Welcome to the WISH Biggest Loser 7 Challenge

Hi, everyone!

I have had a pretty bad cold since Thursday so I still am not really on track at all. Eating hasn't been too bad. I've been snacking a lot, but mostly healthy. I haven't gotten any exercise yet though. Once I'm feeling better I'm going to get moving.

My DIS name is one that I have used ever since I started my first email account. It is from a movie Foxfire and I wanted to add "girl" to the end, but that name was taken. So I came up with "grrl". I chose it because the girls in the movie are so spunky and full of life. I am to be more like that in my day to day life.

Have a great week everyone!!

I'm sure I've told you this before. But I knew a girl who was beyond obsessed with that movie. And with Ms. Angelina at the time and her supposed off screen love interest. She wa so psyched to show us that movie. She just adored it. And used to bug the video store to sell it to her - small town Quebec - because she couldn't find it to buy anywhere back then. I smile every time I see your screen name. Ms. Jolie was such a baby, eh? I mean she looked so so young. I knew her because I saw Gia just before I saw Foxfire but she really was an unknown.

Glad to hear most of us are doing well and we are off and running. I did pretty well today. sore from the wii fit yesterday so I didn't get the exercise in. Today was a very very very busy day and it snowed so I had to leave extra early. Now to the good things I did today. I ate well and drank all my water. Yeah, that is a start after being bad for so long.

My screen name came from years ago, I did in home daycare the name of the business was hugabear daycare, so then I added my first name.

Hope Tuesday proves to be good goal days for all of us.

Smile-
Jo

Had a pretty good weekend, and a good day yesterday as far as eating, but I'm still finding it hard to get the exercise in! As soon as I get home from work, I'm spending time with DS (which I LOVE), and the evening is gone before I know it! Gotta find some time in there somewhere!

When I signed up for DIS, I didn't think I would ever post, but I thought I had to have a screen name to read. DH & I are big Stitch fans, so I picked my user name to represent our love of him! It's pretty much been shortened to SIOH, though! :thumbsup2

Didn't get on the boards yesterday but have gotten caught up replies this morning. I love reading all the reports and think it helps us all so much to be able to express our ups and downs.

I have written up my goal and have it posted.

Dis screen name...My name is Tammy and I'm from North Carolina. When I first started posting years ago, DH and I had the same screen name (JimmyTammy). Once we both started finding our own groups, etc. it got a little confusing on who was truly posting. One day I finally ask to break away and get my own screen name:thumbsup2 .

Eating has been going well, staying on track with portions and the types of food I'm eating and have been able to keep from much snacking other than a few raw almonds or chili lemon rounds. We've also been getting our exercise in, we try for two days and then a break but yesterday we knew they were calling for rain for possibly two days so we went ahead and got our third walk in. Sure glad we did, we woke to it pouring rain. I would still love to get a TM but it is on the back burner right now, if the weather turns too yucky, will have to get out some old tapes. I have truly enjoyed getting my walks in since DH has joined me in walking. It is a great way to get caught up on our day with each other and just have some time where we can discuss the kids or anything else that we don't need extra ears hearing.

Keep up the great work everyone, we have a great group!!!

I'm officially off to a good start today -- I had low sugar oatmeal and a banana for breakfast. I'm having lunch out, but planning on soup and a small salad.

I have yoga at work, then I may do some TM time when I get home. I'm supposed to do 3 mi today, but the back of my knee is bothering me. I might skip it and hope it's better tomorrow.

It's great to see everyone's reports. Who is psyched for BL7 tonight?! I can't wait! I've been telling myself to stop talking and just do it all week!

Maria

Maria

I am really looking forward to it, hoping I can get the family to join in watching with me but if not, I'll get caught up tomorrow.

ohmygoodness.....i haven't caught back up to normalness after the holidays, i'm glad you all mentioned the show tonight!

 it's great to see everyone who has come back and joined up this round! Hi Jodi, Tammy, Melanie, Ann ( i remember that morning too!) and anyone else who took a break from WISH and returned!! it gets me excited and motivated b/c we have a history of success!!

