Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

OK - so when did your DD get old enough to drive. I thought she was younger than my DD16, but I bet they were about the same age- That was 4 years ago that I got to meet your family. My DD hit another car in my car and she hasn't driven sense. I gotta get her back out there, she is sort of afraid to now, lol. Great job on the exercise today!

I know, it just doesn't seem possible. She turned 16 on Dec 15, got her license on the 17th and just this week has driven out by herself. The traffic around here was just crazy during Christmas plus she got sick and didn't feel like driving then she was away for a few days. I did much better today when she drove out.

I'm sure she would be the same way if she were in an accident, maybe over time your DD will feel better about giving it another try.

Okay, reading this thread has given me the push I am going to need to get serious about my weight loss and exercise. I have been saying I'm going to do it for a couple of months now, but I never actually put forth the effort to do it. This time is going to be different. I weigh more than ever, and it is definitely time to take action. I have no clothes that fit, and I refuse to buy more. So I guess I'll start going naked or loose weight! I think loosing weight will the the way to go!!!!

Tomorrow morning I will weigh and officially join the challenge.

Hi everyone.

Just getting back on line and back to work today.

Funeral was yesterday.

We went to a house party on New Year's Eve and to my in laws for fish chowder on New Years Day.

Drove home in a blinding snowstorm on New Years Day (in the night) and I was not feeling well. Ate, quite frankly, like a pig. Totally out of control.

Got home and the next day was out cold with stomach flu.

Doing well again today, but I never want to feel like that again.

So my goals for the challenge:

a) Never eat out of control - if you bite it, you write it - regardless of the points;

b) Contact trainer by the weekend and follow pace training program (trainer and I are playing phone tag);

c) Weigh in each week and report here next week.

Believe me, if I do all of this I will have surpassed my success rate of each previous challenge I have been part of.

Someone very close to me is battling another kind of eating disorder - the polar opposite of mine. When "sick" I am totally out of control - this individual controls every morsel.

I avoid scales like the plague when "sick" - this person is on it nearly every hour.

I act like a sanctimonious dieter in public when "sick" yet sneak sweets in my bra. One time I tried to gobble birthday cake before someone got in the room and had it all over my face. This individual pretends to "eat" yet often really eats nothing for days. I have thrown my coat on over my nightgown, went out in the cold and bought scores of junk food at a local store - pretending I was buying it for someone else and ate every bite.

This individual, is a compulsive baker and eats nary a bite.

This individual is working hard on the issues and is in treatment. My feeling is that if this individual can get control, maybe I can too.

I would never burden this person or their loved ones with my problems, they have enough of their own, but my feeling is that if they can get control maybe I can, finally, too.

Then I will tell them how they inspire me.

That is my focus - that is what I need you guys for.

Weigh in tomorrow (missed Tuesday's class due to funeral and could not go today - a severe ice storm).

I will report in again then.

Have a "magical losing week" guys.

Linda

Good evening everyone! I was so excited to see this thread starting, and I signed up in the very beginning. Life has a funny way of getting in the way, though, and I haven't had a chance to check in before today. I can't promise that I'll ever remember everyone's names, etc., but I will make the effort. :)

Friday's Question - What is your specific measurable goal for this 12 week challenge? My goal is a loss of 24 pounds (2 per week). More importantly, I have a goal of establishing a consistent exercise routine of 30 minutes each day...no excuses.

Explain your DIS screen name. When I joined the DIS in 2000, my family consisted of DH (Sam) and DD (Samantha). Luvmy2sams seemed the obvious choice. We were blessed with DS a few years later, but he doesn't DIS yet so he doesn't feel excluded. :rotfl:

As for me, I got bad news yesterday at work and as such skipped the gym. My company is going out of business. We are a laboratory, so it will take us a few months to shut down operations and actually close, but still I don't want to be in the job market in this economy! We will find out time-lines and such on the 27th when the Board of Directors meet (we are a non-profit). Lets just say it kinda killed my week!

So sorry that you are in a tough situation right now. We are watching DH's job and keeping our fingers crossed. I will send happy thoughts your way!:flower3:

Well, I've been here before...had some success...some failures...you all know how it goes.;)

But I am back and would like to join the BL7 challenge.:thumbsup2
My goal is 20 pounds for the length of the challenge.

I have a big year ahead - Alaskan cruise in June, My sis-in-law's wedding in November, which I am singing at, and a week long Thanksgiving trip to WDW. So I really need to get some of this extra weight off!!

