Welcome to the Jungle........Pool! Updated 7/7 pages 14 & 15

I hope everyone is on the mend SOON!

I just read your updates. First, Liam. Ohmyword. He is ADORABLE Heidi!!! I can't believe how big he's gotten!

And Danica...she grew up way too fast! And what a cutie!!!! You have some seriously cute kids on your hands. But I'm sure you already know that. ;)

Awww, thanks! I love to hear about Henry as well since Liam and him are so close in age. You've got one smart cookie in that boy! He should really excel in school.

What a relief that the drives went well!!

Could have turned ugly at any minute thou! :rotfl2:

I echo what everyone else has said about the Vistanta - beautiful! Wow. All that space for less than POR??? If we ever decide to rent a car while we are in the World (for whatever reason), this offsite property will be topping our list! I love it! I really do want to try offsite sometime, along with renting a car. The two times I have rented a car in WDW (for just 1 day) I have HATED driving around - I get so easily lost. But perhaps with DH in the navigators seat...:scratchin Someday!

I'm glad to read that staying here worked well for your family. :thumbsup2 Resort choice can easily affect a trip for better or worse.

That's funny that you hate driving in WDW because I think it's so easy. Everything is well marked. But you have to forget about how you *think* you know how to get to places because the Disney buses have routes that no normal person would ever choose to use for themselves.

I'll be back later with more replies and an update!

Hi! I'm joining in...I finally seem to have enough seconds of free time to look at some new TRs, for a change -- feels nice! :goodvibes

I know what you mean, I tend to read the same DISers all the time so :welcome:

Best license plate ever!

Thanks!

This would have so freaked me out -- I probably would've been in that middle lane going 30! :rotfl:

What a beautiful villa! I'm still deeply in love with the Disney resorts (partly because I hate driving), but I could see moving over to offsites at some point in the future, especially once kids are in the picture...you get so much more bang for your buck!

Looking forward to more...

How you "do" your Disney vacation is really the deciding factor in off site or onsite.

Hey Heidi, like with Amy's TR, I subbed to yours either while I was in WDW or right when I got back, but finally got to actually read it today.:)

I'm glad the drive went well, sorry your DH was sick though. I give you a lot of credit cause you drove twice as far as me, and I told my DH I am not driving with the kids next time, we are flying, I agree wrestling with kids for a few hours is so much more appealing than the challenges that came with a long drive. Plus I don't know about you but I was exhausted just from the drive.

Exhausted? I was a couple hours away from being admitted to the looney-bin! :rotfl2:

LOVE the license plate.
Thanks! Too bad no in the parks got to see it!

Danica is such a cutie, with a great smile. And Liam is too too cute too.:cutie:

Thanks!

Loving the villa, guess that can be my back up for trips down the road. It sounds like it was the perfect place for your family.

Can't wait to read more and hope you all feel better soon

I think those villas would be great for the 4 of you for your next trip.

Just checking in!Hope everyone is better !!!

Getting there!

The kids are GORGEOUS!!! I absolutely love your license plate. Great Villa, it looked pretty. Glad you had so much room.

Lots of people in NH have vanity plates so seems like a competition to come up with unique ones.

Hope you're feeling better Heidi. We need to get rid of this COLD NH weather.!!

Doreen I am so over this cold weather! Highs of 40's this week? :confused3 Can't wait to see what the summer brings.

I'm sorry to hear that the family has been sick. I'm glad that everyone is beginning to be on the mend.

Thanks. Liam had a much better day at school today so that's a great thing!

South of the Border

I totally forget to tell you that we actually stopped at South of the Border during the drive on the way home. I never thought I would have the chance to go there….and have no plans to go back! It’s really run down and not at all what I thought it was. John and I had gotten Subway sandwiches To Go a few hundred miles earlier and I had packed sandwiches at the Villa for the drive for the kids for dinner that night. So we thought we would surely find some tables outside to sit at and eat. Well of course the temp has dropped since making that plan so that wasn’t going to work (BTW….One picnic table) I always feel funny bringing in food to a place unless we buy adult meals so John ran into the ice cream shop and asked if it was ok that we eat in there….the 2 teenagers working could have cared less so we went in. Big mistake. There was this cheesy ball pit thing set up so we couldn’t get Danica out of it and there were 2 old video games that we couldn’t get Liam away from…so they didn’t eat. At least they got to move about for a bit.

Grocery shopping

In case you were wondering. On the first night that we arrived at the Villa we went grocery shopping at the Winn-Dixie just up the road from the resort. It’s nice grocery store if you are in the area. Prices seemed fair….well all but one. After we got home I was looking at the receipt and noticed that I paid $6.19 for a family size box of Eggos, I pay $4 at home…..what’s up with that??? lol

Injuries

I though I should explain some injuries that were sustained by the kids on the trip so you aren’t wondering what’s wrong with them in the pictures!

