Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hey, PA people! This is strange, must be something in the air here that we're all Disney nuts! I'm from Lancaster County.
Have any of you attended the Magic Meet? I've gone every year but the first. It's held in Camp Hill in the summer. Anyone can go, but it sells out quickly, and it's a blast!
Sorry if I'm off topic :rolleyes2

Nope - never been to the meet - sounds very fun. Would love to hear more info.

This is just what I needed to come here and be inspired by everyone who is doing so well this week. Good for you Melanie, and you will do awesome at the competitions this weekend. I am going to climb back in that wagon right now!!

Great job jumping back in - I hope your doing great today and back in that wagon!!

Thanks donac! :) The Dis and facebook is keeping me on the couch too much, but I did get up and exercise for 40 minutes (with dd's "encouragement").

WOo hoo for the exercise- Facebook can be fun huh!!

That is true it is nice now. I used to go to WW in Quakertown, Saturday Am or Thurs Am. Have you ever been?

I haven't been to the Thursday one, but I have done the Saturday AM ones a few years back.

morning everyone -- again i have fallen far behind in our post -- life (sigh)

today i'm down 1.2 pounds and happy to report it!

Pat yourself on the back Losers, you have perservered and honored your commitment to this challenge!

Cyber high five to our losers this week; :grouphug: to any gainers than a swift kick of tough love -- let's make this next week count!!

Good Friday Morning everyone

Don't forget to send your weigh in to dare2dream and your COW to raenstoirm.

I know Carla was having problems with her computer so I don't know about a COW this week but you should keep doing what you have been doing.

I am up about .6 this week but the beginning of the week was not good for eating or exercising so I will take it. I have been more consistent the end of this week so that is a great to start for next week.

Have a great day everyone.

Question of the Day
Villian or Princess which are you?
What is the character you most relate to?

I always say
tmb_f20a3a.jpg
I kind of look like her....short and squat. And with 5 kids (and a wandering DH), I always felt like I needed 8 arms. Plus, I would love to have the musical talents of my kids! All of them have perfect pitch and fabulous voices. (The youngest two go to Church and sing harmony in my ears just to get me off tune. Brats! )

OT kind of. Does anyone else miss the Villains dinner at 1900 Park Faire? That was one of my favourite dinners!

I lost 1.4 pounds this week. Go figure. Last week I was great with the treadmill and fine with food and I gained. This week I did only 30 minutes of total treadmill time and ate fine and I lost weight. I don't care why it happened. I am really happy with the loss.

I'm not sure how I did it, but managed to actually lose 1 lb. this week, even with the Super Bowl, and DS's 5th B-day party, this past Saturday and Sunday. The pizza did call my name a couple more times that I should have allowed, and I did have a few pieces of cake over several days. I've also just been quite sick since Monday, and haven't done much exercising. Last night I could only go about 15 of the 40 minutes in our basketball game, because I was having problems breathing.

I guess with my persistent cough, making my throat raw, I was very conscious about what I ate this week, because it hurt to swallow.

I should blame myself. Before this week started, I told my wife, I'll need to get the stomach flu in order to lose this week with the parties going on.

:rotfl2:

I reported weight. I am down and it's a -2 pound report! I'll take that. Now I've got to get through the weekend and not celebrate the loss.

Thanks Melanie, and good luck this weekend.

I did better eating yesterday, but one day on program does not cut it. I am up 2.4 as expected, and next week I will see that weight gone.

Congratulations to all who have lost this week! :cool1: Hugs to those who gain or maintain.:grouphug: Hang in there! Next week will be better.

Good morning losers!:sunny:

I am the coach for this week, and am looking forward to it. Actually I would say I am your cheerleader! :cheer2: Just an FYI, I am on call this weekend, so I might not get to the responses right away, but I will get to them.

Thanks to DonaC for coaching last week.

I know we have some new members… WELCOME! Hope you find it a happy place here. In case some of the new members aren’t sure of the weight report and COW procedure I have copied the info from the beginning of the thread for you.