glad everyone liked the clippie well enough. thanks Mel for posting directions :thanks:

has anyone read the BL book? i won a copy from a local BL contest, not sure if it's like a first edition or the only edition, but it highlights players from seasons 1/2. from what i've read so far it looks really good. boy, their calorie ranges are low....makes sense tho for the players to lose so much weekly. i recall episodes where a trainer is on a player for not eating all their calories, now i wonder how low they must've been going! my calorie range is 1,050. yikes! not much. i have been going for 1,200. i can post the chart if anyone is interested

here's to a fantastic successful day!! :thumbsup2

Good morning everyone!! This thread has been hopping, and it's great to meet you all. I love to read about everyone's dis names, and all your goals. My dis name is boring. It was my original email name when I got a computer, only about 5 years ago, and mi- my son michael, ka- kathy, mah- mahoney. I also wish I had been more creative for the dis, but when I signed up to ask a question, prob 3 years ago, I had no idea I would become so addicted to the dis. I've been getting my exercise in every morning for the past 5 days, and am still within my ww points, but did have a binge yesterday on some little two bite strawberry cupcakes. I shouldn't have bought them, but my son loves them, and even though I ate most of them, they really were for him.:rolleyes1 I also love this multiquote thing that one of you wonderful people showed me during the last challenge. Now I can click while I'm reading something that I want to comment on. I used to take notes on a piece of scrap paper and try to remember to address it when I posted. I'm so not computer literate.
I have to admit I have been struggling with not going out to eat. I know I won't go, it isn't a matter of that, it is just thinking about it all of the time, and because of that I think I am not feeling "satisfied" during our meals and I end up snacking way more than I should. I mean WAY more than I should. I know it is baby steps, but I have to get a handle on this.

Any suggestions????

DH has made some great meals, we had chicken for lunch today, and he is making homemade chicken soup for dinner. He is a fantastic cook and I am so lucky that my DH likes to cook, as I don't really like too. Only when the mood strikes!:rotfl: Which thankfully isn't that often!:lmao: But, we are having good food, it is just a matter of getting over the feeling of "wanting and needing" to go out for fast food. :rolleyes1
Vija, you should try and have cheeseburgers and fries at home. The 93% ff beef is good, and country kitchen has light wheat rolls, and I always dress mine up with pickles and mustard. I'll also slice potatoes or sweet potatoes and brush with some olive oil, salt and pepper and bake them to make fry like potatoes. Not mcdonalds, but not bad and can help with the cravings. But of course, you should have your husband make it for you, and you can just sit down and eat it, so it's more like fast food.

Write down your goal and post it where you will see it every day. When it is posted let us know here on our thread.
This was a great suggestion, and I wrote it down on 3 post-its and put one on the fridge, the bathroom mirror, and my computer screen. It is motivating to see a reminder of our goals. If I buy those cupcakes again, I'll put it right on the box.

Right now we're fighting some kind of bug here at my house. This is actually good timing for me, my parents both have cancer and are in Orlando while I'm here in Indy, finances don't make it possible for me to leave my job and go down there, not to mention my family here, although they would definitely understand and make it through. :( Just talked to my mom and she wasn't sounding too good so it's a good time to hit the chips or something...but I don't feel well enough to eat them. So that's a good thing.
Hope you are feeling better, and I'm so sorry about your parents. My mom has multiple medical problems, and it tough when I'm in the next town over, I can't imagine how hard it is to be so far away. Hugs and prayers are coming your way. Take care.

To answer the question:: most would think my screen name is after my fav. candy...actually, when i signed up on here, my son had a guinea pig named reesecup and i couldn't think of something so that is what it was. I'm sorry if I make you guys crave one of the candies (not the guinea pig) when looking at my screen name because I know I do because it is ONE of my favorites!

Good luck this week to everyone. I'm going to try and do outdoor challenge and some wii fit this afternoon. Gotta clean this house though and that's a workout in itself!
I love your name, and when I crave those reeses cups, I'll try and think of your guinea pig instead of buying one.

my screen name -- I'm a Mom who lives in Ohio

GO BUCKS!!
We went to ohio for a wedding once, and had a blast, but on the reesescup idea, I remember going to I think it was called Big Bear supermarket and buying those peanut butter buckeye candies. They were so good. The wedding was outside columbus and we went to the columbus zoo which was awesome, and a botanical garden which was really nice too.