Laura
Hi Laura!:wave2: So glad to see you back! You can so do it! You have lots to look forward to, and I know you can hit that 20 pound challenge!:thumbsup2

Morning WISHer friends and "hi" to all those I haven't met yet. Grammy here -
I am off to tm - so more later - WISHing everyone a great day

Hi Bev! So glad to see you too! You always have a special way to pick everyone up, and so glad you are here for us to support you too! How was the treadmill?
:woohoo: :woohoo: WTG Vija, i know that is difficult for you. I liked the suggestions of the lean burgers and homemade 'fries'...that sounds soooo delish! too bad my grill is getting snowed on as i type. do you have Whole Foods or a grocery with nice variety of 'natural' foods? I have been buying Alexia All Natural Oven Reds - they are wedges of potatos that are seasoned. my fam loves the rosemary ones! or I have made my own cutting potatoes and seasoning with Emeril's Essence.

i wish i had more time, but i have much to do as everyone else does. I heard a rumor that Karebear1 joined?? the chart also notes that if you weigh under 150 lbs, plan to eat around 1,050 cal/day; if you are over 300 lbs plan to eat 2,100 cal/day

That is a good idea about doing the toasted potato wedges in the oven, I can so do that! And yes, Karebear joined! SHe is on vacation right now.

Thanks for posting the chart. I know I have that book somewhere at home, I just don't know where I put it:rolleyes: But so glad to see the numbers, I am shooting for about the range the book puts me, so that is good.

I just requested to join, my first time, whoo-hoo!!:)

I need something to keep me accountable week to week, and I hope this will do the trick. I was thin my whole life until I started taking the Shot (same thing as the Pill if you didn't know) and started gaining weight like crazy without realizing it.
:welcome: and good luck! I know you will do a great job, this group is very supportive. ANd I just have to say I LOVE your quote in the signiture... it is from one of my favorite movies... Is it yours too? It is from Ever after...

"And though Cinderella and her prince did live happily ever after, the point, gentleman, is that they lived."

LOVE that!:thumbsup2

Hugs to you my friend, sounds like it has been tough going for you for a bit. But you know what? You coming here and posting is the first of many baby steps that you are going to take to conquer this challenge. follow through with you goals. I have complete faith in you. I highlited in red, part of your goal statement. I KNOW you can do it! Focus on yourself, you are so busy with your career, don't forget about you. AND YOU WILL CONQUER THAT DISNEY HALF, and YOU WILL BE ABLE TO WEAR THAT MEDAL PROUDLY ABOUT YOUR NECK!!!!

IF YOU CAN DREAM IT YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT!... now put those baby steps in motion and I'll see your pic at the finish line!:donald: :donald: :donald:

Wow, this thread is hopping!:hyper:

Have to tell you a proud mom moment! We have an old Disney tape that was a promo done in the late '80's I think. It starts with Mickey, Minnie, pluto, donald and daisy all discussing their vacations and they did "backyard" vacations and show highlights from the 3 parks at the time. I LOVE watching this show before we go to Disney to get my excitement up, and I just heard the tell tale music from the tape...DD is downstairs watching it right now! Just hearing the music gets me in the Disney mood and makes me smile.:goodvibes Did I raise a Great Disney Fan or what???!princess:

Ok, now back to business! LOL! I am still doing pretty good. I am not following any plan right now, just trying to eat less, snack less and avoid chips and McDonalds. I am being successful. It isn't perfect, I still have too much butter, and soda, but I am working my way down the list of bad habbits and changing a few at a time so it can be something I can live with for a long time. So, I guess I can say I am being successful at my plan right now. And I am getting in plenty of exercise as well.

I had a success at work today... We had Panera bread sandwhiches catered in (a Doctor was so nice to buy us lunch) and I had a great sandwhich, absolutely DELICIOUS bread, and an extremely chocolatey cookie... and guess what I didn't have???? the chips! Everyone was grabbing a bag of chips and discussing how good they are. It was a struggle, I did wish I could have a bag, but didn't take any. I am proud of that one mini triumph. :woohoo:

To answer the question about the big long thread versus doing weekly threads. We decided to try a long thread, because on Thursdays many people didn't get responses because the new thread started the next day, and not only that, often times people posts weren't even read because with the new thread up, people often jumped to the next weeks thread. Soon Thursday posts were significantly decreased and that went into Wednesday as well. So this way we figured the posts would have a good chance of being read and responded too. We may have to close this thread if it gets too long, but one long thread allows people a chance to have their post read and responded too.

Hope that helps.

:cheer2: Welcome to the newcomers. Keep on the track, everyone. It all begins with a small step forward!

Linda....you WILL get that Donald, I promise!