The weight report
* Your weight report is due each Friday.
* You may PM or email your report. My email is brenda@kbelectric.biz. If using email please include your DIS name.
* Report your weigh in pounds ie xxx or xxx.x.
* Carefully review your weight before you send your message to me. PLEASE make sure the weight is typed correctly. Is that 166 or 156? Are you at 174 or 177? Misspelling is forgivable, typos happen, let's just make sure they don't happen with those numbers in your weight.
* Weight reports are required to remain in the challenge. After three weeks of no reports you are dropped from the challenge. After being dropped from the challenge you may return by reporting your current weight.

The COW
* Raenstoirm will post the challenge of the week on our BL7 thread.
* Not every week will involve a challenge.
* Participation in the weekly challenge is optional.
* Each challenge will clearly state a beginning date, ending date, and date your points total is due.
* Each challenge will include tasks to preform and point values awarded for accomplishing the tasks.
* It is helpful to print the challenge tasks to refer to throughout the week.
* Points totals may be PMed to Raenstorim or emailed to ferretfeet@gmail.com. If using email please include your DIS name.
* Rainstoirm will recognize on our BL7 thread those earning the top point totals.

So how is everyone doing? Hopefully your resolve is staying strong and we can do great things this week.

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?

I am down 2 pds this week and am so glad...after a week of no loss I was ready to see a smaller number this week.

I have been doing fine with the COW except getting in 10K steps each day...unless it is the day we go to the track and walk, I just can't seem to get the 10K. Will keep trying though.

Not much time on the computer this morning so this is short. Have a great Friday everyone and make the weekend count!!!

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?

WOW! What a question.
I would say that my jorney has taught me that I HAVE to have a goal besides the weight!

This kind of pre-dates this "thread" but I have figured out that for me to keep working out there has to be a goal besides "weight" So I just keep signing up for races. Did the Disney half, next weekend I do the Breast Cancer Half, March is the Princess, April is Country Music, July is Peachtree and so on....

I am still working on how to "tweak" the eating while traveling. Some days I do really well and some weeks are a disaster. Actual flight days are really tempting LOL!

I am down the half a pound I gained over my "bad" weekend this week. So hopefully there will be another small drop next week!

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?
__________________
I have begun to believe those people who told me that I am not eating enough when I excercise. That point was proven the past 2 week when I lost only when I did not excercie. I have to tweak the way I eat when I excercise. My question is:

How do I figure out how much more to eat? I am on WW and I am only supposed to add 1 point for the amount of excerice that I do but that doesn't seem to be working.

Congratulations to those who lost and chin up to those who gained. I know how you feel, but it's a new week. Keep on pushing forward.

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?
I really need to get the exercise portion bumped up. I now have a lose one week and maintain one week cycle. I am hoping exercise will take care of that. I need that to reach my goal next month.

Pianogirl, maybe add two points for when you exercise. A nutritutionist told me that sometimes you have to bump up the calorie intake a little to get the weight to start coming off again when you get stuck. Has to do with adjusting. Good luck and good job!

This was a maintaining week and the COW stepped on me several times. Will keep perservering!

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?

I am down 1.4 lbs this week. :cool1: Which is about what I was expecting. I have this new gadget called the GoWear Fit (it is a lot like a Body Bugg) and it monitors how many calories I burn, how many steps I take, how much sleep I'm getting. It's pretty cool. But it has made me realize how unrealistic it is to think I could lose 2 lbs a week on anything like a regular basis. The food is in check with WW, the activity, well, it's hard for me to burn more than 750 extra calories a day. And I'm OK with that, for now.

Something that has made an impresion on me this time around is: There's this quote from the show Ruby about a woman weighing 400+ lb. trying to lose weight - have you seen that one? One of the doctors says to her after she's been on their meal plan for a few weeks "When we're in charge of what you eat - not Ruby, when WE are in charge - Ruby loses weight." Now I don't have doctors in charge of my meal plan and I'm not eating pre-portioned food like she is, BUT it rang true to me that following my own inclinations, I will not lose weight. I have to follow a plan. I think that's kept me on track with the logging - which I have traditionally hated.

I've been loving doing some exercise videos along with the regular running I've been doing. I feel like I'm getting stronger. I do need to get more running in - it's happening but not as much as I would like. It will be more appealing when the spring weather gets here....in another 3 months, who am I kidding?? :lmao:

Question of the Day (Thursday)
Villian or Princess which are you?
What is the character you most relate to?