I know someone complained that the thread was getting too big too fast. The replies will slow down as the challenge goes on. This is my 3rd challenge and each time we do it as the weeks go by the number of replies get less and less. The last week on the Black Team we had only two or three talking and we started out with almost 40 people in the group.

If it does get too large we will think about starting a new thread but we are trying to keep the group as one group this time.

.
It is a big thread, but it's nice to see everyone, and like you said, unfortunately it will most likely die down over the weeks, and being on the smaller teams during the prior challenges in the past, it will be great to have one thread for all of us in the end. Maybe this time it weill be different and we'll all stick it out!!

Uh, Brenda. The DIS is the first chatboard that I had signed up with-way back when there was 1 page and a couple of dozen people. I didn't know I was supposed to BE creative.
:rotfl2:

How I'm doing:

I feel so much better today - thank goodness the pain and just general not feeling well went away. DD16 is not doing as good. She didn't go to school today (and great I took her out of school on 12/23 when we went to Vegas- figures), but she did eat dinner (soup) tonight. Her first meal since Saturday afternoon.

I did great with my eating yesterday, despite not feeling well. I got 4 glasses of water, but no exercise yesterday.

Today - felt better - yeah. Some good news and bad news. I exercised at lunch - 35 minute walk (2miles). The bad news was that I got a box of Godiva chocolates, but it did have the calories for them. So fine- I will eat 2 per day and work them into my calories. Unfortunately I decided to eat all 8 in the box - thank goodness it was a small box.

But the good news is - that even after eating those candies, I am still at the very low end of my calorie range and I still ate 3 square meals and two snack (be it one snack was over 500 calories of chocolate).
.
It is a great thing that we can go a little crazy, but still be ok. I so have done that, and if it's just one day, or one box of chocolates, it won't make you gain that week. It's the snowball effect, saying oh, i blew it, and totally falling off the wagon that will mess you up. Good for you for sticking to you plan. Glad you are feeling better.

Hey Samantha - welcome,

I'm about to lose a treadmill and am dreading it. I have a gym upstairs - live in a condo. And am putting my place on the market. I use the treadmill for my intervals all the time. So know how you feel. Or will know - soon.

Monday Question of the Day - Explain your DIS screen name.

My Dis name is pretty self-explanatory -- my name. I know, not too creative.

I've been doing good so far and lost a little weight and clothes a little looser. Yesterday DS, who is 9, asked if I was getting taller because I looked different. I think he was trying to be diplomatic and not say that I looked thinner . . . at least that is what I hope!
I'm such a dope. I saw the moose in both of your siggies, and thought oh, another lisa from canada. After seeing your moose Lisaviolet all these months, I thought it was a canadian thing. Now I see it's the villas at WL. Duh.

Have great losing day everyone!!

Good morning! I missed posting yesterday because my 9 year old was chatting on Miley World all evening!

My screen name is my family's initials-Scott, Sara (me), Kristi and Emily, and our last initial is M. We were married in 1996.

I'm surprised at how good I'm doing with this. I think this thread is really helping me. A pt. gave me a miniature candy bar at work last night, and I took 2 little nibbles and threw the rest away because it didn't taste good to me. Can you imagine? I threw chocolate away!

I'm very sore today. I did 40 minutes on the Wii fit for each of the last 2 days. I usually just do the aerobics and balance exercises, but I decided to do strength training yesterday, and my thighs are killing me from those lunges!

Gotta get DD ready for school. Have a good day!

My dis name is boring. It was my original email name when I got a computer, only about 5 years ago, and mi- my son michael, ka- kathy, mah- mahoney. !!

I always assumed your son was Mika and you were his "mah" (ma with a bit of a twang). I wasn't too far off, Mika is a form of Michael! ;)

As for me, I got bad news yesterday at work and as such skipped the gym. My company is going out of business. We are a laboratory, so it will take us a few months to shut down operations and actually close, but still I don't want to be in the job market in this economy! We will find out time-lines and such on the 27th when the Board of Directors meet (we are a non-profit). Lets just say it kinda killed my week!

