ITA ibouncetoo!!!!!

Hey, DHSsenior007, I just saw on Channel 8 (ABC) news that they were doing a story on the new bill about cheerleading from one of the Denton High Schools; were any of your friends on it??? (OK, this is a test, I really don't want you to post an answer; it would tell me your school!!!!!) Actually, it would be kind of cool to have the TV cameras taping a few routines.....

Chocolate Dreams everyone!!!!!

:jumping2:

Good morning everyone!

OhanaFamily, As an answer to your test, that would be a no. I'm sure most people at my school don't even know about the bill, but both my parents and I agreed that it probably won't pass completely. I could have a rant about the bill, but I'm not going to...

Happy 50th Anniversary Disneyland! It's also my dad's college graduation anniv. thingy. So congrats to him!

Gotta go and get ready for school...

Well I have a real almost 9 year old boy. He just said "mom listen to this" and well farted and laughed his head off. Oh the joy.

Lol it doesn't end for a while! Today in spanish I heard a group of girls (ages 15-17, you know, the "mature" ones) talking about how farting is healthy for you and how they love to fart, etc. etc. I found it all very odd, I don't like talking about bodily functions at all, while some of my friends do. :confused3 I definitely don't get it! Okay, gotta go start my work. Bye!

:rotfl2: There's something about kids and farting that go hand-n-hand. My brother used to love coming into my room when we were kids just long enough to fart and stink up my room. He found it hysterical!!!!! I naturally found it disgusting!! But now 20 years later - I find it pretty funny too! :rotfl:

Beans, Beans the magical fruit.....

DHS, Good Show. I don't think the bill will get through either, but I Dunno... I would love to hear your rant (even if you want to PM me with it, I know little about the bill, but suggest it is religiously motivated by people who need to get a life.....(PS there is a DFW Dis meet in 2 weeks... Alex will be in Valley Ranch...on sunday ... http://130.94.75.33/showthread.php?p=8500577#post8500577 )

Yes, Happy Birthday Disneyland........

:jumping2:
(editted to add Dis-Meet Link...)

Beans, Beans, good for your heart! Best bean scene, Blazing Saddles.

What's everyone doing for mother's day?

Happy Friday everyone!

OhanaFamily, what? You suggest that I ask my parents to let me go see a bunch of self-proclaimed ax murderers?? Haha! Lol..... I would love to go, but my parents wouldn't let me. As for the bill, I'll PM my rant sometime whenever I have enough free time (I can go on forever.... sad, huh?)

s&k'smom, I'm not really sure what we're doing for Mother's Day. I already got her a card and the gift, but I'm pretty sure I'm gonna be doing housework that day.

I know about the parents thing... but it doesn't hurt to ask; she might actually want to meet the people you hang out with on-line.....

Cleaning for mom is good..... maybe S&K could help???

Oh well, Ian bought RRBB some roses last Sunday (so she could have them all week) I think I will get RRBB a new camera. Hers keep breaking... Well, I asked her which one she wants, and I am not sure if she wants me to pick it out or let her... Any suggestions? She likes small, great quality...hmmmm

Oh well, Chocolate Malt-O-Meal for breakfast totay...

:jumping2:

Good evening all :wave2: - I had my first whole day back at work today since I've been sick. I went to work yesterday, but I had to leave at noon because Stephanie's school had a gas leak and the students were dismissed early.

To answer the question about Mother's Day - I'm having my family over on Sunday. Every Mother's Day my Mom brings KFC over because we all agree that nobody should have to cook on Mother's Day.

ohanafamily -a new camera for RRBB sounds like a great present. DH gave me a new camera one year and I loved it!!

DHSsenior007 - doing housework on Mother's Day will make your Mom very happy. Maybe Stephanie & BabyKate will housework for me someday - I can only hope!!

Well, I'm going to be on way - we just got home from gymnastics and I need to eat some dinner. Then BabyKate will go to bed and Stephanie and I are going to watch Princess Diaries 2 tonight - I just love that movie!!!

Have a good night everyone - talk to you all tomorrow!!!

slo

Glad your feeling better Slo, yes Princess 2 is a wonderful movie. Wouldn't we all love Julie Andrews as our grandmother.

Good morning all it's raining again, 3rd saturday in a row. Whaaaaa.

Just dissing this am with my coffee. Yes and no cooking on Mom's day. To all our dis mommies of babies and pets (yes they absolutely count) have a wonderful day tomorrow.

Good Morning all my chocolate loving friends - hope you have a good Saturday!!

Bagels, Chocolate Chip of course, Cream Cheese, and Lox for breakfast today; anyone hungry???

:jumping2:

Just got back from supper with my kids and have figured out nothing says mother's day than sitting at a restaurant with your kids eating fries and ice cream!

Hi all, I just ran across this e-mail, and felt it good for a post... Ever wonder about...

Specifications and bureaucracies live forever

The US standard railroad gauge (distance between the rails) is 4 feet 8.5 inches. That's an exceedingly odd number.

Why was that gauge used? Because that's the way they built them in England, and English expatriates built the US railroads.

Why did the English build them like that? Because the first rail lines were built by the same people who built the pre-railroad tramways, and that's the gauge they used.

Why did 'they' use that gauge then? Because the people who built the tramways used the same jigs and tools that they used for building wagons, which used that wheel spacing.

Okay! Why did the wagons have that particular odd wheel spacing?

Well, if they tried to use any other spacing, the wagon wheels would break on some of the old, long distance roads in England, because that's the spacing of the wheel ruts.

So who built those old rutted roads?

The first long distance roads in Europe (and England) were built by Imperial Rome for their legions. The roads have been used ever since. And the ruts? Roman war chariots first made the initial ruts, which everyone else had to match for fear of destroying their wagon wheels and wagons.

Since the chariots were made for, or by Imperial Rome, they were all alike in the matter of wheel spacing. Thus, we have the answer to the original question.

The United States standard railroad gauge of 4 feet, 8.5 inches derives from the original specification for an Imperial Roman war chariot.

Specifications and bureaucracies live forever. So, the next time you are handed a specification and wonder which horse's rear came up with it, you may be exactly right. Because the Imperial Roman war chariots were made just wide enough to accommodate the back ends of two war-horses.

And now, the twist to the story...

There's an interesting extension to the story about railroad gauges and horses' behinds.

When we see a Space Shuttle sitting on its launch pad, there are two big booster rockets attached to the sides of the main fuel tank. These are solid rocket boosters, or SRBs. Thiokol makes the SRBs at their factory at Utah. The engineers who designed the SRBs might have preferred to make them a bit fatter, but the SRBs had to be shipped by train from the factory to the launch site. The railroad line from the factory had to run through a tunnel in the mountains. The SRBs had to fit through that tunnel. The tunnel is slightly wider than the railroad track, and the railroad track is about as wide as two horses behinds.

So, the major design feature of what is arguably the world's most advanced transportation system was determined by the width of a Horse's ***!

:jumping2:

Good morning, just rushing off to get ready for church and wanted to say hi.

Just dropping in quickly before I head out to rehearsal to wish all mums a happy mothers day. We had our mothers day a few weeks ago in England. I hope you all have a great day with your families.