I don't think I'm a Villain or a Princess, really. I'm more of a wacky supporting character. Friend of the Princess, I guess. Scuttle or one of those fairies in Sleeping Beauty or Grandmother Willow or Cinderella's busybody mice friends. Lately, I feel most like Scuttle.

:goodvibes Good morning! I didn't do very well with food for the first half of the week, and not enough exercising, so I was up 1.3lbs this week. Which nicely leads into the QOTD. I'm disappointed, but not surprised and I know where I blew it, so learn from it and move on.

What works for me is to leave the bad food (like pop) out except for once a week. And I know that I need to get enough sleep, when I'm lacking sleep, I'm lacking motivation and so I don't eat as well, or do enough exercise.

Thanks to donac for being a coach!

I was down .9, could not squeeze a pound out of my bladder! I did ok this week with the COW, I am looking to bump up the activity for next week and attempt to get back to WW.

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?

Having the COW works for me because I think of it as a task list for the day, if I get all of those things in it has been a good day, and sidebar, I'm not so hungry.

I have learned that the superbowl is not an excuse to eat crap.

I would like to tweak my activity, get more muscle building in so that I can burn more calories.

Hi to everyone. I'm having a lot of problems keeping up with you guys. I have a regular thread on here so at times it is overwhelming. I do read all the time.

So :cheer2: to all the losers and maintainers. And for those who gained hang in there. Everyone has gains on a weight loss journey.

I'm down another 1 and beyond thrilled. I snuck on the scale. I wasn't supposed to. I made a huge choice this week. I'll talk about that below.

Thanks Melanie, and good luck this weekend.

I did better eating yesterday, but one day on program does not cut it. I am up 2.4 as expected, and next week I will see that weight gone.

QOTD for Friday: Tell us what is working for you, what have you learned so far, and is there anything you want to “tweak” in your current plan that will help you reach your goal?

Yeah Vija. :wave2: Thank you.

What works for me. I'm a broken record. I concentrate on exercise because I like it and do it for mental health anyway. I eat everything. I decided a long time ago that I must love food. There is nothing I don't eat. In fact, I will only eat what I love whether that's healthy or unhealthy. If I just like a food won't eat it. Must be love. I don't count or measure or journal. I know these are successful tools for many. And have been proven to be. But I feel that I know myself. And I don't want it. I would think about food too much.

My motto is if I will eat in 10 years I must eat it now as I lose. It has worked. I am over 75 pounds down. Over because I spent years off the scale while I was losing. So I know 75 but I know it's much higher but don't have the proof.

I try to eat consciously - not emotionally. Fail sometimes but keep it up. And exercise.

Tweaking. :lmao: :rotfl:

I made a huge tweak this week. I am suffering from major scale burn out. Big time. I felt that I wasn't celebrating any of my success. I was becoming obsessed with numbers and my goal weight.

So I made a decision to get off the scale. This is scary. But it's been okay. I cheated and jumped on today and am down one. I guess I'll have to literally have someone take it away.

I will get back on at or near the end of the BL. I really need to celebrate the now. And when I wasn't on the scale all the time losing weight I had no choice but to celebrate the now.

All the best to everyone,

Lisa

I lost 2.8 this week - YEAH! Almost back to where I was before I gained. Sad that it takes two weeks to correct that mistake. One week of being off track and the week to fix it - Two weeks to correct one week of work. Another .2 and I'm exactly back where I was 2 weeks ago.

Friday's QOTD:

Trying to eat healthy whole foods has really been working for me. Trying to concentrate on making each bite fill a nutritional purpose.

I've learned that one week of falling off the wagon equals two -three weeks to get back to where you were. Not worth it!

For the tweaking part - Not really anything to tweak, except to remember that posting on the DISboard really makes a difference and to post even when I've fallen off the wagon.

Well I definitely need to tweak my program since I am up 1.8lbs this week:sad2: I haven't been fully committed. I am doing much better than I have in months, but not enough. I need to quit eating so much on the weekends. Even this past weekend when I did better, I went way over WW points. I need to cut way back on the sweets. When I lost weight a couple of years ago I think that was the key. I didn't eat any sweets during the week and I would allow myself something like a candy bar or split a dessert on the weekends. I am eating way to many empty calories. I also need to kick up the exercise. I am exercising 4 or 5 times a week but not the intensity/length that I need.

Congrats losers!!