Good Morning!! :sunny:

It's a brand new day! Take it one day at a time on this journey..celebrate the successes, and forget about the failures..focus on what good things we are going to accomplish THIS day!! :thumbsup2

THANK YOU SO MUCH for mentioning that BL is on tonight!! I tend to not watch a lot of TV..just TiVo shows that I am interested in..so would not have missed the beginning!! :thanks: :goodvibes

My work-out from yesterday has left me completely exhausted and sore. I can barely climb my stairs this morning, my legs and arms are too sore. But I'm sticking to my diet. I had a slice of wheat toast and fruit. :thumbsup2

I got laid off this summer so I know it's scary! I am lucky in that I work in a field that's still fairly marketable even in this economy, but....

Several years ago I quit a job without having one (Boss from you know where) and I kept repeating that saying from Sound of Music.
"When the Lord closes a door, somewhere he opens a window" And it's worked out for me both times!

Good luck!

AFM, yesterday was good. The gym was PACKED. People were circling the parking lot like there was a giant 90% off sale! LOL! Class was good and she was gentle due to the newbies.

It's 10 am and I haven't had breakfast. Guess it's time.

I hope to go jog today, but I am in the "waiting" pattern. I work at home when I don't travel so today the contractor is coming to see what he can do about my fireplace and fix a leak in my tub. The damper is broken on the fireplace. (Heck it's been broken for four years LOL!) And now that I work at home I realize the living room is COLD because of this! No telling how much it's costing me in heat!

Have a good day!

Oh My - What a big thread you have there... she says in her best little red riding hood voice

Anyway - miss a day a half and it take an hour to catch up! I posted my goal on the bathroom mirror and inside the refridg, and inside the cupboard where most of the snacks, crackers, etc are stashed.

My screen name is rather boring- I was having an identity crisis over not feeling like a mom and like I was really faking it and that would all come tumbling down so I'm a mom from NJ to 3 girls who is a bit of a rebel and it became njmom23grls.

Of course now that identity crisis is long gone! :rotfl:

Hi, everyone!

I have had a pretty bad cold since Thursday so I still am not really on track at all. Eating hasn't been too bad. I've been snacking a lot, but mostly healthy. I haven't gotten any exercise yet though. Once I'm feeling better I'm going to get moving.

Well, I have been in the same boat and work is not helping at all! (I'm an accountant). I have been watching what I eat and writing down (at the end of the day, I'm shocked at food type and amount, so there is a lot to work with:rotfl2: Once this cold subsides a little, I hope to get back to the gym in the evening.

Good morning!

I had a pretty good day yesterday. I did my Jillian Michaels Wii game for the first time. I'm not sure if I was doing it right, but boy was I out of breath:rotfl:

I do eat out a lot. I am going to try eating at home a couple of days a week and build from there. I am also making better choices of what I eat and the amounts. Last night I had a 6 inch sandwich from Subway, but skipped the chips I usually have with it.

Have a great day!!!

ANDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD The new Biggest Loser starts tonight!

Monday Question of the Day - Explain your DIS screen name.

My Dis name is a little boring, it's just my name. :)

Sorry for being a little behind, I've been moving all weekend and last night I pulled a back muscle :scared: I'm hoping to get back to walking in the next couple of days and I'm keeping my fingers crossed I don't gain any weight just laying here in bed.

Had a pretty good weekend, and a good day yesterday as far as eating, but I'm still finding it hard to get the exercise in! As soon as I get home from work, I'm spending time with DS (which I LOVE), and the evening is gone before I know it! Gotta find some time in there somewhere!

Have you tried using your son to exercise with? When my DD's were little, they were happy to be my weights. Hold them away from you and bring them in (say Boo!) and they would giggle. Or lift them up & down. Or lie down on my back and sit them on my tummy and do some butt lifts. They thought it was fun, and it gave me workout time that was more like play time. ;)

I always assumed your son was Mika and you were his "mah" (ma with a bit of a twang). I wasn't too far off, Mika is a form of Michael! ;)

As for me, I got bad news yesterday at work and as such skipped the gym. My company is going out of business. That's rough news, but hopefully you'll be able to find something better!

Its day 2 and I have to take pick up the kids after work and go shopping for groceries and new kids indoor shoes, so I'll have to make sure and buy something quick and easy for supper, so I don't do the McD drivethrough. I'm trying very hard to stick to fast food only once a week and it was pizza last Sat so no drivethrough this week.