On the second night, Liam fell out of bed (pull out couch) and onto the tile floor. He got a good egg on his head and a black and blue swollen eye. Nothing serious, the egg went away in a day, the swollen eye in a couple days but the black eye lasted the whole time and then some.

Then at some point there was the carpet burn to his elbow that he got at one of the baby care centers because he was running and fell…it was so bad it scabbed up.

Danica couldn’t seem to stay on her feet this trip. She scrapped up both knees at Typhoon Lagoon and just basically bruised up her legs all week long at the parks. Thankfully nothing major.

No injury in this picture….it’s just cute!

I waited until the drive home to injure myself. At one of our pit stops I opened Liam’s car door and something was starting to fall out so I dived for it and ended up driving my left upper arm into part of the car. I have never had a bruise that big, that purple and last as long as that one. I can actually still see a spot of it today on my arm.

Sorry no pictures of that one….

South of the Border! I remember driving by all the tacky signs when I would road trip to Florida with my best friend's family.

Liam's poor eye... I had forgotten that he had a black eye when we saw you guys at the pool! :headache:

so South of the Border an't what it used to be...;)

sorry about all the buinps and bruises...ouch on your arm...but at least you did that on the last day...it never fails I alwsy seem to injure myself too

Aw poor kiddos with their bumps & bruises. And then you go & hurt your arm?? That sounds like something I would do.

A few trips ago I sprained my ankle. Miss Clumsy that I am-I missed the last step going down into the Land & fell flat on my face but I turned my ankle & it was like our 2nd day there.:sad2: I was so  It took weeks after we got home to feel better because I kept walking on it the rest of the week so I think it made it worse.

It sounds like the worse of your colds are behind all of you.:thumbsup2

Oh my gosh, the injuries! Glad none were too serious.

I must say that picture of Danica is adorable. Look at how she's pointing her toe like a real ballerina!

LOVE Danica's tutu skirt :cutie: Poor Liam! :worried:

I injured myself on our last day at the Magic Kingdom in December. Took a step off the curb in front of the Castle into a bit of a rut and BOOM, down I went. Dang thing hurt well after I was home. Not the kind of souvenir I had in mind.

late to the party (late to everything these days) but I'm here and off to catch up!

Glad you are all starting to feel a bit better! What a nightmare 3 long weeks.

Glad the injuries on the trip weren't too terrible either. Stitches from a tumble on a tile floor would be the pits.

Sadly the signs are nicer then the place itself.

I knew South of the Border was tacky but I guess I thought it was going to be cleaner and nicer.

I'm always worried about sprained ankles while on vacation because there isn't much you can do for them but solider on!

I know, she looks like she's a dance bar doing warm ups.

I hear you.....too bad my bruise wasnt' in the shape of a mickey head...now that would have been funny!

Never late, just saving it for later!

I'm glad I didn't know how bad Liam had taken that hit to the floor until the next morning because I probably wouldn't have been able to sleep.

YIKES! on all the injuries, glad nothing was too major, how did the kids react when they got hurt? Jack would've acted like the world was going to end if he fell out of bed.

My kids are pretty drama free when it comes to getting hurt. I just snuggled Liam for a couple minutes and put him back in bed. The next night we started putting chairs at the end of the bed to block it.

It was fun hanging out with Amy at the pool.

oh my gosh that picture of Danica is adorable!!!!!!!!!!! Poor all of you on your ouchies :(

There might be a couple more cute pix of Danica coming up....:rolleyes1

That sounds painful! You never know thou.....some other guest might have you on their vacation videos!

$6 for a box of waffles??!!?? :scared1: Can you say price gouge?! Glad we don't have to pay those prices all the time.....

Yikes, sorry about the bumps, bruises, scrapes and such. Glad none of them were major though. Poor Liam with the black eye, Daniel used to fall out of bed too. Often on vacation he'd just sleep on the floor to avoid the fall. ;)

Eww on South of the Border, luckily we don't have that on our route to avoid. ;)

Do you know as a child, I used to beg and beg and beg my parents to go out of their way so I could go to South of the Border? It always looked like it would be great fun from the billboards. We never did go, and now I am wondering if my parents knew something I didn't know. LOL!

$6.19 for a family size box of waffles??? That is crazy. They are just a little over $3 here in Georgia.

Boo to all the injuries! Poor guys! Danica does look adorable in her pink skirt!!! :goodvibes

Late to the game!! But definitely glad I'm here! Going back to read!!!! YAY!!!
