So sorry to be MIA (and I was on a roll too!). My internet has been wonky for the past week so that has made DISing tough AND my whole family is sick with a head cold, including me. You know that type of cold where all you want to do is sleep with the blankets pulled up around your head....all day long.

I just read your updates. First, Liam. Ohmyword. He is ADORABLE Heidi!!! I can't believe how big he's gotten!

And Danica...she grew up way too fast! And what a cutie!!!! You have some seriously cute kids on your hands. But I'm sure you already know that.

What a relief that the drives went well!!

I echo what everyone else has said about the Vistanta - beautiful! Wow. All that space for less than POR??? If we ever decide to rent a car while we are in the World (for whatever reason), this offsite property will be topping our list! I love it! I really do want to try offsite sometime, along with renting a car. The two times I have rented a car in WDW (for just 1 day) I have HATED driving around - I get so easily lost. But perhaps with DH in the navigators seat... Someday!

I'm glad to read that staying here worked well for your family. Resort choice can easily affect a trip for better or worse.

I have had reoccurring nightmares since I was a kid about driving on these types of bridges….freaks me out and I don’t freak easily. It was dark and raining and there were warnings that the bridge was slippery……I pretty much just white-knuckled it in the middle lane doing 40 mph (the limit was 50)

This would have so freaked me out -- I probably would've been in that middle lane going 30!

What a beautiful villa! I'm still deeply in love with the Disney resorts (partly because I hate driving), but I could see moving over to offsites at some point in the future, especially once kids are in the picture...you get so much more bang for your buck!

Looking forward to more...

Hey Heidi, like with Amy's TR, I subbed to yours either while I was in WDW or right when I got back, but finally got to actually read it today.

I'm glad the drive went well, sorry your DH was sick though. I give you a lot of credit cause you drove twice as far as me, and I told my DH I am not driving with the kids next time, we are flying, I agree wrestling with kids for a few hours is so much more appealing than the challenges that came with a long drive. Plus I don't know about you but I was exhausted just from the drive.

LOVE the license plate.

Danica is such a cutie, with a great smile. And Liam is too too cute too.

Loving the villa, guess that can be my back up for trips down the road. It sounds like it was the perfect place for your family.

Wow! I am in with your Villa! We have considered staying off-site in the future, and this place is most definitely going on my short list. Like you, we still use our car and rarely take advantage of EMH, so staying off-site wouldn't be a big deal for us, other than not being able to purchase the dining plan. DH is a HUGE fan of the DDP b/c it means that he doesn't have to think about how much $$ he is shelling out for character meals.

I recommend Vistana, I paid $1015 for the week.

The villa looks fantastic! We did a split stay with POR and an offsite 2 bedroom villa and the extra space at the villa was awesome. We our staying onsite for our next trip but as my DD gets older and our family grows we will most likely be moving offsite. I will have to remember this one.

It's so hard to know what you are getting offsite compared to a Disney resort. I think we'll go with a 2 bedroom next time.

I too like the looks of your villa. As I said on Amy's report, we'll have to keep them in mind in case we're out of points for a future vacation. Question, in the 1br villa did you have a washer/dryer?

Yes we had a stackable washer/dyer.....very handy!

I turned off the email alert thing years ago! I have to tell you that as we drove thru NYC I said to my DH " Hey I know of an apartment in Queens that's empty for the week....should we extend our vacation?"

This is true about us splitting up -- I think we would all have to stick together if we stayed off-site. Thanks for all the info!

After this last trip where we drove to all the parks instead of taking buses, I am spoiled. LOL! I am squirreling all this away in my mind for future trips. I really like all that space you and Amy had!

Well Charles is getting better about sticking with the family right? And there is tons of organized activities for the kids and at least one pool has a bar

My family owns DVC, so I know exactly what you mean about not having housekeeping every day. Honestly, I kind of prefer it too. Makes me less embarrassed too when my room is a mess.

I don't make my bed at home so why do I need it made on vacation right?

Thanks everyone for the get well wishes. We have had this cold for 3 weeks now. I got to sleep in my own bed for the whole night last night so I've got a bit more energy today. Colds really reek havoc on Liam's autism so he's been struggling at school for a couple weeks now.
