve." So that's a great perspective!

For me, I've changed from looking at my goal of 25 pounds for this challenge to what I'm going to do today, and only for today. That's really helped me. I'm going to eat healthy today, or even "for lunch."

Last night I got home and found out I'd forgotten to turn the crockpot on so I was ready to call for pizza. DD, 10, says (insert angry voice) "I thought we were eating healthy!" so I said "You don't want pizza?" And she says, "I didn't say that, just I thought we were eating healthy." Her saying that was enough to guilt me into defrosting some chicken and cooking up some yummy asparagus and rice. Gotta love the kids.

Oops forgot to add - Melanie, I have the BL Family Cookbook and there's some good stuff in there. I also light "cook it lightly and forget it" for the crockpot. What cookbooks do you guys like?

I'm down 2.6 pounds!

I'm super bummed out right now. I went to the GYN on Tuesday and was told I had an inguinal hernia. She sent me to my regular doc who I saw today. He said he thinks its an incisional hernia from where I've had two C-sections (thats why I went to the GYN first...). NO lifting weights from now until SIX WEEKS after the surgery!!!!!!!!!!!! I pled my case to him about how I'm addicted to working out and feel better than I ever have. I asked him if it would be OK to workout with my trainer standing right there. He said only if he lifts the weights for you :rotfl2: I can still do cardio for now... I'm waiting to hear from the surgeons office. The surgery won't be until atleast February.

"In the bigger scheme of things, six weeks isn't really that long" said my doctor!!! I was ready to cry right there in the office! It's funny to think if I was told this last year I wouldn't have worried about it at all. PLUS I will be out of work for three weeks! I'm self employed and have no sick days accrued... If tomorrow wasn't weigh in day I'd have myself a bottle of wine and have a pity party.

I'm in 2nd place at the gym's BL contest, for now. There are three more weigh ins. I was doing 200 crunches on my workout days. Do you think they were too much?? :confused3

Thanks for letting me vent. Unfortunately, I have a feeling this isn't the end of my venting...

My first week. Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I am eating a ton more vegetables. And did any of you go through this "gastric experience" when you changed your eating habits? Let's just say it's a good thing I have a private office and sleep alone. :lmao:

I lost 1.9. Not sure why it's not a full 2 (I think I was holding my breath on the scale--how much does air weigh??? ;) )

I started a WISH Journal: I will copy my first post to share so feel free to keep with me. I intend to post weekly so any help, advice, etc. would be appreciated.

My goal was to be able to make it through Disney without the use of an ecv in May. My PT looked at me like I was crazy but said 'Well, that's a goal". He also said I can come by and use the treadmill ANYTIME (without charge).

Anyway: my first journal entry:

Downsizing--Matronly Queen to Princess
________________________________________
Okay--who am I kidding? I will probably never see "princess size" again.

But I started this week.

Let's see: after 4 days of eating weight watcher meals (with a side of veggies) for lunch and dinner I realized I am going to have to start cooking again. I can not live on only prepared foods. Plus my BP SOARED. So--searching online for recipes and friends at work are bringing in WW cookbooks.

After eating veggies for a few days I realized that my body is just not used to them. Let's just say some gastro upsets were frequent this week.

Proud of myself: today I actually tried some black beans. I didn't throw up and they actually were ok. So I will add them to the list of things "I will eat but not too often".

Excercise: 30 minutes of Richard Simmons on Sunday, 30 minutes of walking Tuesday and Thursday. PLUS I got off the elevator one floor before mine and walked the steps at least once every day (two flights).

Bad days: Wed. the girls went out for Chinese for lunch. I couldn't figure out EXACTLY how many points are in that da** food plus I know it's high in sodium so I stayed behind and ate my WW. Wed. afternoon at our monthly staff meeting we had cake for the January birthdays (of which I am one) and I didn't eat any. Today--we had a King Cake and I didn't have any of that either. (I am saving my bad girl day for my birthday!!!! )

So I made it through a week.

Now on to week two.

Cyber hugs to all my new friends at WISH.

May you never meet a calorie you can't pass by.

That's a great way to look at it - to change what you can do for today and only today. It's so true - its only the here and now you have control over and sometimes when we look at the big picture we get overwhelmed.

Good job from your DD for making you eat healthy instead of going to get pizza.

I can't wait to get that cookbook. I have the other BL cookbook too. I have a lot of cookbooks, I tend to collect them......unfortunately I don't take the time to cook from them as often as I should. A few of my favorites are the Clean eating cookbooks by Tosca Reno (I eat clean and I try to cook using only clean ingredients, nothing artificial or processed. Like I don't use canned soups, bullion cubes, bottled dressings, mayo, etc.) and the Food you Crave by Ellie Krieger. I also subscribe to the Clean Eating magazine.

Oh wow - surgery sucks. I'm sure you'll be glad to get better though. I'm curious - what kind of symptoms do you have with a hernia? I've been getting these charlie horse type pains under my left rib cage lately. I'm not sure what that is about. I have to stiffen up and push my stomach out to get it to feel better. It hasn't happened in a few days, but there for about a week it was a few times a day or at least once a day.

My first week. Friday's Question of the Day: What is one positive change you made the first week of the challenge?

I hold my breath too - as if the weight of my air in my body will make me weigh more, lol :rolleyes1

I usually start a new diet eating a few frozen meals for lunch till I get into the groove and remember the things I ate to lose weight. I usually try to make a little extra for dinner and have extra's the next day for lunch. I also have a whole arsenal of quick dinner's (or lunches when I'm home) that I can make in a pinch on our "fend for yourself nights". These are things I can make in just a few minutes. There are a lot of things. You can also cook on the weekends and freeze some things.

Go slow with the fiber and veggies because your tummy isn't used to it. It can take some time for you to adjust.

Black beans are so yummy. I eat them all the time. I make some quick dinners and make refried beans - I mash them up and throw some homemade fresh salsa in them. Yummo - Throw an avocado on top or throw some corn tortillas in the oven and place that on top of the toritillas. Make a quesadilla and throw it on top. Throw the whole black beans with some corn into a tortilla. Add some sasa, avocado and rice. - I could go on and on - black beans are so awesome. Black bean soup is great too.

Keep up the great job! That is great that your PT said you could use the treadmill for free!!