Vija, I don't have any chips for you, but how about some strawberries?

congratulations-animated-strawberry.gif

Ohhh YUMMMM! Those are my favorite fruit! I can't wait till spring because there are NO strawberries around here that are good. All moldy in the store. But I will take yours anyday!:thumbsup2

So far so good today. My food is in check. Dinner will be a small portion of pasta and lots of veggies. My issue is getting in protein. We don't eat a lot of meat, usually only when we go out and maybe once per week at home.

Tonight I will do 3 miles watp/walk at home dvd and 30 mins on the treadmill. I have a variety of the walk at home dvd's including the new 5 mile that was mentioned. I like them all they are may be the same "basic" moves but each one has a different feel to them. Some add boosters (weights, bands, etc) to kick it up & some include jogging intervals. The variety is great.

I also really enjoy having the treadmill since I can not walk out side anymore due to hip/groin injury. The jarring the pavement puts on the joint causes too much pain. But the treadmill has "step cushion" that flexes as you walk, which helps a lot. I do miss being able to go outside and walk though.

Going good today- Calories in the 1250 range today, and even had a great smoothie a few minutes ago. (1 cup yogurt, 140g frozen blueberries, 1/2 frozen banana, 1tps cinnamon, 11g almonds) -yummy!

DD16 lost 10lbs when she was sick the past few days - She was so sick that I would never want to be sick like that - but wow 10lbs in 3 days hmm -really though, I don't think I could handel being that sick.

Keep up the good work everyone -

This is my first time being in this, so maybe I'm just confused. On the first page it mentions a weekly challenge. Is that something that is posted here or in another thread, or where do I find this?

Thanks in advance.

Today was good, but the frozen Mexican for dinner did not agree with me! YIKES! Either that or I am dying from the class at the Y this evening. Monday she was "nice" today she was "wicked" I think it's the class that's killing me!

I am trying to pack for my weekend at Disney followed by a week on the road....umm. Everything I own seems to be in this suitcase. I am paranoid about this race. I have running skirts, tights, short sleeves, long sleeves, blanket, ponchos, jacket.... Unless it snows I am ready to run LOL!

Off to bed. I am going to weigh tomorrow since I won't be near my home scales Friday. My personal thoughts are that as long as I weigh about the same time on the same scales I should be pretty consistent and able to tell how I am doing!

Everyone behave this weekend!

Holy Buckets, Batman!!! I managed to make it through most of the thread, but I finally had to skip to the end to post because I have got to get to bed. It sounds like lots of you are doing a fantastic job staying on plan and getting your exercise in.

I've been having a great week. I haven't managed to get up early to exercise, so I've been fitting it in after work. Luckily, my school started a wellness program where you get to submit your name one time for every 1/3 of a mile you walk. If your name is drawn, you win cash....getting fit and getting paid. I can handle that!

I have to get to bed, but I just wanted to say that I'm really impressed by all of the hard work you've been doing. I can't wait to see the results of the weigh-in on Friday. I bet some of you will be posting some big numbers.

Big hugs to those of you who are struggling...hang in there, it gets easier.
Have a great rest of the week.
Jen

Just wanted to send Magical Wishes and Pixie Dust :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to all of you participating in the upcoming Disney Marathon weekend events! Whether it's watching a kids race, doing the 5K, the 1/2, the full, the Goofy or being one of those inspirational people on the sidelines ... have a MAGICAL TIME! It's an event of a lifetime that you will come away from very proud. :goodvibes

Looking forward to some great reports, that I know will bring a few tears to my eyes as I remember back to 2005. :lovestruc

Have fun ... safe travels.

This is my first time being in this, so maybe I'm just confused. On the first page it mentions a weekly challenge. Is that something that is posted here or in another thread, or where do I find this?
I do not believe that we have a challange this first week. The challanges will be posted to this thread usually on Thursday for a Friday start date (correct me if I am wrong). So keep an eye out for them.

Thanks for all of the support. I guess I was just having an off day yesterday. Today was much better. I think it helped that last night I went through and cleaned up the kitchen a bit. I also journalled my dinner before I left school today, which made me feel obligated to eat it even though I overslept my nap. I also made my omelette for tomorrow morning in advance so I can just pop it in the microwave. I am not a morning person! Since I live alone, I cooked up several portions then divided it out to make multiple meals, which also helps a lot.

I'll be weighing in tomorrow and while I am not confident that I've lost weight since my last weigh in (Christmas Eve), I do think I have lost since last week which is a start.

How did I get my screen name. I'm Gabby's Mom.

My DD Gabrielle is keeping me busy around the house. I've had a couple of stumbling days as I'm new to eating healthy but it's bound to happen. I jump back on and keep moving.

 Oh I just checked I've lost 3 lb since the first. Yay me:banana:
